So, first post here!
I work in a Starbucks kiosk in a certain grocery store, first off.
(I've heard Employees at standalone starbucks don't take kindly to kiosk workers but I've seen no evidence)
Basically this means I have all the restrictions of starbucks, the grocery store (Beware of safeway stores!) and absolutely none of the benefits. There's a ton of complaints I've got, as I'm sure you all know (no tips-Safeway policy, etc...) But today's concerns our new manager.
Keep in mind that I've worked at a number of standalone coffee shops so I know the drill, and this kiosk **** horrifies me.
Anyway we had a new manager transfer in from another grocery store- get this- without a starbucks. she has no coffee experience, she worked at a customer service desk. In the 2 months since she's been here she has not once made a drink, other than coffee, without consulting the binder. and, I **** you not, I have had to remake every one of them because she has some magical ability to ruin even a tall latte.
What gets to me the most is she has no interest in proper drink codes. she just makes them up! Yesterday I was halfway through a grande mocha before I realized the "M" was supposed to be and espresso machiato. Either that or she spends five minutes writing out the full words for every customization.
As far as I can tell the manager application process must consist of "can you put liquid in a cup? YOU'RE HIRED"
