   This question is for the pro-SBUX managers that seem to know it all.

   Is there any reason why a plexi that is used to collect tips should be moved from the register, meaning there is only one on a two register counter?

   If the tips were counted say on a Saturday, when the regular day to count them would be a Sunday, would you question why it was done that day, or is it protocol to count them arbitrarily?

   Also, a partner's husband and two kids were with her and the SS while they were counting tips in the backroom, is that allowed? I can understand if another partner was in the room with them, but it made me very uncomfortable, considering that some of that cash they are counting is mine.

   And if the tips dispersed came out to be substantially lower than usual, should there be a reason for alarm?

   I am a little uneducated on the tips procedures. And I am not complaining about the crappy tips or the the people that don't tip- it is not expected or actually customary to tip in SBUX anyway. I am just concerned why the protocols aren't explained to each partner because they work hard or maybe work for those tips, and it is calculated into the pay anyway.

   I'm not a manager, but I can tell you that it is NEVER protocol to have any employee behind the counter or in the back who is not on the clock. There are many reasons for this, but the one that is most logical to me is that it is a liability for Sbux. If one of these people injured themselves in any way, guess who has to pay for it and could also be sued? Yup, good ol Sbux. And since they are neither on the clock or even employees for that matter - worker's comp won't cover the costs either. I could be wrong, but this is how I understand it.

   The procedures for tips should be in your Partner Resources Manuel which should be somewhere in your back room. Usually above the manager's work station.

   And yes, that would alarm me immensely and you have every right to report it.

   Children should never be anywhere behind the counter/in the back. That is freaking amazing to me!

   You think that is good my SM had her partner in the office while she was preparing the banking and checking the safe! Fortunately that was one of the rare days that everything balanced. My SM is notorious for the safe being out!

   You betta check somebody's pockets!
   Non-employess NEVER should go in our backroom-safety & security issue. The rules with our tips are loose, but still, they are counted on the same day every week by the same barista. You might want to call Partner & Asset Protection. The number should be posted by the Emergency Contact info.

   Another note is that since ASM and SM postions are salary based, they don't get tips. In my district it's "against rules" for a ASM or a SM to even TOUCH tips. baristas/shifts manage everything.

   In my region, SM's & ASM's CANNOT touch tips. They can witness a drop or pull them from the inner safe to give to the tip counter.
   Make sure to verify tip drops and retrievals by bag number & date.that's the only way to prevent or identify "discrepancies"!
