I overheard a couple shifts talking a few hours ago. Things do not look good for a couple of the openers. The openers have made their time at work revolve around bitchin' and moanin' and leaving nasty notes. Earlier this week they noticed people are calling in sick just to avoid working with these morning shifts and they also noticed they can't get anyone to cover.

Let me just stop and ask you all this question:
If you are a shift and you see you no one can be coerced into working with you...
A) Point this out to your manager.
B) Sit in the back room for three hours swearing and writing more nasty notes.
C) All of the above
D) None of the above

I know my answer would be D, none of the above. Our morning shifts seem to be going with C, all of the above. I don't think this is going to work out the way they planned.

It's not like it's tough to get people to cover shifts at my store. Day before yesterday I realized my schedule request had been denied. My manager told me I needed to get it covered. I said, "Yeah, It shouldn't be that difficult to get a Saturday closing shift covered." At that moment a partner walked around the corner to the back room and said, "I'll close for you!" It didn't even take a second or even a properly addressed question. She's doing a double for me next Saturday, but she threatened to walk out this morning. Now, my manager's not the swiftest, but I don't think she's completely blind to what's going on.

I'm really glad I have not been sucked into all of this. I have to admit a sick sense of satisfaction. Everyone can see it coming except them. I don't have to do anything. I hope I'm there when it goes down and I can get good covert video.
