Fun-time. What do you hate about Starbucks in a couple of sentences.

Write "I hate it when..." and fill in the blank. Starbucks related of course.

I hate it when...customers expect me to know what they want in their drink and I have to walk them through it box by box because they realized I'm not a mind reader. If the customer is new I won't mind at all, I will help. But if they come up to the till and say "Mocha" with a rude-**** tone, I am forced to say the thing I hate saying the most. "What size?"

I like this topic;).....I HATE IT WHEN superiors make empty promises. Or I HATE IT WHEN people don't get trained right and time is wasted to re-train them.

I hate it when I walk into my store of 10 years, and a veteran worker stills asks me what drink I want. Mind you I have been drinking this drink every day for a year, with no changes. It boggles the mind.

Doing that for you is a privilege that we do not give great service, not a right. Perhaps he didn't bother because you were acting like an entitled **** instead of appreciating how nice it is that we actually bother to do that, when almost no other place in the world would have employees that would even do that for you at all in the first place?

I hate it when ... cruisyeyes feels like it has a valid complaint. Cruisyeyes, you should hate Starbucks, not Starbucks baristas/shifts. We make hundreds of drinks a day; we might remember yours, but if not, don't flip out. Maybe they are doing it to f with you because they know you're touchy. I do that to some of our bratty regulars. Keep in mind - you have to be a NICE regular if you want us to treat you with extra consideration and, sometimes, favoritism.

    On with the topic:

I hate it when ... someone pulls into drive-through and orders ground coffee. Ordering whole bean in the DT is fairly acceptable, because one of us can just go and grab it, but having to grind coffee for someone waiting impatiently in their car - especially when they come through during a rush - is absurd. It's even worse when a) they're not sure which coffee they want, or b) we're out of their favorite. "You don't have KENYA?!?!?" "Yes, ma'am, we're out." "WHY don't you have Kenya?!? I can't believe you don't have it. The other store/s have it!" "Then go there, you dumb ****. Our manager never orders enough whole bean. Get used to it."

i hate it when i reset the browing history on my computer and lose my password to this site! haha.

    but seriously ...

i hate when: i go into stores and baristas act like they are god's golden child. dude, you work at starbucks. fing food service. you may hate your life [or hey, maybe you don't].. but don't try to degrade me or act like a total snob because a customer comes into the store and actually expects you to do the job you signed up for and maybe expects you to KNOW what your are doing -- without the attitude! yeah, you are probably on edge from a bad day and/or expect people to act like **** -- but not everyone does. i don't. i'm actually really nice when i would come into the store. i used to work there, i know how it is. so get off the fing high horse and do your job! remember, you can always quit if you hate it so much. until then, suck it up and don't take out your agressions on undeserving customers. besides encountering too many partners who do not know how to do their job and not trained properly.. you snobby bitches [yes, guys too]..you are the reason why i boycott sbux. thanks.

I hate it when...people think that we (baristas at starbucks) think we are better than everyone else. Any decent starbucks barista knows that we are basically the McDonalds of coffee. Breakfast pairings = value meals LOL, come on you know it. Oh and theoneyoulovetohatexo, if any barista ever treats you like that, remind them how much they get payed and they'll shut the f up.

I hate it when a barista who's only worked here for 2 years think she is a shift and has the right to boss me around. F YOU.

I hate it when - i work with lazy **** baristas and i have to run around like a f madman to try and catch everything up while they just stand there with their thumbs up their ****.

I hate it when - people call in drink orders that are NOT travelers. ****, it only takes 4 minutes TOPS to churn out a drink. If you can't afford to wait 4 minutes, then you probably shouldn't be stopping by a starbucks anyways

I hate it when - people stand in line for 10 minutes during the morning rush and get "counter amnesia" (you know, when they just realize at the counter that they don't know what they want), then take another 5 minutes debating whether to get a grande or a venti, and THEN take 25 minutes to dig around their purse for exact change.

I hate it when customers expect us to give them the extra shot of espresso for free.
I hate it when customers that are cheap, at put ask you if they can get a discount.
I hate it when customers demand you sample a pastry for them, so they can eat most of the samples.

becca - gotta get over the seniority thing! ..it is the shifts job to be your boss when the manager isn't around -- whether you have been there longer or not. now if a shift bossing you around and they aren't on duty as shift, then you have a right to complain about it. BUT, your seniority should have NOTHING to do with it.

I think she's saying that it's a Barista bossing her around, and not her shift; which by all means i despise. I'm a shift, a partner for 3 years, and i've worked with many 6 month old baristas that think they know everything.

@ theoneyoulovetohate: I am pretty sure the person was talking about someone who was not a shift and had not been around as long as them, trying to tell them what to do as if they were a shift because they were around for a little while and thought they knew everything... you all know this kind of barista. Some have lots of time with the company and some don't, but they all think they know everything and try to tell EVERYONE what to do... they usually don't do anything, either, f layabouts.

I hate it when... I do bar and customers are "backseat" baristas... is that non fat? is that decaf? Are you *sure* that's soy in that latte?

