I remember that I get health insurance for $21 a pay check. DAM.N YOU, STARBUCKS! they have me trapped in an infinity loop.
I have quite a few things wrong with me, am on about 6 different medications, and have to go see a neurologist and endocrinologist a few times a year. If I didn't have health insurance, I'd be fu.cked to say the very least.

it's sad because I was thinking about how much it sucks to only make $8.61 an hour WITH a bachelors degree but then I remembered the benefits. anyone else get health benefits?

just $10 for each generic prescription... and some of mine are even free. I have epilepsy and my anti seizure meds are hundreds of dollars for one month. with sbux, it's just $10.

WAHHHH. I guess I'm stuck working here forever.

Yeah, that's gonna be my problem once I actually have health insurance. I've only been working here a few months, but half the reason I applied was the benefits. I don't have any health problems, but I'm always scared shitless that something will happen and I won't have insurance and just be **** in the ****. But once I do get my insurance I'm gonna have to take a week off just to get all my doctor appointments in, I haven't been to anything in almost 2 years.

yeah... that's the scary thing. YOU'RE STUCK FOREVER. the plan isn't THAT amazing. no matter which one you choose, you still pay out of pocket for most of your diagnostic fees (blood work, xrays, etc) because each plan has a deductible PLUS you pay 30% or something along those lines... BUT the prescription thing... plus being able to see a specialist for about $50 (I chose the cheaper plan with no copays but I pay more for visits) makes life easier. plus you get a free yearly check up.

if you include dental (which is only $10 a paycheck) you get a free preventive care and they cover 80% of basic dental services.

the vision is a great deal if you need glasses. only $3 a paycheck! you get a free eye exam each year as well.

Do tell more, I'm only 3 months into the job and waiting for that healthcare package to be mailed.

When should I be receiving one, and when does the plan start covering me? I can't decipher the language in the handbook I received. It sounds like "eligible within 2 months if you worked 160 hours by then" and "covered in another 2 months"

you have to have woked for the company for 3 months, work more then 120 hours a quarter. The catch is that you can only sign up for it during the open enrollment time period if you have already worked there for 3 months. If you get hired on after that like me ( november ) then you end up putting in 8 months be for you even get the choice to have any benefits.

^ Nope. You are able to enroll after you have been working there for 3 months if you meet the required amount of hours. Open enrollment is for partners who opted out at their months but want to get it then, partners who have benefits but don't want them anymore, or partners who want to make changes to their benefit package.

Being in a licensed store, I don't get health insurance. But... even if I did, I dunno... I used to live overseas and got healthcare where I was almost for free. It's hard to pay out of my a** for s*** I got for free! I need it though... I need dental! My god... this country sucks honestly.

Anyone know how much the vision covers? I'm under my dad's insurance, but we don't have vision and had to pay out of pocket this year. It cost quite a lot for the exam, glasses, and contacts. So I'm just wondering whether the insurance will cover all of that.

okay, vision covers 100% of a yearly exam after $10 copay. Lenses are 100% covered after $25 copay. Contacts are covered 100% after $25 copay of deemed medically necessary.

^ No way! I have three different pairs of glasses so I never went to get new ones. I am going to have to advantage and get myself a couple more pairs. Plus I could use new lenses in the frames I already have. I swear, I don't wear contacts because I consider glasses another accessory. I don't ever wear jewelry so my glasses are a way for me to get creative.

No, it's 240 hours per quarter, or on average 20 hours/week.

And they pay 80% of basic dental and then 50% on the other stuff, up to $1000. So one root canal is being covered fully and the other will be, I dunno, $600 or so. With a $250 co-pay.

Which, y'know, ain't bad.

Except that tomorrow I have to have a root canal. :*(
