I went into another bucks and ordered two grande OMS. I told the barista I was a partner and gave me her numbers. We had a pleasant conversation "Which one do you work at etc..." And then she just gives me discount. WTF ****? Not even one partner bev? I know you could do both separately, I do it to all the time to other partners who come to my store. It says GLOBAL for a reason.
Come on partners!! WTF??!?!

gave her* my* numbers.
Partner Beverage: 1 free drink up to 30 minutes before work, 1 free drink on your breaks, 1 free drink up to 30 minutes after work. It's supposed to be 5 max. You have to stand on line with the customers. You can only get it at the store you're working at. You cannot give your partner beverage to anyone else. You cannot ring up your partner beverage on your own register.

my SM would be **** if i gave partner bev to partners that weren't from my store.

Sorry, but I'm with Rick on this one. I wouldn't have partnered bev'd the drink either. Especially not if you were ordering an OMS!

Oh yeah, I forgot to mention that no one likes making a smoothie.
When I go to another Starbucks to order drinks, I still expect to pay for my beverage (with the partner discount), and I also tip .

Yeahhhhhhh. Especially not two. That's two dollars in bananas alone -.- I went to another bux and they weren't busy at all and register guy didn't charge me for my tall iced unsweetened tea and I feel like that's reasonable but I certainly wouldn't expect or ask for it.

Yeah my partner numbers. I've rung up other partners from other stores for partner beverages (using their own numbers) countless number of times.
And...there are limits? At the bux I work at they are unheard of. I guess my SM is just chill. I am like BFF's with the DM as well (well not literally but yeah...we fist bump [NO, I didn't say fist, I said fist BUMP] each other.)
Well I for one still enjoy making smoothies (It's soothing and you have an excuse for not doing anything else). Also there were zero customers. I thought we had each others backs. I guess I was wrong. :(

I am not saying it can't be done, I am saying I would never expect it. That 30% discount is more than plenty. We also don't have limits on the amount of drinks, but I don't really think anyone tries to break the record for amount of drinks, so it's not like we need to have one.

I have never partner bev'd somebody from another store. When I go into another Starbucks, I expect to pay 70% of full price, just like any other off-duty partner. I didn't know some partners felt differently...
I have a different kind of "Come on, partners!! WTF??!?!" story, though. Today I went to a different Starbucks and ordered a triple tall americano. The STORE MANAGER (whom I've seen before, when she's come to my store) personally marked my cup and made my drink for me. She gave me a brewed coffee. Come on, really?
Posted 1 year ago # -
Please tell me you called her out on it!

I don't know wtf people were drinking in my store, but my SM had to crack down on partner beverages because it was throwing off the numbers.

@Sharpie
"gave her* my* numbers."
Whoops, that was a typeo. I wasn't trying to be a cockney.

@ GaveYouDecaf: Unfortunately, I was on my way somewhere else so I just took it and left. Didn't notice until I was in my car and I thought it smelled odd. Then I took a sip and thought, "NO WAY. Could it be?!" That was when I took the lid off the cup and saw that it was far too black to be an americano. :(
Thinking about mentioning this casually to my SM, though. "Hey, you know what was weird? I went to the ____ Starbucks the other day and M____ made my drink, but..."
Posted 1 year ago # -
a partner came in today, grabbed one of my cups, marked his own drink, smirked and set it down. MY PARTNER NUMBERS ARE 176......
Decaf.

I don't partner bev ****!
Posted 1 year ago # -
@shumway: I would never ever grab a cup at another store, partner or not. I get hostile when a perceived customer reaches for a cup, and I slap their hand away while demanding, "What are you doing?" He mos def deserved decaf for his pretentiousness.

I don't give any partner discounts, and if you give me sh-t about it, I'll overcharge you. :)
Seriously... I've had very few nice partners come in my store. They get attitude when I tell them I can't give them any partner discount. To which I respond, "I don't get a discount either." Even at my store, off the clock, I'm supposed to pay 100%. But, you know... I don't really hang out in the airport off the clock lol, so it doesn't matter.
There was one woman though, super nice... first thing she asked was, "Am I able to use my partner discount here?" I told her no... she said, "Oh, it's okay! I didn't think so. I just thought I'd ask..." then ordered... not overly modified. I undercharged and gave her a %10 airport employee discount. Which is the most I can do... and would do for a partner, if they're nice.

LOL, and Rick... for a second there I thought you had Mos Def grabbing your cups.

