Maybe as you read through the posts, you'll see how great the people at your Starbucks really are, considering the **** we have to deal with day to day. But hey, we gotta earn a living right?

I do not love Starbucks. I love some, most of the people I work with. I love when they switch up and put people who normally work mornings with us at night. you know how it goes, there is talk about shifts who work together regularly and they don't have problems faced on their shift, then they get to try another shift. Well. The morning shift as busy as it is, get set up by the closing shift. They don't have to do any cleaning to get going. They do have alot to do. I know.
When I came in today at 3:30, I noticed that the dustpan that I cleaned the night before was right where I left it. So.....we opened at 5:00 and no body swept the lobby or cleaned anything until I came in...I don't care so much that they weren't busy. But, what happened to lobby slides? Are they so special that they don't have to do these things? And it's not a matter of "they put it back where it was" nononoooooo. Just like a teenager, never puts anything back were it was. It was just as I left it. UN F***ING BELIEVABLE! These same people are always trying to shoot holes in us. Why?

AAARGH! WHY out the carton of lemonade BACK in the refrigerator when it's empty??? THIS IS NOT YOUR HOUSE, it is NOT the THIRD PLACE, it's your JOB! So don't put empty stuff back in the refrigerator, throw it away!!!!!
Okay so, to be on the positive side, I do like my health insurance. And....
Hm. I guess that's about it.

I had that EXACT thing happen to me yesterday when I went to cover bar. Whenever I have to jump on bar I run out of everything in 5 minutes. If its not tea its mocha or chai or beans or ice or milk and os on. Yesterday I opened the fridge for to get lemonade and there were 2 drops left! Some of the partners I work with I like to think of as mildly-retarded anyway. It's hard to find good help on Maui! But the benefits are awesome!

Grave: knew a great partner who transferred to Maui but then quit after only 1 month. Is it REALLY that bad on Maui? I hear ya, though. HMSA is SO cheap through SB.
Do you guys still carry the 100% Kona? My old SM told me that they got rid of Peru as a core a while back...too bad, I really liked that stuff.

Half the partners are homeless, and most of them are on some kind of drugs. Then all the "locals" will give you the Haole Snub for the first few months. When I first started working at SB I thought all the partners hated me. It is such a different place from the mainland. People are so ignorant here because the Island is all they know and they don't like change very much. After working with SB for 6 months I had finally befriended a couple partners and we were talking about first impressions and she told me that most people in the store thought that I would quit within the first month. I was blown aaway that those were the true feelings of the store. And it kind of brought piece of mind in a way that I wasn't crazy for thinking they all disliked me, because in a way it was true! I have been here with SB over a year now and I could go on for days about all the 1/2 brained people that have been concidered for interviews and even been hired! I tried to be hired as a shift because I have several years coffee experiance and know I can do the job. I was hired base pay and bottom of the totem pole. I have a new SS that can't remember anything and her breath always smells like alcohol. She just spins around in circles saying "o.k. tell me what to do! Tell me what I should do!" Never worked in a coffee bar in her life! Got hired because she is friends with the manager. In Nov. I started all my paper work to be a shift. I have been sitting on my **** waiting for my second interview. I have even called my DM and still nothing! I feel like I live in the Twilight Zone! But it is awesome living in Hawaii. We do have the 100% Kona. It is great coffee. We did get rid of the peru also.

starbucks in charles village is going a little ghetto... i mean they hired manager, black guy w/ no experience and he hired some high school kids who act like their typical bmore city teens which is not good..see recent trial of homeless woman being beat on mass transit..still kool peops there but,,,"it's a problem"...from SNL sketch...

This isn't about how nice the workers are or how good the coffee tastes, it's about their business dealings, and how they don't pay fair trade. So it's irrelevant if "the people are great". And the same thing to Starbucks employees who say they like it. It's the stuff you don't know, the stuff that's hidden, that matters with Starbucks, and all big businesses for that matter. It's how they get their products is the thing that ticks me off (ticks me off-understatement of the year)even more than everything the big corporations do on top of that.

i can't win on this site,,,tell me what to believe and i'll go goosestepping down st.paul street w/ the lot of you..,,freedom is slavery..2plus 2 =5...

Yeah, what he said. They claim this and that and it's not really that way! Think about how you would feel given the promise that a company would be so great and they are really the total opposite. Im not happy. You wouldn't be either. I think the only way they keep employees is the benefit package. Seriously.

In my store we have a serious girl power problem going on. The SM is a woman, the ASM is a woman, and all the shifts are girls, except for me. Im the only guy there. All the girls hate each other and are always saying stuff behind each others backs. this really sucks! I DESPISE STARBUCKS!

Posted 3 years ago # -
The spin zone stops here. There is no SB propaganda or other nonsense here. No spin. We hate starbucks, and if you want to know why, read all the other posts.
Posted 3 years ago # -
tasomichael: Could you do us all a really gig favor and STOP using commas when you mean to use ellipses?????
For instance: i like the free coffee on wednesdays,,,,the charles village is okay as a meeting place or just to run into people u know,,,
should be written like this: I like the free coffee on Wednesdays... the Charles Village is okay as a meeting place...
I'm sorry but that's just too difficult to read.
