#1: Girl comes up and asks for an "Iced coffee" I ask which size, She says "The one that costs 2.95" (What happened next is important, the guy that was with her, orders a frap, so they OBVIOUSLY know what a frap is) ANYWAYS, Drink is made, and she pulls me aside, and says "EXCUSE ME! I wanted a Mocha Iced Coffee! The blended! Like he has!" ........ I tell her, "Sure, if you want to go over the register I'll refund the Iced Coffee and charge you for the Frap instead"...She takes the iced coffee, pours half of it in the trash, comes back and asks for pumps of mocha.The person that was actually on bar gives them to her, then she fills the other half of it with half and half.

#2: Girl comes in late at night and orders a Grande Caramel Frap.When she get's to the window she hands me a treat receipt. I look at it, it's from a month ago. I tell her that it's for the same day purchase. She claims that ALL THE OTHER STORES LET ME DOOOO ITTT!!!!!!! I tell her we aren't one of those stores, and that if she wants, I'll ask my manager, but she'll give her the same answer. She demands I ask my manager. I take a closer look at the receipt. Not only is it from a month ago, it was for the purchase of a cake pop at 9pm a month ago. I tell my supervisor, and my supervisor tells her it's not gonna happen. So the girl then insinuates that we give her the drink for free for the trouble we've caused her and having to wait. X_X

I had a regular beg, beg, BEG me to let her get a venti latte with her survey receipt thing, even though it CLEARLY SAYS you get a free tall drink. I did it because my shift had JUST let a random guy get a venti cup of coffee with his empty bag of beans, so I thought we were being nice. NOPE just being inconsistent and then talking to me like I'm stupid when I give a regular a venti instead of a tall. "Uhhh... that says... TALL." Yes, thanks, Lazy Shift. I can read, can you?

The point is, I've created a monster. The next time the regular came in she begged us for a survey. Betch, I can't summon them! They're random!

re: #1. It's not that she didn't order right, it's just that she saw her guy's drink and changed her mind after already getting hers. Any other place, and she'd have to just walk out. Starbucks though? You get to demand a re-make for free and claim we should have known all along =_=*

Sunday Funday is usually full of weirdos but I only had one really stand out. Mostly because he **** me off the most.

Dude walks in with his kids (he's like... 50 something?) and they order their frappachinos. Then he jokes "my order is REALLY complicated - *pause for dramatic effect* double espresso." Ha, ha. So I go on making their drinks and we end up in the middle of a rush. He comes up to the handoff area a few minutes after I handed him his doppio and he asks for steamed half and half. I tell him it's gonna be a sec cause I'm 7 drinks deep. Start a couple fraps, start pouring his half&half in the pitcher - he interrupts to make sure it's half&half. No, I'm a f-cking idiot and/or deaf person. Hand another drink off, then the breve finishes steaming. He says, "Oh, I pour it myself."

... what? No. I tell him it's a health code violation and he backs off quickly and says, "you're the boss!" I finish his drink and smile, saying quietly to myself, "Yes. Yes I am." I was nice enough to pour it in front of him so he could tell me "when."

But this begs the question, are there any stores out there that ACTUALLY let customers pour the milk from the pitcher into the cup? Or is this guy just off his rocker?

^ I don't even trust customers with the milk carafes.

I also lid the hot drinks myself for liability's sake. "Yes, you're only going to walk 15 steps over to the condiment bar to add your milk and sugar, but I don't trust that you or another customer won't bump into each other with an open hot drink, scald yourselves, and blame ME for it. So let me put a lid on that so it doesn't happen."

I don't even let customers pour cold milk into their drinks unless it's from a carafe. If I have already brought the whole milk and non-fat in for the day and someone tries to say they will pout it in themselves I let them know I can't do that because it's a health code violation. Won't put up with people asking for no lid either, just like Rick said.

when someone needs whole milk or non fat for their coffee and it has already been taken back from the condiment bar, I just pour them a short cup's worth of milk. most of the time they use the whole thing and if not they can stfu. SOY people I just pour it in their for them.

sometimes I hand back coffees without their lids on... mainly because I just can't be bothered sometimes. if it's a steaming hot coffee I tell the customer I have to put another one on but if it's a doppio or some other small half full drink, whatever, I DON'T CARE. better than hearing the bitching that comes along with, "Sorry, Maam, I have to put a new lid on your drink."

"WHAT?! YOU'RE WASTING ALL THAT PLASTIC!!!"

but my **** of today:

woman comes in, orders a cakepop and a venti blah blah blah 200 DEGREE blah and a naked juice and so on and so forth. total comes up to 9 dollars.
hands me a hundred dollar bill.
i tell her i can't take it.\
she looks at me like i should give it to her for free.

i ask her if she has another way of paying.
instead she slams the juice down, which she has already drank from,
and storms out of the store SCREAMING about the lack of customer service.

it took all my might not to scream at the top of my lungs and throw her stupid burnt milk at her face.

OHHHH yes it does. And it's probably even worse. For those of you who I've seen say they'd rather work at McDonald's or Tim Horton's or somewhere else, think again. They are no disneyland. I had a guy when I was working at McDonald's go into the restrooms drunk as a skunk then proceed to barf all over the urinal and the floor WHILE he was peeing then he passed out into a pool of his own urine and throw up until another customer found him there. Another time, I had a drunk man drive into the drive thru menu board while placing his order, then demanded we serve him at the window, after we refused he then parked himself and when the cops got there, he was masturbating in the driver's seat. I've had a McChicken punched into my face, a coke thrown at me, and god knows what else. Trust me, as bad as you may think you have it, the grass is not always greener on the other side. Same s-h-i-t, different pile...

