   I had the cheapest customer ever today. He ordered a venti latte, and asked if we had the 10% airport discount. I asked if he had his ID. Since at this point 99% of people show me their ID I just went ahead and gave him the discount. Then he showed me, get this, a Marriot room key (which he probably stole from the hotel) and said he worked there. Riiiiigghhht... But whatever he got away with 35 cents and I went to make his drink. THEN he asked me to put the Venti in two tall cups "because he didn't want to spill it". I showed him the lid-plugs we have but he mumbled something about having kids (huh?). This is where I got a tiny bit of revenge; I gave him a 2/3rds full venti cup, and a 1/2 full tall cup. But I still put one shot in each so one was too strong and the other too weak. Now if I was that guy I would have been out of there pretty quick but this guy comes back TWICE asking me for stuff. I wanted to slap him for being so obvious while attempting to 'play me. Which unfortunately he sorta did.

   At least today was a good tip day...

   I know right, if people are going to lie to save a few pennies at least make the story straight and have a somewhat believable tale. That's just so silly.

   There's this guy who comes through dt and orders "frothed milk with [some sweetener packet - splenda or whatever] and two shots of espresso poured through the milk." And asks to be charged for a doppio. My reply was, "Well, sir, that sounds like a macchiato to me - sort of an inverted one, since normally we mark the espresso with the foam and not vice versa - but we can charge you for a macchiato, since that's the closest drink to what you ordered." Or something to that effect. He was nice, but tried to convince me that no one at my store knew what a real macchiato was - that every time he orders one, he gets a sweet latte. So I explained that an espresso macchiato and a caramel macchiato are very, very different, and then I explained why they are different, and why they have the same word in their names ... means marked in Italian ... blah blah blah. I was really very informative and friendly. He got his drink, paid for an EM, and left - apparently satisfied. Yay, right?

   So he came through a few days later and did the same thing. And we had an eerily similar conversation.

   I'm waiting for #3. It's supposed to be the charm.

   A lot of kids come to my store and ask us to blend an 8oz pre packaged container with strawberries and ice, which means they get a venti and only pay like $1.75. I told a couple of them that they can save the pre-packaged drinks for customers who don't want frappucinos and atually want juice, and we'll make them the same thing, with the bulk juice we use for vivannos, which is the same juice, and that way they are paying for the labor and everything. ( I charge them for a blended strawberry lemonaide). One of the litte brats whined to her parents and the called the store and complained about me. Now my manager wants to fire me if I don't act like a stepford wife!

   You can charge her for the drink and the strawberry sauce. That way they'll at least pay something. Also, I like to use less ice or too much ice for kids who are trying to scam us... it's fun. Only if they're being douchebags, though.

   I know what you mean about the stepford wife bit. SMs and DMs don't care how much **** we have to eat, as long as customers get what they want.

    Okay -ghettomocha v2- "half brewed coffee and half hot chocolate". How do people come up with this stuff? And then its like they expect me to have a dedicated "half brewed coffee half hot chocolate" button and I have no idea how to charge them.

    Me I'd charge them hot chocolate add shot which is the most expensive - especially as we charge for signature by default here. Only a very very nice customer would get misto add syrup add whip :)

    actually that's a tim hortans mocha. just inform the customer that's not possible as we don't have 'hot chocolate' readily available and direct them in the direction of the $5 mocha while clearly explaining to them this is the chocolate coffee they want.

    for the 'half brewed coffee and half hot chocolate' aka a coffee with mocha syrup and steamed milk.... charge a 'coffee misto add mocha syrup'.

    I have this customer who gets a Venti coffee, six pumps white mocha, whip cream. First time I heard it, I had to have it re-called because I couldn't believe what I just heard.

    As for the people who asked to have it in two cups, ie Venti Latte, I make a venti latte in a venti cup, then split it into two cups. They ain't getting away with that **** with me. No way, Jose.

    I try to make slightly less than a venti if they are being annoying, just so they get two 3/4 full tall cups. And if there is whip cream involved, it goes on the venti prior to the splitting up of the drink. Of course, most of the time they just stare at you blankly and as for "more cream."
