Hi.
Today was my second clopen this week. I have another coming up (didn't even know it was possible until now).
How has your day been?
Hi.
Today was my second clopen this week. I have another coming up (didn't even know it was possible until now).
How has your day been?
Not that horrible O.o I'm so sorry for you.
Are you a shift?
If you're in New York City, I'm willing to work a close for you. Let me know which night and I'll check it against my own schedule.
For whatever reason, I has the idea in my head that Starbucks requires eight hours between shifts or else the SM is in breach of policy. Someone needs to find that out so I can put it in the HALP!!1 thread.
It's true Senor. I will look it up so I can give you the link.
I don't even think that it is Starbucks policy, but like a federal labor policy.
@GaveYouDecaf: Nah, just a barista
@DrySharpie: Nope, quite far from NY, actually. Thanks though :)
I live in a state that has labor laws that aren't exactly in the favor of the employee.
I closed Tuesday night.
Wednesday: Split shift. Open - 8am, then 8pm to close. Clopen, but on the same day. wtf. I would have slept during the day... but I have class.
Today: closing.
Tomorrow? Opening.
I seem to be the resident clopener at my store. I don't go a week without at least one. Luckily we're changing our hours soon. I'll get an extra 2 hours.
Not sure it's against Sbux policy, but it's just plain mean. As for labor laws, many states are "at will" and have no laws regarding hours or breaks of meals. Basically, an employer can work you any hours they want, as many hours as they want with no breaks or lunches and can fire you for any reason. "I don't like your nail polish. You're fired..."
That's horrible IceCapp! Are y'all understaffed? If my SM dares to schedules one of us as little as 8 hrs later, the shifts make a stink FOR us and it never happens again.
We have enough people right now though and if we lost a couple people, our hours would go to crazy real quick.
Please tell me you're looking for another job (whenever you get the time??). Being forced to work hours like that, especially for a job that only pays minimum wage, is just plain inhumane.
Sadly, there is no law that states that a certain period of time must be present between shifts, with the exception of the Motion Picture Industry. And it is most definitely NOT a Starbucks policy that there must be 8 hours between shifts, because heaven forbid they lose poor souls like yourself who they can exploit to clopen.
I am soooo sorry IceCapp!!!! :(((( I wish I could help, lemme know if you are in Northern Cali and maybe I can be of assistance :)