But no, I know McDonalds is worse, because, and I hate to generalize, I find a lower class of people go there. Their stuff is cheaper, SBUX not so much. I've been to many a McDonalds, and the people who go there are 100x worse than SBUX.

One thing can be said about McDonalds, however--they usually seem to have enough people on the floor. Although that might just be an outsider's uninformed observation because I don't know how many people it takes to run operations there. I do know that I almost always wish we had another person on the floor at the Bux, but the elusive "labor" won't allow it.

LOL, well apparently this trashbag trailer park customer had purchased it and he said the chicken was still raw. However, when I asked to take a look at it, he wouldn't let me see it even though he was still able to keep and do whatever he wanted with it after letting me look at it unless he willingly gives it to me to dispose of. He was like, I'm going to keep it and bring it to my lawyer and I'm going to sue you f-ckers and on and on blah blah blah. So I was like, if I can't see it to verify that it is actually undercooked, then I'm not giving you anything or refunding it, see ya later! So he's like, "you aren't going to give me back my money?!?!?!", I said not unless I can see it. So he proceeded to take the sandwich and propel it into my face with his fist. I'm lovin' it!!! Luckily there were a group of guys in the lobby that chased him down the street while I cleaned the mayonnaise off my face. Hopefully they kicked the **** out of him :). But the good news is...the sandwich was undercooked! So if those guys didn't kill him, maybe food poisoning did!

One of the better parts of working @ McD's though is the benefits. You have to be full time (35 hrs/wk) to get health/dental/vision/etc but they cover more of the costs for less out of your pocket. And you pay by payroll deduction in bi-weekly installments for the level of coverage you choose rather then paying deductibles when you use the service. Everyone still gets 50% off all food purchases at every restaurant (at least in Canada it's at every restaurant), 100% discount on food during your shift for management, free uniforms, some stores offer paid breaks, tuition reimbursement for post secondary education related to your work (just like starbucks but a higher reimbursement), yearly fitness grant for fitness equipment/gym memberships/chiropractor/etc. that gets bigger as you move up in position ($400 yearly for store managers), and the icing on the cake is the company vehicle after 3 years as store manager that you only have to buy gas for and pay off any tickets you get. The company covers maintenance/repairs, insurance, and licensing fees. However, after witnessing a football player take a dump in the middle of my dining room and watching friends make a bet over whether or not one of them is brave enough to drink an entire drink that they just spilled onto the floor using a straw and then watch them actually do it, among many other things, it was time to part ways

Reviving this to whine about some customers who demanded decaf today and complained about it. You know it's bad when the person who orders the frappuccino looks like a good person by comparison, just for having a simple order. Saturdays are slow as molasses at my store, so we don't even bother brewing decaf in the morning, and all decaf is a pour-over, or (IF I HAD THINGS MY WAY) an Americano.

These fools came in at noon- never seen them before, total tourists. One wanted half-caf, and I charged him for brewed coffee but out of habit I started making him an Americano. He payed and then started pacing around like a crazy person wondering where his drink was, going back and forth between my register and the hand-off. Well, 1) the only other partner at the store was my shift, and she's busy cleaning things 2) I'm helping your friends. You know, the people you're with? So calm the fvck down, broseph. He realizes I'm making him an Americano and demands I make him a pour-over (interrupting his friend's order, I might add) because, "Americanos just don't cut it!" YOU WANT DECAF, YOU ****. WHAT DO YOU KNOW?!

The last person in their party also wanted decaf and tells me she's also willing to wait for a pour-over. By this time my shift is handling this BS, more customers have come, but STILL these people felt the need to interrogate us about our decaf policies: "omg no stores IN ALL OF THE COUNTRY brew decaf after noon! How weird!" "Why don't you brew decaf?!"

shift: "...it doesn't sell."
idiot: "that's not nice!"

IT'S NOT ABOUT BEING MEAN, ALTHOUGH NOW I WISH IT WERE. From the time I clocked in at 8, until you damned my store with your presence, we had VERY few customers and none of them wanted brewed decaf. If you want to drink decaf that was brewed when we opened at 6:00am, and has been sitting in the urn from then until noon, BE MY GUEST. I WOULD BE MORE THAN HAPPY TO HAVE GIVEN YOU SUCH ****.

So my shift finished the second pour-over, and it was promptly returned because it was "too strong." I was working on some lattes and trying so hard not to roll my eyes, and I could FEEL the waves of rage coming off my shift, especially when this old hag kept interrogating her about pour-overs: "I don't like it, can't you brew decaf? I really don't like it, it just seems like instant to me!" **** coffee, how does it work?!

But honestly, $5 lost here won't make a difference in the long run. For every customer that has a bad experience and vows never to return to Starbucks, there are 5 more customers to take their place. The number is exponentially growing.

This woman comes in and orders a soy hot chocolate at reuglar temp. I inform her that, per our policy (which I was made know was was so serious we could lose our jobs if we didn't adhere to it), I would have to charge her for a regular tall hot chocolate. She says she just wants a kids size and I again I tell her I can't, it's not just the tempurature, if it's a kids drink it has to befor a kid, etc, etc. She says fine, I ring her up, make the drink, hand it off and thank her. She says absolutely nothing. Won't even look at me. Well, appparently her husband called the store like, 10 later complaining about the whole situation and screaming about how they spend 300 dollars a week there. Needless to say the SM came and chewed me out for FIVE minutes saying I should have been lenient and done it for her this one time because now he has to give her drink coupons. And because I had to stand there and listen to him, I JUST missed my bus, having to wait an entire hour for the next one. All because I was upholding their policy. UGH.
