Have any of you guys gone through the coffee master program? Is it hard? What do you have to do?

Bug your SM for ages and have him never, ever, ever get around to getting you through the certification program, even though he likes you and wants you to go through it. The reason? Not enough non-coverage hours, there are never enough. Hardly enough for the SM's to even get admin done at all these days. Not their fault, corporate's. Is it worth it? You don't get more pay for it. You don't really learn anything you don't already know. You get to wear a cool apron though, and bragging rights I guess.
The changed the program awhile back and everyone had to be re-certified, for no reason at all. Basically they make you learn about all coffee's and coffee accessories Starbucks sells. Learn about their C.A.F.E or (Coffee and Farmer Equity Practices), learn about how Starbucks over-roasts their beans and how you can try to convince people that Starbucks doesn't (even though yes, yes, they do). And all that coffee tasting stuff everyone is supposed to bloody know anyway. Then you have a public coffee tasting with your DM, some partners, and customers and your DM signs off on it and you get to wear a cool apron.
The idea is, the store now has someone who is great at spin control on Starbucks burnt coffee, isn't the SM but knows a lot about coffee tastings, is good at pushing coffee and upping sales, and the company doesn't have to pay one extra cent. Pretty sweet deal for them, eh? I guess you could put it on your resume, but I doubt any company hiring you would really care.
If you want to do it, make sure it's because you really, really, LOVE coffee. Otherwise it's a waste of time, because the only real thing you are going to gain from it is being able to wear a black apron that says "coffee master". And make sure you really enjoy conducting coffee tastings, with customers, because you will probably be pressured to do so, a lot, even though you are not getting paid anything extra for this extra training you did.

I thought about it for a while. I'd only do it if my SM specifically said that she wants a coffee master at our store.