I hate it when... people come to my register and don't have their money ready. Or even worse, they left their wallet in their car and have to go back and get it and they hold up your line while people give you dirty looks

I hate it when... managers give you a hard time about being 2-3 minutes late, even though you constantly cover shifts and do extra cleaning for them all the time

I hate it when... the school down the street has a "surprise" soccer tournament on a warm spring day, and it's only you and 1 other partner on the floor because of labor cuts.

I hate it when... you're a shift and you caught the cold from **** and there's NO ONE available to cover you, even though you've called practically every store in your state. So you end up having to go to work and bust your **** and make drinks with no voice from coughing all nite, a fever of 101 and a sore throat.

I hated when a customer someone orders a drink be 138 degrees. I dont mind if its 120 or 140 or something, but 138? Come on. Unless you have a thermometer in your pocket theres no way to tell the difference between 135 or 138.

I hate it when people shoot down my attempts at casual conversation. Funny example:

    C: I'd like a white mocha, grande.
Me: okay, that will be out in just a minute. You know the iced white mocha is pretty good, I just had one yesterday because it was like 100 degrees here.
    C: "no, I wanted a hot drink"
    Me: *stare*

i hate it when customers order a drink and then say ill be right back, go to the bathroom and then pay for their drink.

i hate it when a customer orders something out of the pastry case then starts eating it right in front of me while trying to hand me money covered in food crumbs and saliva.

I hate it when people order frappiccino lights with whip - doesn't make a lick of sense. Same **** with Nonfat caramel macchiatos with extra carmel.

I'd like to play this game! :)

I hate it when customers actually do their merchandise shopping through the DT window. I've read comments similar to this from you guys before - like coffee mart wench posting about the customers who order bags of ground coffee through the DT. But what I witnessed today might be even worse, I think...

I ran out on my lunch break to run a few errands today, and on my way back to work, I decided to stop at my local SB for an iced coffee. I figured I'd just zip through the DT. There was one vehicle ahead of me...and I heard what they ordered at the DT speaker/menu board - one venti iced tea and one venti frap (I forget which kind). They pulled around to pay and I pulled up to the speaker and placed my order. When I got up behind them at the window, I saw/heard this customer - half hanging out her car - asking for travel tumblers. The poor SB employee was holding up several different kinds and the customer was trying to decide on which ones she wanted. The SB employee would disappear for a few seconds and come back with several more tumblers. This continued a couple of times until the customer picked out two that she liked.

WTF??? All I wanted was my iced coffee...and I got stuck behind someone who - at the window - decided that she wanted to do some shopping. I felt bad for the employees having to cater to the customer...and the person working the DT actually apologized to me for the wait once I got up to the window (like it was her fault). I told her not to worry about it and that I wouldn't want her job. I dropped a couple bucks in her tip jar and headed back to work!

I hated it when people left giant **** messes on tables or spread their crumbs for a ten foot radius. There was a store I covered at a couple times that had *the* messiest clientele. Cups, bags, straw wrappers, napkins on tables, chairs, and floors, crumbs spread a mile around.
I would sweep the floor and ten minutes later, it would look like I hadn't done anything!
Please people! Throw away your trash instead of leaving it around like that!

I hate it when customers forget what they want and take 10 years to decide even though I suggest drinks, I hate it even more when then it takes another 10 years for them to pay.
I hate it when customers ask me to do something that is against the rules and say "the starbucks I go to does it...."
    Let me repeat myself
I hate the line "the starbucks I go to does....."
When people yell at me for not giving them change w/o buying anything.
When I call out a drink several times and there is only one customer is waiting for their drink and then they ask if it is theirs.

I hate it when customers ask me for a reciept before I have a chance to hand it to them.

I hate it when they rush me because they're late, even though it was their decision to come to starbucks in the first place.

I hate it when my store randomly changes major policies and doesn't tell anyone, just assuming it will spread by word of mouth (i.e. new strawberry sauce).

I hate it when a customer orders a tall drink and there's someone before them that orders the same thing but venti. The tall customer glances at the large drink and asks

    them: "is that mine?"
me: "did you order a venti latte?"
    them:"no I ordered a tall"
    (stares at obvious size difference)
me: then no it's not yours"

I mean I might understand a misunderstanding with tall and grandes but tall and venti is just ridiculous. If you know what the f you paid for why do you ask?

I hate it when you're in the middle of a rush, you've got like ten different drinks to take care of and someone who JUST ordered and has their drinks all the way at the end of the line waits about thirty seconds or two drink calls later and then calls out over the glass

"excuse me i ordered a (insert drink) and i've been waiting here for a while now"

"you mean the one all they way down this line here? you've got a bit of a wait darlin'"

then they get mad at you.

    I hate it when...
You have a line to the door and a cafe full of people and a customer acts like they are the only customer and their drink is the only thing you have to worry about when you have a cafe full of people and a line to the door (I work in a small store). Or
customers look at you like you are a complete idiot if you tell them that you have to brew coffee after the 3 people infront of them just walked away with Venti coffees or they ask you how can you run out of coffee like it just magically appears in the urn
