So I know I started this again, but that turned into something else.
And have another question.
So I am trying to get almost all of the week of Thanksgiving off.
I call my manager this morning to explain the situation to her and tell her that I needed X through X off, and she said I could definitely have all the days off EXCEPT Thanksgiving (the one that would actually be a challenge to get covered) Tells me she won't even be making the schedule til a week before Thanksgiving so I can't even set my plans in stone. When there's a reason I am trying to figure all this out two months in advance.
I had put myself on the short list of requests, but of course all the partners in my store are scum and wrote their names in between the people who actually thought to request that day off 3 months in advance. So even though I'm #3 on requests, she can't guarantee that I won't be scheduled.
She is suggesting that I call other stores and have a back up, but I don't understand how I can do that when in my opinion, the only people who will have that day off, are the people who requested it off and I can't really find someone in my district to say, Yeah I'll get that day off so in case you possibly maybe some way in the crazy universe happen to get scheduled, I'll cover it.
So here are my questions,
Should I just go ahead and go on the trip anyways? Assuming that because I am on the short list that I will get the day off (maybe my manager doesn't want to guarantee I'll get that day off for political reasons or whatever)?
Should I actually go with her ludacris idea and try to find some crazy person to be my backup?
And if I do happen to just plan the trip, and I do get scheduled, call around offering my savings to someone who can cover my shift a week in advance?
