seriously! I'm a manager at a coffee shop and I'm so tired of telling the employees to follow straight forward obvious rules and then having them get upset because I yell at them.

Yeah, the girls I work with use their cell phones in front of customers...but for the most part they are at least nice so i don't get too worked up usually. But one girl, she really just sends me over the edge. She is mean, nasty, does not clean, bossy, and is lazy. She reads while I do all the works, that's right she reads and she gets away with it. My supervisor tells her not to do it and a week later she's doing it again, right in front of customers and ignoring them. My supervisor tells me she is a special girl and we have to be patient with her. Excuse me, WHAT?!. This girl is full time, full benefits, yet she gets to come in late every morning, be a total **** to everyone, read all day, and takes ridiculously long breaks. She also finds it necessary to yell at me every time she sees me for not mopping the floor at night (i work alone at night and only have 20 minutes to close, mopping the floors is a rarity...gross i know). How she has gotten away with this behavior i do not know.
Also, my supervisor and the girl mentioned above left myself and another partner to put away an entire order that came in, serve customers, keep things made and clean, and told us to mop the floor (ha!). neither myself or my partner knew where half the order was supposed to go because just about everything was stocked and the back was over flowing. I hope they don't mind ten boxes of coffee laying on the floor in the back...
They have also left me when I first get in with NO coffee, and by NO coffee I mean none. Nothing brewing, no bags, just empty dirty pots. I had to go out and find the nearest bag of coffee off the shelf and grind it while a line of customers looked at me like I was stupid. They also leave me with giant bags of trash next to the register. Yummy.
My situation wouldn't be so bad if it were not my supervisor doing half the damage. The cherry on top is that my starbucks is in a grocery store so if I complain about the things that go on behind my counter I am pretty much talking to a wall.
I neeeeeeeeed a new job haha

"My supervisor tells me she is a special girl and we have to be patient with her."
So, does she wear a hockey helmet everywhere too?

So, it has been almost 2 weeks and these **** will not get over themselves. I hate tension and these two are almost impossible to work with. They say things like " Be careful what you say there is a snitch around here." One of these people wants to be a cop and can't follow the most basic of rules at the bux!!WTF ever... Make me so F'in mad. Any advice on how to deal with these f'ers??????? Give me some innocent tips on getting even with them!!!

They aren't even worth the trouble. My manager and one of the supervisors are at each other at the moment. They almost never work together but because I move between open and close I work with both of them. I put my blinkers on and just do my job. I'm as nice as pie to both of them but I *never* agree with anything nasty they say about each other.
I would like to put Urnex in their drinks - imagining doing so is one of our favourites for nasty customers - but like I say they just aren't worth the worry. So just keep out of the way as much as you can, put the blinkers on and remember they will get theirs sooner or later!

parrotheadkrm, my supervisor treats her like she does. This girl recently told me that she takes pride in being a ****...that's lovely considering she works with people all day.

Yeah... Another long shift. My SS says to me tonight to just let it go. She says that "Your biggest flaw that we have noticed is that you let things get to you to easily"
WHAT... Have you all really been sitting around talking about my flaws, or is that just me letting the comment get to me???
UGH!!! I really wish I could just let it go. I have always had an obbsessive personality, like I get on something and then I fixate on it... Ya' know.
I know that I do a good job at work and that should be enough. I still to this day, no matter how angry I get take the high road and treat people with dignity and respect! Im not gonna let some f'in teenager change that, or some wanna be cop!! I Love this site... It is awesome to vent to people who understand. I love the **** outa all of you for your advice. It is needed and appriciated!!!!!

I have so many problems with my fellow partners. For starters, they all, for the most part, smoke. Now dont get me wrong, if you smoke, that
s YOUR business, BUT, for the sake of humanity and for all non-smokers, perhaps you could be considerate, God forbid, and delay taking out the cigarette until, I dont know, you get out and away from customers? But that in all its glory is the slightest bit problem compared to the others ive been facing. Lets now touch upon what bitches some baristas can be. When it comes to a "rush" of ****, complaining, intolerant swarm of disrespectable greedy customers, I expect chaos; but truth be told, I only become noticeably frustrated when I can hear the partners talking dirt and **** about myself or any other partner.Posted 4 years ago # -
It's a nasty environment fer sure. Working with teenagers &adults that ACT like teenagers is especially frustrating, as well. There is such a lack of maturity @sb.
Plus we all work so closely together.
Pink-e, don't sweat the bullsh*t. There's been quite a few times I had to politely (through clenched teeth really) inform other partners that "I'm paid to work, not to be friends. My life exists OUTSIDE of starbucks", then just be civil. Usually people leave you be after that.
Remember that you're TOO cool to play 'high school musical' @ work. Besides, who has time for THAT ****?!Posted 4 years ago # -
"...they all, for the most part, smoke...BUT, for the sake of humanity and for all non-smokers, perhaps you could be considerate, God forbid, and delay taking out the cigarette until, I don't know, you get out and away from customers?"
YES!!! Being a smoker myself, I literally walk around the corner of the store and smoke it there. When I get back in, I pop in some gum for a minute (never chewing it on the floor!) and wash my hands! I can't stand the partners we have that put the cigarette in their mouth as they're storming out of the store, mad because they had to take their 10 at 2 hours and 15 minutes! And some of them don't take off their aprons! Are you joking me?! I don't get that.
@ pink-e: I used to have this barista that would get on espresso bar no matter what her deployment was and stay there, never making anything other that hot drinks. If it was 12 noon and we had a storm of Frappuccinos, she wouldn't budge because "she was on bar, not COLD bar." She refused to make any Frappuccinos or even ice the iced espresso drinks. It was so annoying! I talked to the ASM, nothing. I talked to the SM, nothing. So whatever, I deal. After dealing with this **** for about 6 months, she FINALLY got fired because a snapshot review showed her being such a ****.
Point being, management sometimes sucks, and you just have to remember that these people will get what's coming to them.Seeing as this was 7 months ago, how is everything now?

Ok! Honestly the 2 that I was refering to... One got fired and the other quit, and hasn't found a real job yet! Your right, people get whats coming to them!!!!!!

:D So glad to hear it! I can give you horror story after horror story about our ex-**** partners that all got pruned out like dead weeds.
The problem is, now that I feel like I like everyone I work with, and am not tempted to turn around after I walk on a shift and see "them", now the COMPANY is going to ****!
