On customers obviously taking advantage of our "kindness" aka, customer service.
I feel like I need to be setting some ground rules for myself.
I find myself giving a discount, or finding a way for people to get what they want for a more realistic price.
Examples: Orders a Venti coffee, want half coffee and half cold milk (either nonfat or 2%) and I find myself only charging them for a tall coffee.
Customer orders a Latte with Caramel syrup, and caramel drizzle, I just charged her for a Caramel Macchiato, sub Caramel Syrup.
But then I get irritated with customers who want Trenta B/G/P Tea, No H2O.
I think the difference between them demanding it/me helping out is what does it for me.
But anyways. Here is the point of this story:
A customer comes through my DT tonight, orders a Venti Zen with One teabag. I tell her the total, meet her at the window, Tell her the total again. Then she somewhat demands that I charge her for a tall because that is what everyone else does, and she did only want one teabag.
So to her I suggest that I will charge her for a Grande, since the Grande only gets one teabag as well and makes the most sense since what she is really paying the difference for is the Venti cup and extra water rather than the tall. She then tells me to just charge her for a tea bag, and she'll just make it at home. I'm in the middle of a mini rush, so I just **** it and charge her for a tall, and then tell her I'll just charge her for a tall this time but I won't promise her we can always do that because she is really taking advantage of us. She drives away probably happy as ****.
To further prove my point this customer comes through our DT all the time asking for venti cups of hot water and then sugar and stuff, explaining she bought a tea earlier and blah blah blah. She never really tips us for going out of our way to get her a cup of hot water with sugars and sticks included, and I just figure if she scratches my back, I'll scratch hers.
