As far as I am concerned, the sooner starbucks collectively pack up and return to the great void they emerged from, the better!!! I hope that the remaining stores go the same way. We don't want them. We dont need them. Its time we ejected the interlopers from out shores. They dont give a hoot about their employees, only about profits. If they did care, they would have given a bit more notice of impending closures. Nice to see that they are driven by nothing more than the love of money....the root of all evil!!!
Bye bye starbucks, I for one will not be sad to see the back of you.

Sorry to tell you....Starbucks will never go back to the void.
As long as the celebrities willing to grace the inside of a SBUX, as long as there are fans who are willing to copy celebrities, as long as there are people who believe that spending money on an overpriced coffee/Fraps is "cool", etc.
SBUX will still be around. I truly doubt SBUX would actually go away.

I agree with starsucks, I dount they will ever go away. They are far too engrained in the culture to ever just go away. I think there time as the one and only coffee shop is over, and they will have to share the top spot with a few other coffee shops.
But saying Starbucks will go away would be like saying I hope McDonalds closes, or that they stop making BUd Light. It won't happen.Posted 4 years ago # -
I'm not happy per se about stores closing because I have friends losing jobs but I do know what you mean. The Days of the evil empire are coming to and end. The bucks will never go away but will never dominate the market as they once did. They will be like kmart, still around but third at best and always talking about the glory days.
It's funny, most baristas knew that bucks could not continue to grow and stay small but people who make/made millions per year didn't. I can't believe Jim Donald became the scapegoat for the fall, i met the man a couple of times and had nothing but respect for him. But now howie is in charge so it will all be ok, good luck with that.
What happened is typical of most evil empires, the greed of and lack of the infrastructure did them in. They saw the market they created being stole from them and worked so hard to get it back that they lost sight of the big picture.I can't begin to tell you how much money I saw thrown away because of a lack of proper management.Posted 4 years ago # -
I am guessing Booboobear is an Aussie! Where there is a slight possibility of the "Bux crawling back under the rock from whence it came. Australia and New Zealand both moved pretty much straight to what some commentators call "third wave" coffee shops - usually indie stores with a very strong focus on quality passing over "second wave" operators like Starbucks who introduce the market to espresso in the form of milk based speciality drinks.

Agreed. The bux isnt going anywhere anytime soon. I dont actually care for the bux as much as I used to and im lucky that i live in an area obsessed with coffee so i have plenty of options. But im moving back to cali next year and am not looking forward to not having my fave place anymore. The bux dominates where im from.
