I cant even count how many disgustomers would FLIP out of we were out of those stupid rediculous envelopes. I had one lady demand that we call the licensed store next door and ask them for one because she refused to walk the ten steps herself. So my coworker who was on her lunch went over and begged them for one so this lady would shut up. Unbelievable!! Anyone have any flip outs over these dumb envelopes?

When we run out, we use sleeves, they fit well in there.

Oh god. Christmas was the worst. People would come in and get HUNDREDS of gift cards and just completely wipe us out of both the cards and the sleeves. ORDER THEM ONLINE if you care so much! >:C

^ I hate sleeves, I hate putting cards in sleeves, and I hate everyone who asks for one.

When we run out of gift card envelopes, I just wrap the receipt around the card.
By the way, I hate it when customers tell me to "put 5 dollars on this card" without telling me that it's new.

Not looking forward to this at Christmas, again. Last year we were out all the time. Kept ordering them but corporate would never send. Guess they were out, too. Hey Sbux purchasing folks...I'm giving you a heads up. Christmas is coming, again (same date it comes EVERY year). Please stockpile some gift card holders NOW so we don't have to deal with p**sed off customers. Also, up the allowable amount we can order.
Currently, I am ordering a box on every order so at least we are a little ahead of the game. They're not the Christmas design, but at least we'll have them. Why don't gift cards get auto shipped with enough holders for the shipment? I rarely have a customer who doesn't want a holder.

I've had more then one person FREAK out cause we were out of the sleeves.
"WHAT WILL I GIVE IT IN?!!!! NOW I LOOK CHEAP!!!"
Well, lady, you look cheap giving a Starbucks card. Unless there's enough money on there to pay down my student loans. There was one time where A) someone just game in and bought 100 5$ gift cards for his office (that was REALLY fun ringing up. Not to mention the Disgustomer Glares from the people in line. Oh, and then I gave him a free drink, which he QUICKLY went on to modify the frak out of once he realized I wasn't charging) and B) it was Christmas, so we were out of sleeves. Everyone in the district was out of sleeves. I apologized and said that if the lady was really in a pinch, Walgreens around the corner has these really cute little cards that come in every color and are only 99 cents and the right size for a gift card.
OH DID SHE GLARE AT ME. AS if how DARE I ask her magnanimous self to DEIGN to put her PRICELESS 5 dollar gift card in a 99 cent gift card when she SHOULD give the card in it's BIG GREEN MERMAID sleeve!!!! Despite her look and girth, she's never been a craft oriented woman or a devotee of Martha or Rachael, thus lacked in creative thinking. (I once worked at a movie theater and took home a spare movie trailer reel that we were going to throw out, and wrapped all my presents in that that year.)

Coffeefairy - I would have loved to see the presents wrapped in movie reel, it sounds awesome.
For the first month I didn't even know we HAD envelopes for that gift cards. I just handed them back to people and no one complained, lol.

BCcoffee, same here. When the barista on the next till handed me a gift card envelope, minds were blown. "How does this even work?!"

I only ever do this if they are buying one card and def not if it's a five dollar card, but when we are out of envelopes I offer to make them a frappuccino holder. I take one each of the sbux tissue paper, I wrap the gift card in the brown one and put it in a grande cup. I then take a dome lid and stuff the lighter color tissue paper in there and lid the cup. Looks like a frappuccino. People go crazy over it. Which makes wonder, am I the only barista to ever do this? I doubt it because I am not that creative.

That's a cute idea, but it would take too long to construct at my store and the customer will accidentally toss the cup away, knowing them.

For some reason, my coworkers think that it's tacky. :-/

The cards also fit perfectly inside a short cup with a lid on top. It's actually kind of cute!

You can drink your quad from the same short cup too.

While the card is still inside?! D:

You can use the Starbucks card as a divider. Steamed breve one side, espresso on the other.

Oh my goodness, GaveYouDecaf - that sounds adorable! I've never seen or heard of anybody doing that before so it sounds pretty darn creative to me.
But yeah, I noticed last year too that customers would get crazy p1ssed if we ran out of card carriers. I would usually just suggest buying one of those Starbucks peppermint bar thingies (not sure if we have them yet this year but I heard they tasted gross, LOL), buying a Hallmark card (which looks 100000x nicer, anyway) or just making their own card at home. Some customers would take kindly to these suggestions and others would not. Fun times.
