I worked near LA. I was going to grad school and took my SB job to help defray my day to day needs for coffee and food. It was a technical program and I really had no intention of staying in the area after school was wrapped up. So it was about March 4 2006, my last final exam of my college career lie just a few hours down the day for me. it was in Matrix Algebra. I had been up the evening before preparing quite late and S.O.B I woke at about 4:20am and I had to be in the store, to open at 4:30. I was only three months on the job but had so far had a great attendance record. I got there at 4:50. The "lady" who was opening the store that morning...the 'key' was furious. I didn't have her or anyone else's number I could have called, I did my best. She, treated me so unlike you would want to be treated...and so unlike I wanted to be treated...she spoke to me like I was a six year old and she was, God forbid, my mom. I dealt with it and as I was approaching her and the store door I took my phone out and was setting it to silent mode when she said to me "Oh don't you start playing with that phone MISTER! You put it away and after what you've done today, you don't have time for that phone". My lack of sleep, the stress of finals and the knowledge that in a couple of days I would have resigned flashed into my face, with the fury of an angry lion. I walked on her. She had to put the pastry case together that morning and I let her know that. I walked into the store a day later to pick up my 'last check' and tips. The silence was eerie. Clearly, no one was interested in even asking me what happened. So much for Starbucks big blow hard ethics and how it teaches its employees to respect one another. At least not in my store. As I left, the Store Manager said to me "I knew I shouldn't have taken the chance on you". I'm not sure what that meant, but THIS is why I HATE STARBUCKS. How sorry I am to have crossed their path.

I would have just been like, "Ya know? I feel the same way "

You should have tried to remedy the situation by asking her to a couple of those Maxrix Algebra problems. If she could, you would do whatever she wanted you to do.

So lucky, I wished I was fired, you don't have to go through, telling you boss why you can't work for them. If only.

Thanks to all who replied. It just bugs me that when I had to apply for government jobs...I had to include that entry on my CV. It hasn't hurt but ya just never know. And I enjoyed working there! But someone had to have some respect for me.
