Why are we doing a promo on bold coffee and then not brew it all day long?

because that is why we have the lovely new pour over brewing method, to complicate all of our lives more. Our store doesn't use it though, we just stick to brewing just the bold all day or just pikes and if someone asks for the "bold" give them whatever was brewed, or tell them they have to wait. its much easier to just brew the bold all day though

You guys are doing pourover now? Wow... I don't know if I should mock SB more or be silently a little impressed. Or just mock SB more. How "indie" of them!

Oh, and why is SB not utilizing clover more? The bought clover so no one else can have them (except for the shops that bought theirs before the aquisition), and now I see it's only in 4 cities? For the barista that's rushed and has a bazillion things to do and deal with pissy, hurried customers, wouldn't the clover be ideal in more shops? AND so many indie shops have pour over anyway. Wouldn't it be advantageous for SB to utilize something that pretty much no one has or has access to, to set them apart? I mean, I know Clovers are pricey, but they OWN the rights. And they'd make it back, yes? O_o

Good question, agnthousewife!
Btw, what is a "pourover"? I haven't heard that term before.Posted 3 years ago # -
A pourover is like a manual version of the brewers we use every day. Ground coffee goes into a small plastic cone, in a filter and then hot water is poured over it, hence the name, and the water drips trough and into a cup, so its a one cup at a time method of making coffee. I've only seen one cup made at our store, now the apparatus lives in the basement. I haven't tried coffee brewed this way, so I can't speak to the quality, although I hear its good. But customers have been weirded out by it, and to me it just doesn't mesh well with the starbucks way. Oh, and another reason we don't use it -- we're in Canada, bold's brewing all day!

It is pretty good, if you use a gold or cloth filter. Paper filters are ok, but they leave a taste behind, just like drip. I do pourover at home when it's just one cup for me.
I AM suprised SB would even bother going that route, pour-over (like siphon coffee or press) is more part of the experience than an "in and out" thing, and I think SB have trained their customers to be "in-and-out"ers. (I realize at least some SB offer french press, but I've never seen it advertised, and I have a feeling the pourover will go the way of the press anyway...) It IS a very indie coffee shop thing, and I can understand the two mercantile shops doing it. For every other siren-store, fugheddaboudit.Posted 3 years ago # -
Pour over makes me want to stab myself in the face repeatedly. Just saying. >_<

Pour over is just another attempt of Starbucks to avoid having to admit that they messed up with Pike. A time saver? A reasonable answer to not brewing bold and decaf all day? Rrright. It slows service like mad.

Customers have walked out so many times because of this. We are coffee store yet we're focusing all our attention on those frappucinos???

The Grinch can erase the word "coffee" from its logo. First of all, they are using the word 'coffee' VERY loosely. Second, them selling frappuccinos and such is like the USPS selling flip flops. Makes no sense at all.
