Hello all. Just found this website while looking up help on how to remember recipes better. I must say that i am highly amused at the postings on here. Too bad we aren't all in some gigantic store working together as the lulz could very well end the universe as we know it.
I currently work in Flushing Queens New York as a Barista. I've been here for almost 3 months, and I have to say, I have never known people could be so damn obsessive about coffee. My brother works at this Starbucks and he pretty much got me the job, and all I can say is thank God he works there because the stress and some of the co workers assholish tendencies really have made me want to quit.
Some of my co workers just take things so seriously it's crazy. I can't fathom the amount of stupidity that goes into some of my co workers minds. It's like they are drones with no human thought except coffee{a gross exaggeration I'm sure}.
Now don't get me wrong, I memorized most of my drink making stuff within the first 3 weeks. I still get caught up every now and then with the Starbucks double shot and the under tow and stuff, but I've got most of it down. Yet it's still not really good enough for some of these barista's. Thats the hilarious part, my shift supervisors are awesome! But some of the Barista's who have been there a while like to act like they are a "Shift" and boss some of us newbies around. It's hilarious, especially when I calmly disagree with what they are saying and how they are going about telling me. I take it to the shift and dredge up a **** storm on them. I have literally had to get my shifts to talk to these 3 baristas at my store 7 or 8 times about their ego and their lack of patience.
Fun times at Starbucks my friends. Thank God for this site, let the lulz commence :]
