So I've recently discovered that acting like a crazy person just gets me by at work. I tend to talk to customers about weird things, and make up stories about dinosaurs, or the zombie apocalypse... Plus I sing just about anything that comes to mind.
It's a lot easier than pretending to care about everybody's day, and I end to just coming off as kind of eccentric, yet lovable. But maybe that's just me.
Acting Nuts.

I'd like to just tell everyone how much I abhor them. Instead I look at them with dead eyes and say "$1.64"

Lol, Coffee Thoughts, I am the same way. Totally.

Most people at my store get through our days by talking in really high pitched voices and singing a lot, among other things. I think we all have and do things just to get through the day. If it works then more power to you!! lol

I love being weird and telling customers, "you know, bones aren't really dry inside. they're full of delicious, delicious marrow" while I make their cappuccinos. when they have trouble with the app, I talk about the eventual rise of technology against humans.

I don't like talking to customers. At all. Sometimes they try to talk to me though, and I have to play along. Every one of them has something to complain about, so... I listen... "Oh... yeah... I know... yeah... that's awful... yeah... that sucks... I know... well, havuhniceday!"
But I'm a complete lunatic with my coworkers. With one, we had a conversation for some time... just saying random words.
Asparagus.

LOL I've totally said weird things to customers. I don't know if I am not as amusing as I think I am, or if I am really convincing when I say/do things, but they rarely ever really got the joke or thought what I said was funny.
You know how it goes. I am my own biggest fan. And while I love it, sometimes I second guess if its so beneficial... Because if I am too weird, ya know, it is kind of a problem.

I usually talk with my fellow baristas behind the bar to deter any customer-barista conversation between myself and whoever is waiting for their beverage. Unless it's my fav regulars.
Yesterday I pretended to be Al Gore (the South Park version) and ran around saying "Manbearpig!" and "I'm super serial guise!". Neither of my partners on the floor watch South Park, but I was loling on the inside.

I WISH I could get away with that at my store!
We have one barista who has cornered the market on lovable-crazy. While the customers and fellow baristas love him, the shifts and sm don't have much tolerance for him...which I equate to their lack of humor!
It sucks working at a store where everyone is so super serious.

At our store we let out by shouting really loud.
"COLD BAR!"
"SAUSAGE AND TWO PINK BALLS!" (sausage breakfast thing and birthday cake pops)..I will shout two pink balls even if no one orders them."FRAPPE WITH EXTRA CARAMELO, GRANDE!"
I will get labeled cups from DT and throw it randomly really far just to confuse the crap out of everyone. Mostly everyone at our store sings at the top of their lungs when doing dishes so crapstumers can hear them. When someone spills milk I will shout "HEY!!!....guess what!?!?! YOU DROPPED THE MILK!!!"
We will play soccer with cups while customers are being waited to be served. We play the sbux rant song on loop on an iPad that is velcroed to the wall (when SM/ASM isn't there).
SM always goes nuts when there are frappes "NO MORE FRAPPUCHINOS!!!!"
Once, I dropped a pumpkin muffin on the floor, got frustrated and threw the rest of the muffins on the floor while smashing the mini plate while no one was looking just for the lulz. Also , sometimes sneak a CO2 charger in the oven and turn it on. Tis the bomb! Literally :D (I want to try a whole pack of 10 (or 12, however many there are...or even a whole box of 600 something) would be the ultimate way to quit.

It's nice to know I'm not alone. XD
I tend to yell SO MANY THIIIIINNGGGSS when I have a lot of drinks... Me and a few partners will yell from the drive thru area "ANOTHER VANILLA, MAKE ME A VANILLA I WANT ONE NOW!" and various other things. :PPosted 1 year ago # -
Charger in the oven?
TELL ME MORE
We used to bomb on our customers... in front of their face. That was really the night crew that'd do that LOL. If someone would order a drink wrong, whoever was on register would be like *CACKLE* *CACKLE* *SNORT* *SNORT* "Why would she order an extra fat latte? #WhereDeyDoDatAt" to all the partners and we'd all die. It totally depended on who the shift was, though.

I used to sing, a lot. My favorite was when I'd be singing the Best Little Whorehouse in Texas and got to the Miss Mona's No No Rules part. Some of the looks I got were priceless.

"Please don't show me no tatoos, no hearts and flowers on your thighs. It's downright tacky. Brands belong on cattle, and that ain't what we're selling at Miss Mona's."
