That's correct, lenore, you can't get into trouble for a complaint that trivial. If by some miracle your SM gives you any beef about it, tell your DM, or at the very least refuse to sign the write up. You should be ok, though. I've had at least half a dozen customer complaints - most of them, believe it or not, had nothing to do with ME, I was just the face that got pegged for the error - and I've never been written up.

lenore - Don't worry, that's nothing. You won't get in trouble. You handled it as best as you could and didn't give the customer crap back.

Maybe she took the complaint form to complain she had to wait for the coffee and it had nothing to do with you.

I hate Starbucks Disgustomers!! So very, very much--they make me want to puke in their faces!
Phew! As JSN says, explain to situation CALMLY (don't be defensive, you're in the right and you know that) to your manager. Usually complaints like these go nowhere. The company gets hundreds of unfounded complaints like this from customers throwing tantrums because we didn't lick their toes when we serve them their raw sewage in a cup!

just to be safe, you should tell your manager. tell them what you told us. looks like you didn't do anything wrong. if someone yawns and shrugs and expects you to decode it, then has a problem with you b/c try to work through it.. then i don't think this should be a problem with your manager. just give him/her a heads up.

At worst you will probably get written up, but most of the time those complaints go nowhere.

I work in a very busy and busy store. I came in for my opening shift finished everything that I needed to finish and starting ringing people up. A lady came to my register and was very soft spoken and yawned (as she was talking) and asked for a coffee. So I said a tall (I could not hear her)? She did not respond, we were out of Pikes so I asked her if it was okay if she got Gold Coast instead but offered pikes as well (but it would be about 4 mins, she shrugged. So I handed the tall cup of Gold Coast to her and she said "I asked for a grande". I told her that I was sorry and it would be no problem and got her a grande gold coast. As I handed it to her she asked me if I was having a bad day, I told her no. She then asked me for my name and picked up a customer complaint form.
I am extremely worried about losing my job. I have never gotten a customer complaint before. In fact I usually go above and beyond customers requests and most of them love me. I just want to know what is the process of what would happen. I was not trying to be rude and did not say anything negative to her. I just could not hear her. I do not know if it is a result of a simple miscommunication (I am also soft spoken). Or what
