So....what do I hate about my job? Almost every-f'ing-thing!! We recently got a new manager....she is flippin' crazy. We used to get to work at 4:30am to open by 5. Well noooow we have to be there by 4:15 so we can open by 5. Why? Because she stands around and does nothing while the other opener does EVERYTHING. Iced tea, iced coffee, pastry case, grinding coffee, brewing coffee, setting up the bars, slicing bagels, etc, etc, etc. She goes outside and vacuums the sidewalk. I'm not even kidding. She vacuums the sidewalks and walls on a daily basis.
Get this....she wont let me transfer because we don't have enough employees, but she wont give me more hours because we have too many employees working. W-T-F?
I had a customer call in today (thursday) because she burned her arm on coffee on TUESDAY!! Apparently it's my fault too. How? BOTH the cups and the lids say "watch the f out, this **** is hot!" And she wasn't even on the property when she burned herself. She said that I filled her cup too full. .....? Are you serious? Really? You morons complain if it isn't up to the damn rim, and then complain when you spill it and burn yourself. Make up your mind. There are a TON of customers that I love and get along with great....but there are a select few of you that really need to get a damn life.
I have hours more to rant about...but I wont torture you all.

Welcome, you are among like minded people who understand exactly what you are going through. Vent as much as you need until you find a better job. Start looking asap. Once the veil is lifted there is no going back, you will never like this job, so you may as well get another job.
The funny thing is you even get a manager that goes in that early, most I have seen don't go in until 8-10am.

Yes, I even had a customer ask her where her vacuum was one day. I chuckled...she didn't get the obvious joke he was making.

.... glad I don't work at your store. That SM is pretty crazy...

Gees and I thought my manager was OCD about the cleaning!

Maybe we can "re-deploy" mgrs like this to pertpetual clean sweep....yeah, the baristas and shifts take over the previous role of mgr such as generating schedules and placing accurate supply orders. Then the mgrs could simply streamline their time and effort into cleaning FULL TIME (toilets, scrubbing drains & grout). they can fufill their obsessions while we run the store. Imagine the possiblities.....

Sounds good to me!
I just got in from what would have been my sixth day this week. Seems that the SM forgot to tell the pm barista she needed him in the morning. The upside is the previously scheduled am barista also hadn't seen the new roster and I didn't really want to work so when the pm barista came in I was perfectly happy to go! But it could have all got very very ugly.
I have also come to the conclusion that my SM's problem is partly that we are an old store in need of renovation. So no matter how much you clean it never looks clean so she goes nuts. Like i say OCD neat freak!

DarkRoast, I like what you're saying. And I thought it was only the manager at MY store who is obsessed with clean drains and spotless grout between the floor tiles.
