I am 17 years old and I've been wanting to work at Starbucks for awhile and I wanted to know your personal stories on applying/interview etc
Also if you have any tips. I don't know if I should apply online either or where to even find the application online.. I know this is a rant website about the dumb things Starbucks does but I need my first job under my belt so I can branch out.
- and another Starbucks accepting applications is in target do they hire 17 year olds?

I just got interviewed and offered the job at Starbucks on friday, so it's still fresh in my memory. Although it was a franchise store inside of a Chapters/Indigo in Canada. They were also extremely short staffed, which may have made it easier.
The first thing I did was asked one of my barista friends who the manager was since they got a new one last week, and he pointed her out to me. I approached her and introduced my self and offered her my resume and cover letter. Surprisingly she read it right there and took some notes and scheduled an interview for two days later.
So on my interview she just asked basic questions like "tell me about yourself" and wanted to know of any experienced you had where you experienced great/terrible service. Since this would be your first job you won't be able to answer the questions about when you have gave great service, which may be an issue.
I think the best tip I could give you is to smile constantly and be very friendly and approachable. I feel like I could have given bad answers and still have got the job just by showing your personality as a person who loves interacting with people. Good luck, hope it goes well!

Thanks so much for the response :) If you don't mind what did your cover letter have in it? and was it a normal resume. Is there a policy on hair because I have longer then average hair but it is above my shoulder, Thanks again.

My cover letter just said stuff along the line of "I heard you needed some people and I'd love to work here.. blah blah, I love working with people, etc..." I'm not sure about the hair and stuff, because from reading on here it seems like most stores don't want tattoos or piercings, but the one I'm going to work for has several staff with full sleeves, and neck tattoos with piercings... sooooo I'm not sure the regular policies apply, haha.
Edit: And I used a functional resume since I had only had one job before.

all applications need to be done online - starbucks.com/careers. I think it's somewhere at the bottom of the screen. My manager won't talk to anyone at the store - just tells them to apply online & she'll call if interested.
You have to be 16 to work at bux.
I saw an interview form my manager uses and they're all behavioral questions: describe a time you failed to meet a customers expectation. Tell me about a time when you saw someone doing something wrong. How do you prioritize conflicting requests.
since you don't have any experience, I'd use school-related experiences - a time when you had to do a science project with someone who wasn't doing their fair share, a time when you didn't complete a project to your teachers' satisfaction, a time you saw someone cheating, etc.
Good luck! it's a double-edged sword working for the bux. I love the people I work with - we're all real close (baristas and most shifts at least) but the customers are going to make you real cynical and hate people in general.

fill out an application online but also bring in a resume, my SM told me he doesnt even look online because he already has so many resume's. also find out if there are any job fairs happening in the area, thats how I got hired.
