I swear it makes me flip my lid. No where in my job description does it say I am meant to cater large amounts of drinks and food to a place, no matter how damn close it may be. I don't care if your Retail Department Store's holiday event with your employees and if you'd really like to make an order over the phone for coffee and treats. You come to the store, and you pick up whatever ridiculous amount of expensive dirt water and stale pastries you want. I will not take your orders over the phone, I will not deliver them to you. Period.
It's a frustrating thing when you are instructed to pick up the phone because your SS is busy eating lunch somewhere, having some woman huff and puff at you over the phone because you refuse to take her order over the phone. What part of "We don't make orders over the phone, sorry. We have no way to charge you over it and by no means have a way to reserve your food and drink for two weeks from now, with or without payment" DON'T YOU UNDERSTAND?
Long version:
"Good afternoon, Starbucks [BLEEP], WhateverMilk speaking, how may I help you?"
"Yes, Hello. I'm from [insert retail store name here] and I want to make an order to be delivered for our holiday party the 17th."
"Oh, I'm sorry ma'am. We don't take order over the phone and we don't have a delivery service. :)"
"I doubt that. I know someone how says they've ordered from you guys over the phone before, not your store but one in a town close to you, and THEY take orders."
"Ma'am, sorry no, we don't take order on the phone and no Starbucks that I know of in this area has a delivery service, as well as we have no way to insure you that what you are ordering will stay in stock for the exact date you expect to pick it up."
"It's delivery. I'm not going to pick it up, you bring it to our store."
"... Ma'am, we don't do delivery, sorry. What you can do is come by early that day to the store during and order what you'd like to take with you."
"I don't know where your store is. I just want to order 4 Cambros of coffee and milk and about enough pastries for a group of 40 people. I'm sure you can manage to have that on that date."
"Ma'am, even if we could, which I cannot assure you we will, we do not take orders over the phone, nor do we deliver. You'd need to physically arrive at the store and place your order. Sorry :)"
"I demand to speak to who is in charge."
I proceed to explain that she would need to call back in about 30 minutes, because the person in charge is out at the moment. She begins to yell at me about how HARD IT WAS to find the number on the website because our phone number is not ACTUALIZED in it's directory. Well you found it lady, you are somehow calling us now, so just call back in 30. Fast forward to her hanging up upset saying she would call corporate on us for not cooperating and Shame on me for not trying to brighten some store's holiday party because I was uncooperative.
Seriously? Happy fuggin holidays to you, bring US some holiday cheer, whydontcha?
