I've been lurking the forum for the last week or so and decided to make an account today.
First off, I applaud the lot of you fellow/former employees for putting up with all the crap that we put up with. People don't realize just how much of a thorn in our side they are with their "special drink" and whatnot.
The thing that gets me the most is the simple phrase "They do it for me in the morning." Now, I'm a closing shift, worked for Sbux for 5 years now and I hate getting that phrase from customers. Just because they bend over backwards just for you, doesn't mean I should do the same. For instance, one customer who I had never seen before in my life asked for an OMS with 3 scoops of protein and extra ice in a venti cup. I told her it only comes with 2 scoops and in a grande cup. "Well they do it for me in the morning." I did it for her, but I didn't want to.
It turns out this all came about when the smoothies first came out and we had extra in our blenders to give to customers to try. This woman wanted all of it in her cup. Then the recipe changed and upset that she couldn't get extra, she took it upon herself to adjust what we do to appease herself. Apparently the morning crew doesn't like her too much either. And the people that literally want half a caramel bottle swirled in the cup of their caramel macchiato.
So, as I jet out the door for another illustrious shift, what hacks you off the most?
