Why would he fire you?

he got mad because i was picking shifts from other stores without telling him

Ooh. Uh. I have no informative answer. Try to diplomatically negotiate your way out of it by explaining you did not know proper protocol (informing him) and it will not happen again?
If he's not buying it, quittin' time. Junkpunch for good measure.

picking up shifts

Um covering shifts from other stores. Sorry my english isnt good.

You can get fired for that? Even still, if they canned everyone who did that, Starbucks would lose 1/4 of their staff WORLDWIDE! THINK OF THE HEADLINES!!!
In all seriousness though, I'd resign. Quitting a job unexpectedly is WAY better than being fired over something so stupid.

He can't fire you over it without having given you at least a written warning. If he is a fair manager, which a lot of Sbux managers no longer are, he should have given you a final warning first. He can't just fire you over it without documentation of prior incidents. When you pick up shifts at other stores, are you going over your 40 hours?

I am asking the same thing as GYD. If you are picking up shifts during the week and your shifts at your "home" store are throwing you into overtime, it comes from "home" store payroll, and he (sm) takes the hit on his labor. I don't think you should be fired, and would try a diplomatic approach as offered above. If you are w/in your 90 days, or your previous warning indicated the next action could be "up to and including termination" you have some concern. If he does fire you call your DM and discuss your employment with him/her, if they are a fair DM. Good luck.

Ok that's it. Im planning to write a letter to my SM telling him im quitting and filing my two weeks notice. Not like this job isnt worth losing. I just turned 21 last wednesday and i believe there will be a lot more opportunities for me. Id rather quit first than make him fire me. I still have sched for next week all opening. Thank you so much for all your comments and suggestions. :')
