Seriously I cant get it. I HATE when people ask or no foam because I always manage to leave a little bit of foam and then the customer checks and complains. To me it's ridiculous buttt if anyone has some tips id appreciate it :)

ESPECIALLY the soy. damn the soy!

Extra hot wet soy = **** off
Basically I just refuse to aerate it and stand and listen smugly whilst the milk screams and deafens people for miles around.

Steam and aerate as usual, set pitcher aside for about 30 seconds or so, pour. Foam will "separate" from milk. Time may very, but I discovered this when I left the steamed milk sitting for a short time before pouring.

Just don't aerate it like @girino3 said. Saves time, and you're sticking it to the man.

No aeration, as stated above... and then also, let sit. Anyone who wants no foam will have to wait an extra few minutes for their drink. :)

Ugh this lady orders a double tall 2 pump mocha 2 pump toffee nut soy 170 degree no whip no foam no FROTH mocha. She brings it back at least three times to have my remake it becuase there is FROTH ALL THE TIME (WTF). So i just started to steam a **** ton of soy milk. LIke all the way to the top. Then I scoop a bunch off with the spoon into the sink before i even pour it. When its poured its only milk and no foam or nothing.
Who cares if i waste a ton of soy? Im gonna waste it anyway becuase she b!tches and makes us remake it 3 times!!

we have a regular who comes through DT and gets a 180 degree no foam soy latte. Lovely. She's used to waiting like four minutues now for that stuff to settle.

I have a few regulars who order no-foam drinks. While a majority of no-foam customers are idiots who don't appreciate real lattes, being able to make no-foam steamed milk is good practice.
Dry Sharpie's method:
1. add large spoon to milk pitcher.
2. add milk to slightly above measured line
3. aerate briefly (a split second), then let it steam
4. remove finished milk, clean steam wand
5. place cup and pitcher in full view of the customer (watch this)
6. using the spoon, hold back the foam while pouring milk
7. tap off foam from spoon into pitcher, then use spoon to scoop any leftover foam from drinkYes, I aerate the no-foam milk. What what in the butt.

EXACTLY what Dry Sharpie said. Just use extra milk!

Thanks guys! I have this **** customer who always comes in and orders four venti drinks NO FOAM. He always gets free drinks with the stupid recovery coupons because he manages to find a speck of foam every time.
I dont understand how starbucks doesn't realize that by constantly handing those things out we create spoiled customers. I mean I totally understand people should get what they want because they pay for it but COME ON. you wont die if you have a little piece of foam. By letting the customer dictate how we do our jobs, customers think they know best ALWAYS and treat us like we're idiots. **** the just say yes policy. thats how you create monster customers. At some point a line needs to be drawn.Anyways..sorry for the little rant. Ive had a few days off and I go back tomorrow and I'm really looking forward to it as im sure you all can tell :) haha.

ohheyitskandace: I have begun to hate the damn recovery certificates. I don't mind giving them out if one of us legitimately **** up or something, but the majority of the time, we end up giving them out to stop the incessant whining. So essentially, it's positive reinforcement. If they whine, they get a free drink. So they have started whining about anything and everything. And, you guessed it, the no foam customers are definitely near the top of the list. I cringe every time my coworkers hand them out to shut up the customers. I only give one if they deserve it.

We don't have any recovery coupons at my stores... and... in a year, I've only had one customer straight up ask me for one (and it wasn't justified).
I can remake the drink. I can give a refund. I will not be giving away anything for free, now or in the future. Personally, if I had access to recovery coupons, I wouldn't give away any at all. :)
Yep... we made you the wrong drink, yes, it was our fault... but this can be resolved right now with us remaking the drink. Why do they need a second drink? Unless they open it up and there's cockroaches in it, then they can get fcked.
As an added bonus, when I can get away with it (my supervisor isn't around) I will tell customers we don't take recovery coupons. ;) "Sorry... we're licensed store..."

^And yet... you didn't give me any internets.

my method is
1. use extra milk, aerate as usual
2. overfill cup until you kind of form a dome at the top
3. use a spoon to scoop the foam from the top.I think I do a good job of no foam. try it out.

Microwave the milk.
I would hate the old lady orders.. NO foam, just because they don't want the foam to get all stuck up in their mustache! :-O

I loved the extra hot, no foam, uncut eggnog people at christmad time. Sure I can do that, everyone..plug your ears.

In the past, I've poured extra milk, but lately I've just been cheating on the aerating. I'll aerate for one or two seconds, then go from "tip just submerged" to "tip pressed against the bottom of the pitcher" immediately. Keeps it from screeching, and fully submerging for a few seconds seems to keep the foaming to a minimum.

Let that milk scream...
Thank you!

Guy called in a complaint to our DM because he's been to three stores in the area and apparently nobody can satiate his unyielding first-world quest for the perfect extra-hot, no-foam venti latte. We had to have a foaming refresher course the other night since our store is his new haunt.
DEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEECAFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF.

There is always going to be some foam on top of a latte. If I get any complaints and I 100% know I followed proper drink making procedures I have refused to remake the drink and just taken them up for a refund.
I'm not wasting 3 + pitchers of milk because your xtra hot soy peppermint mocha has a tiny dollip of bubbles at the top.
I fill it up with extra extra milk, let it sit, then pour. Amazingly enough I still have people ask to remake. I just wont do it! It's insanely wasteful and I tell them that. I had some woman make me remake her drink twice, finally I just took her up for a refund. This was after she complained her "skinny" frapp had no whipped cream or drizzle. Resources like milk are not bottomless. There's a point where I just say enough and wont remake something. I might steam a bit more milk and top it off, but I will not remake the entire latte. I think we allow customers to abuse the policy of always pleasing them. Simple things like "oh I actually prefer caramel at the bottom of my cup instead of on the top... can you remake it?" teach people it's K to waste.

Yeah don't aerate it dude. Nothing is more fulfilling than showing off my no-foam free pour. Pwned.

"deafens people for miles around." made my morning, but i do the SAME! eff em, i free pour ALWAYS, regardlessof foaming need (aside from espresso machiatos).

You should always aerate the milk, foam or no foam. Pretty much what DrySharpie said... always make sure to pour a little more milk than usual so that you have some room for error. You just aerate it like usual, lightly for about 3 seconds. When the milk is done you just need to let it sit for about 10-20 seconds. Also if you tap the bottom of the pitcher on the counter a few times it will help the milk & foam separate more quickly. Maybe the last part is a hoax but I always do it & I've never had a problem with no foam drinks. :X If you're making a breve or soy drink with no foam then those milks may need to sit a little longer.

i tap the bottom of the pitcher on the counter as well, and always let it aerate for a couple of seconds.. letting it sit and "settle" definitely works too. i'm very paranoid about having ABSOLUTELY NO FOAM on no foam drinks ever since a lady yelled at me during training over a few bubbles. i hate no foam drinks but if i see a little bit of foam poured into it i freak.
i think the majority of no foam drinkers are just so used to sudsy nasty foam that they assume it's always like that but it's not! i so want to convert no foam people. gahhhPosted 10 months ago # -
I wish I could just not aerate the milk like I used to but our new SM is very big on that, especially for no-foam drinks. SM hates the screeching. I do too, but I hate that you have to wait for the foam to separate.

I just tell people that order extra hot soy no foam (in my sweeeeeeetest voice) that it's really hard to get soy milk extra hot AND foam-free. So you're GONNA have foam. Don't like that? Tough. YOU make it.

sorry...I'm all for customer service and all that....but I simply don't get paid enough to deal with that kind of garbage. Give me a $15/hr raise and we'll talk.
