As a customer if I am asked my name during the course of small talk (not to write on my drink), and they (barista) tell me theirs unprompted then I feel comfortable calling them by name thereafter.
I don't feel that just because their name is displayed on the nametag that it's proper to just refer to them by name out of the blue.
Idk, maybe I'm just weird.
