I Hate Starbucks

   So, it's my last week at Starbucks. I got a job in my field and I am finally going to just focus on grad school and my career and quit fukkin' around. I'm a little sad to leave, mainly just because I'll miss my bros on the closing crew and the benefits and free coffee were pretty awesome, too.

   Anyway, Indie Pop Grind has been my favorite playlist for the entirety of my almost two year time here. (Close seconds: Frappy Hour mix and Senses Working Overtime) So imagine my extreme sadness yesterday when I went in the back to turn it on, and IT WASN'T THERE. In its place are a million New Orleans and blues playlists. WTF. I know that it will be back (they always rotate!), but this is my last week. I know that it's not going to magically reappear next Tuesday. SADFACE to the extreme.

   That's all, I just needed to holler.

   you are my favorite for making a thread all about the different stations. frappy hour mix kicked a$$. i hope it's good this year too. i miss the beatles mixes too. we overplayed them real quick, but they still made the early mornings just a tad less sucky.

   The Beatles mixes were pretty good. I usually don't mind half of what's on the Contemporary Grind mixes, but those also contain my least favorite songs, which I know only because of lyrical content.

   Such as:
   "Gotta get back, do I do. Gotta get back, do-de-do-do-dooooo."
   "I was thinking last night about Elvis. Then he died, then he died."
   "That was then and this is now that was then and this is nowwwwww." <--That one's on Indie Pop, but I deal with it.

   Indie pop grind is the best playlist on there! In my two years at the bucks they've always had it. That list is how my fav shift and I survive openings :-( This is very disappointing!!

   On another note, that gotta get back song has got to be the worst song ever. It's played constantly at my store and will get stuck in my head for hours. :-(

   the indie pop playlist is still at my store? it's my fave besides BILLY JOEL OPUS awwww yeah

   sometimes i put on the soul or chill playlists too. senses working overtime ruled, good call. the usual opening shift puts on the reggae one EVERY DAY and i love how they have old ska on it but when i drag my hungover **** in i'm not in the mood for the specials.

   THEY TOOK OUT THE BILLY JOEL PLAYLIST. i discovered this tonight when i was closing. it was this one shift and i closing, and the two of us really liked it. everyone stands and sways along when "piano man" comes on, and i always sang along to "movin' out".

   Senses Working Overtime disappeared with Holiday rollout and never came back.

   we found that playlist that had prince on it ("when doves cry") but i think they took that one out in the newest update. i think i'd get a little too into that song, though.

   is indie pop grind the one with death cab for cutie on it?

   i swear there was also one playlist that had gotye on it, but i can't find it now.

    there are a couple playlists with death cab for cutie on them. indie pop grind for sure has i will follow you into the dark and crooked teeth and contemporary grind has their cover of love song. i also closed tonight and we had indie pop grind available until at least 8:30pm, (which is the last time i changed the music) and the billy joel one until 5ish (the last time i put that one on).

    yeah i totally remember hearing gotye the other day. maybe it was indie pop? i miss the one with belle & sebastian from last summer/fall (was that also indie pop?). one of my coworkers (50-something year old guy) loudly bitches about billy joel when we put it on, so we've stopped just to avoid his babyish drama, but if i had my way it would be billy, beatles, indie, and senses all day erry day. maybe with some jazz and reggae mixed in.

    We still have our frappy hour playlist and since my manager is sick of the others, she just plays that one all day. Not too bad and I like most of those songs better than all the other playlists anyway. Haven't been able to find indie pop grind. Sad times.

    John Legend's Save Room and David Bowie's Golden Years are my FAVES. The whole frappy hour mix makes it worth working there.

    i'm obsessed with picking good music in the store, mainly because our store is so quiet, we end up listening to the music.

    there's three new Johnny Cash playlists! and a bunch of weird french-themed playlists? i have no idea why we have those. i haven't listened to this month's Contemporary Grind playlist yet. but yay decent music! the mother's day playlist was the worst, and i'm really sick of Brazil-Meets-Cuba.

    I was so angry when I realized it was gone. My coworkers didn't believe me until they looked and now our whole store is in mourning. haha I usually put on one of the Contemporary Grind 119 playlists because they both have some pretty good music. I really like Of Monsters and Men and they are on both Part 1 and Part 2 of Contemporary Grind 119.

    I LOVED the indie pop/indie grind wells because they had Spoon! They're probably one of my top five bands. The Johnny Cash and Friends playlist is getting put on repeat currently. I heard a playlist put on a new John Mayer song, but couldn't get BOH in time to figure out which one it was.

    the johnny cash one is good, but repeats too often. i went on my half, & when i came back the song that was playing as i was doing my bus was playing again.

    i have no idea which playlists these were on, but i was really excited when i heard shadow stabbing by cake, i'm yours by jason mraz &... maybe i heard plain white tee's rhythm of love?
    but i went to another starbucks, & they had spice girls playing. i'm transferring to that one. actually.

    I think there's some random channel that drops in little gems from time to time. It's kinda odd. I'll occasionally hear a song and pray it comes on again, and it never will. :(