@shumway: we are at 176 employees already? Holy ****!
I don't typically partner bev baristas from other stores. Not because I don't want to, but because my SM would have a fit if I did.
That being said, when managers from other stores in our district come in to visit, we are expected to give them a FREE drink and not process it through the till...yet our SM gets mad at us if we offer her the same courtesy if she comes in on her day off.
Inconsistency much?

@OrangeBlossom: high 179-XXXXs already.
I'm almost always on register, so I can't give my own partner beverage. I'm not going to use my coworkers' numbers either.
It's all about the amount of courtesy we want to show other partners, and how much we're willing to skirt the rules.

I went in to a different sbux about 15 mins after work and ordered a black coffee. I said "Can you partner bev me?" gave my numbers, had to actually show my partner card AND state ID, and then she only discounted me. I know what Sexy Sharpie's saying, but still. Refused to partner bev me. Kinda made me sad :(
Posted 1 year ago # -
For a black coffee?? I give that away for free, partner or not. I don't even bother ringing it up.
Partner card and state ID is overkill. If people can state the last name, they're good to go in my book.
Posted 1 year ago # -
@StraightRazor, I would have done the partner bev in that situation but in my head I would have been thinking, why didn't you get this at your work... and I got asked for my ID the other day along with my partner numbers, which I thought was overkill. I was paying with my gold card anyway, which has my full name on it, I got that right before we got our new partner cards so I never even took mine home with me haha.
And I'm with everyone else on this, I always expect to pay 70% of the price at other stores and even my own on days off. I do have some partner friends who will partner bev me now and then (at my old store more than my current store) but I always expect to pay and it is rare that I partner bev anyone else.
Because I know what we have to deal with on a daily basis, I don't want to add to the douchebaggery by being a jerk customer, you know?Posted 1 year ago # -
I'm gonna be honest, that is pretty rude of you to expect to be partner bev'd for a drink at another 'bux in the first place, but then to expect to be partner bev'd for the worst drink of all time??? Isn't 30% enough?
As others have said, I always expect to pay for my drink (with my discount of course) at other Starbucks. If they accidentally (or on purpose) partner bev me, I throw the money I was going to use to buy my drink into the tip jar. If I'm at my own store and they give me a free drink (normally I only get a tall Pike anyway) I thank them and remember that I should give them a freebie next time they're in as a customer.
Never EXPECT free drinks, especially when you're not even at your own store.

If a partner or anybody with a partner ordered a smoothie, they got glares and sullen service from me and possibly decaf, depending on the 'tude. CERTAINLY not a partner bev for those kinds of smoothie shenanigans. I would partner bev anyone from my store if they came in on their days off, provided they weren't going to rat me out or some **** like that, and potentially partner bev people from other stores, depending on their drink and if they would tip. But smoothies will give you an automatic no in most people's books.
Posted 1 year ago # -
You're complaining because the 4.55 or so drink you get at a 30% percent discount wasn't free? Even though you can always get it free where/when you work?
It's not just a matter of policy. People would murder for our discounts. You sound kind of cheap right now.
Posted 1 year ago # -
.. I only use my discount on them rare occassions at other Buxes so I can give them moar tips..

I decaffed the last partner who asked for a partner beverage. He didn't even work in my district. You are no better than a disgustomer asking for a free drink.
However, I most definitely WILL "accidentally" press the partner beverage button if you...
1. Are nice
2. Don't order a smoothie (f*** smoothies)
3. Don't get mad when I tell you the full price before I know you are a partner (i.e. "Uhh, I'm a partner, I don't pay full price")
4. Don't fight with me when I ask, nicely, for some way to prove that you are using your numbers (e.g. last name, partner card, ID, etc.). My SM gets **** if I don't. When Simphony started printing our numbers on receipts, a few idiots thought they could get our discount. There are a few partners from neighboring stores that I don't think I have ever collected a dime from... but they had to earn it.
BTW, I usually love when partners are customers. They tend to be the most polite, and understanding of random mistakes. They also rarely use the DT. :)

I never partner bev because for some reason I only ever get douchey partners from other store. Well, I partner bev this partner that transferred out of my store to one down the street, but he is super cool and used to work with me there up until a few months ago. Other than that, it's like I get the butt partners of sbux!
Posted 1 year ago # -
I wasn't expecting, but I was hoping. Regardless, I payed via starbucks card and left a $2.50 tip just because I had $2.50 in my pocket. As for my own store, I would have but I was way out and was like "HOLY HELL A STARBUCKS CAFFEINE FIXXXXXXXXXXXXX"
And Dolly, you made me a smoothie once.... did you over-protein and spit in it?
