I recently quit starbucks. I was on my maternity leave and was ready to return to work but I could only work the 4am-10am shift, a shift that I have worked the 3 of the 4 years I've been there. Not only did the manager tell me no but told me she would look for another store for me to go to that would give me that shift. I have a husband in a wheelchair with friedrich ataxia,a condition that affects the nerves in his legs and may get worse over time. We have two kids a 2year old and a 2month old. The reason i wanted to work the early morning was so i could be home early to help with the kids. She knew this but wanted me to work mid shift. And the only store that could give me early morning was a good 40 minutes away from home. For one why the hell should I have to go to another store? Another thing she could have made more effort to try to work something out.She kept saying " I dont have any morning shifts available." I was upset and I quit.
