So first thing's first, I'm not just here to complain. I've taken steps to ensure that mu soul is no longer sucked from my body - ie: I quit. I was hired on the spot with no reference from Starbucks, and I am making the same amount as I made working for Starbucks for almost 3 years.

The reason I quit Starbucks was the management. Our store had been through 3 managers in the time I worked there. The latest one and her new ASM totally stomped on me. When I started at Starbucks I was shy and kind, and the longer I worked there the more I got the crawly feeling that my terrible managers were rubbing off on me. Almost as soon as they moved into our store there was an unattainable amount of pressure, while partners began flying out the door. I was one of the last ones to leave, but in the past two months about three people had split. The managers started by enforcing "QASA" to such a rediculous extent that it overtook customers. I'm confused. Who comes first? I would be in the middle of a rush and my manager would approach me just to tell me to wash the light fixtures or rearrange the back room. Then they would crawl back into the dark hole that is the back room and disappear for the rest of the day. ASMs and SMs were NEVER on the floor and when they were they were constantly 'bussing' or disappearing. They seemed to magically disappear whenever there was any sort of rush. The ASM was particularly bad at this and sometimes I would have to leave my partner (who was usually in training, as they were all new) with the line up to go search the vicinity for an ASM. The one ASM was almost always coming onto guys and then complaining that any guys that approached her were 'perverts' and needed to get out of her 'personal space'. UHUHHH?!

After awhile, a newish partner who I knew personally was fired on the bounds of theivery. The 'theivery' was her giving free drinks to her daughter. She rung them in as her partner beverages. She did not receive a single warning and was fired on the spot by an ASM who didn't get along with her. Of course this made me angry but it was my job of two years so I kept on truckin'. Henceforth, this partner was brought up in EVERY COACHING CONVERSATION I had with management. They constantly pointed to my work ethic going 'downhill' even though I was putting in close-opens and cleaning my butt off while training/doing all the work of all the new partners because I was the only senior partner on the floor. My boss continually backtracked about 'Why' my work was going downhill and then basically told me that she had no good explination for why she said that, it just 'was'. She also mentioned she believed that I didn't fit in and wasn't part of the 'team'. She also couldn't back this up. Again, with everything it came back to my previous co-worker and how her leaving 'changed' my 'attitude'.

I believe this all stems from the fact that she wanted me to put in extra work that I just couldn't do. As well as taking on extra duties she continually piled on more and more 'jobs' as she gave to everyone else in the store in order to divide the work. These tasks included directing rollouts, cleaning shifts, orders, etc etc... and I was just a barista. She began asking me to take things home and work on them. Uh. No.

Lastly, I had an ASM (the flirt) find my resumes and keep them, and then have a 'conversation' about them with me. She did not return them for a full week. I have no idea why she had them or where. All I know is that they were gone. That day she also told me that because my name tags weren't on my till, my '*ss was on the line'. She then proceeded to pull me in and have another conversation with me when I tried to get her to help me on the floor and got frustrated because she was piddling around 'bussing' as usual. This conversation is when I snapped. I was sick of how she treated partners and customers. I quit the next day and went on vacation for my last few shifts. Happy ending.

THEN my final paycheques didn't show up, and I called to figure out how to retrieve them. The person I had to deal with was the 'kookoo' ASM! She gave me no direction and told me that I was absolutely not rehireable... to which I replied, "That's great!" I stupidly tried to get a hold of the SM thinking that she was more professional and told her that I would really like to know how to get my cheque so when she had time if she could call me instead of the ASM... and she forwarded the message to the ASM who then called me and proceeded to again give me no information.

OH PS, that store was full of ants. I had customers complain to me about them falling in drinks. Wish I could share which store so all good people could AVOID it!
