This happened alot at the bux when i was there but today at my current job (a national chain hardware store) a customer full on lied to my store manager about what happened when i did a return for her. she had a receipt so i got to the total and informed her that the amount would go back on the card she paid with. She said she didnt have the card with her and i explained that its fine because she had the receipt. And that the money would just got back on the card. She was perfectly fine with it. I finish the transaction and have her sign the receipt. She starts to walk away and i thought i was done with her. All of a sudden she got an attitude and says she wanted cash and i didnt ask if putting it back on the card was ok with her. So i call my supervisor and she explains that we cant reverse it but if she wants to she can re buy the items and we can return it again for cash. She demands to speak with my store manager. (he was out to lunch) so she calls one of our assist managers and he tells her the exact same thing. then she still demanded my sm...he happened to come back from lunch. He then tells her the EXACT same thing. She lies and lies that i didnt ask her, ect. She claims she spent $1,000 at my store...blah blah blah...my kid is disabled....blah blah blah. She demanded our company CEOs phone number....which my sm says she will not be able to get to him directly. She accuses my SM that he doesnt even know who the CEO is...( i later find out they have actually met). Anyway, it made me SO mad that this betch lied to my SMs face about what happened while i was listening. Anyone ever have a customer flat out lie about what JUST happened?
LIES!!!

That's just a standard business practice that you return the funds in the same method they were given to you. So many people get Sbux cards from other people then buy merch and then try to return it for cash. This one chick at my store had her parents auto reload set for the card so she was buying **** and then returning it all day at multiple stores. Drug money I guess.

I had a customer try to claim that I PURPOSEFULLY knocked his drink onto his bag when I actually had my back turned the whole time, doing coffee cadence. He wanted to fill out an incident report until my SM said that corporate would investigate and 'helpfully' offered to pull the camera footage. . .and then pointed to the camera over the POS. the guy packed up his sh!t so fast and was out the door. I guess he wanted to try to social engineer free stuff out of SB and realized that neither my SM or I were going to tolerate it.

I just would have let her complain. If she has to ask you for the CEO's number, odds are she couldn't find it herself.
Or call her bluff.
