hey parrotheadkrm, would you believe it if it came from vanderbilt university? they have a coffee research institute there. http://www.vanderbilt.edu/ics/ yes there are over 1000 chemicals in coffee and yes about 20-25 or so have been tested and some have been shown to be carcinogenic. but hey so has the chemicals in the air we breathe.

You've got more than 1000 chemicals in your armpits, in very very small amounts. I would believe there were as many as 10,000 chemicals in a cup of coffee. And, there is lead in your tap water. Everything will kill you, it's just a matter of scale.
