it really weirds me out when I'm expediting the line from out front and people feel like they need to invade my person space and step WAY too far into my bubble and "whisper" their order.

Cruisy, you should just backhand the mouthbreathers who get all up behind you. It irritates the **** out of me when customers humpshuffle other customers in line. srsly, no goddamned manners with some of these people.

I always wondered why after waling into the store, a person will appear out of no where behind me, litterally on my back. GTF off me for one thing, why do they have to stand to close? Sideways glances do not work, belive me. This also happens when I get in line, and a person is looking at the pastry case or mugs, and charge up behind me, like I stole their place in line. Tuff cookies for them, they can wait. It really is quite funny to see them trying to think of a retort to tell me that I somehow cut in front of them. :)

I hate, hate, hate when certain customers cannot wait until they get to the front of the line so they stand there breathing down the neck of the person at the front of the line. Even worse, I hate it when they stand next to them so it looks as if they are together. Yet these are the same people who get all hissy about people trying to steal their identity! WTF? I am a barista, not a hacker. If I was a hacker I wouldn't be working here, i'd be stealing your money from my comfy couch at home!

And yes, the I don't know how to order my drink my will act like a know it all at the register happens at my store too. I hate it when people ask for a frappuccino and get a blank stare when I ask what flavor.

A lady came in yesterday and ordered a "frappa-cappuccino". I thought about asking if she wanted a frap or a cappuccino, but then I realized that would probably confuse her so I asked hot or cold. She said cold and I said "oh, a frappuccino", and she said "um, a frappa-cappuccino". Whatever. Then I asked if she just wanted the plain coffee flavor since she didn't specify. She looked surprised that I would ask such a question and said No! After a few seconds I said "okay, so... what flavor?". Blank stare. "We have mocha, caramel...". She asked for something with chocolate. C'mon, people!

While I'm ranting, does anybody else have this problem? At my store we have two cash registers and unless I physically block the other register with the newspaper stand, people will always walk up to that one and set their stuff down. You can see that I'm standing at this register, why would you walk up to the one with nobody at it? It's like 2 steps away. Then they make me walk back and forth to take their money, and act mad when I fail to see that they had a bottle of water hidden from my view. I usually set their coffee down on my side and leave it there until they figure out that they will have to walk 3 steps to pick it up. It gets even more annoying when somebody does this in a rush, and people start to form a second line behind them even though there is only one cash register.
