   So, I've been working at sbux for over a year now, and I gave my two weeks notice about a week ago. I also have been lurking on this board for over a year...

   I'm working a new job now and this Thursday I have to work 8:30am-4:30pm there, and then go in to sbux from 5:30-10:30 to close. I really don't want to work the sbux shift that night. I've contacted the partners who have thursday off that day, and they gave excuses why they can't cover...Called every store within reasonable distance to mine yesterday and no partners got back to me saying they could cover..

   I'm considering calling out for the first time ever, what do you guys think I should do?

   I agree with OrangeBlossom. Plus as long as you do it at least 4 hours in advance they can't do anything to you.

   I think it's unfair to the other partners when people who are leaving do that. I have been one of those partners who has been left hanging by a partner not showing up for their last shift and it sucks. If you totally hate your coworkers then sure, go ahead. But if you have any respect for them, just do it. It sucks, but just tell yourself that it's your last day and remind yourself that you will never have to do that ever again.

   I think it comes down to a matter or respect for other people.

   I say just show up. It's only five hours and you never have to go back again.

   Yup- what DTQueen said. If you work with people who are really crappy then just call out- but if they're good people, then just work it- I am just thinking of how much it would suck for them to be in that position of being down a closer at the last minute.

   Yeah, I'm really just **** that I couldn't find coverage at all, well in advance.

   and then, I called the store yesterday to tell them I was going to be late today, and my SM couldn't talk because other partners had called out sick, and she needed to be on the floor...so glad I'm almost done...

   But when people give two weeks notice and they're scheduled three or even four weeks later, I couldn't be mad at them for showing up, especially if they traded it for another full time job.
