I just started at Starbucks and I was told we paid too much money for the word "Frappuccino" and that the word "Fraps" are not allowed.
Does your store allow it?

what the mother f. Great Value, only stupid ignorant customers call it a frap. Do you consider yourself one of them?
McDonald's Customer: Can I get a caramel frap?
Dry Sharpie: What size did you want your caramel frapPU-CCI-NO?
McDonald's Customer: Regular.
Dry Sharpie: "NO!" [bangs fist on counter] "Next customer!"
I worked at another place for six years serving Starbucks coffee (not being an actual one), and that is how I was taught.
I am not one of them and I understand your frustration. I've never run into that problem, however. I'm sorry you have.
I usually say, "What size would you like? We have tall, grande or venti."
I wish I could say Crapaccino but ya Starbucks has its Frappuccino trade marked...so it must be really expensive in terms of cost...
The word "Frappuccino" is trademarked by Starbucks. Other restaurant giants such as McDonald's call their ice-blended-sugar-water drink equivalent a "frappe."
You wouldn't go into a McDonald's to order a whopper... so don't go into a Starbucks to get a caramel mocha frappe.
EDIT: I don't mean to bust your balls Great Value, but customers calling it a frap is my pet peeve.
@Dry Sharpie, I do that too. Correct them. MY pet peeve IS the designation "regular". I seethe when that term is used. "Regular what!? Tall, Grande or Venti?" Disgustomer: "I dunno, you know, the regular size." @$"%$@#%*:"#$&
I think the thing that confuses some is that home blenders have a "frappe" button.
People always ask me for the "regular" size at my store. If I'm in a crappy mood I just grab a venti and start writing on it, and they usually go "No no no no" -_-
I HATE "regular"....and its worse cousin, "normal!" Who **** orders a "normal" sized anything....and people even use "normal" as a flavor! FML!
I don't know what regular or normal is. You come in, get me at the register, and a order a regular coffee or regular size, you're getting a medium Pikes. Medium roast, medium size.
Otherwise, SPECIFY.
I make people say what size when they say regular... like, I won't give them anything until they tell me a size.
Customer: I want a regular coffee.
Me: Okay, but what size?
Customer: regular
Me: Okay, but what size?
Customer: *looks really confused all of a sudden* OH! GRANDE!!
@eightpumpchai, YES. Me too. And sometimes people in line help me out as we are a VERY busy store and the line can get long...they yell sizes at the clueless person ordering "regular". Yay.
We do call it Frap Roast when we're talking about needing more made - at my store.
At my store we all say 'frap.' I don't think I've ever heard it mentioned, or anyone be remotely bothered by it.
To each store their own, I guess.
We say frap to each other all the time. Just not to customers.
Yes, never to the customer. It is truly crude and vulgar speak and I will have none of it.
You want a 'frap'? Get wanged before I shove a spoodle up your fartbox.
We say frap to each other, and it used to bother me when customers would order "fraps" or "frappés" or even "ice blended" but now I don't care anymore. I will willingly parrot back "medium mocha ice blended" to confirm their drink order because I could spend the time trying to educate them doing something else. I almost always call it out properly though, as frappuccinos.
Oh and we used to have a DM that would make us say the whole trademarked name. So it would be "venti java chip frappuccino blended coffee" which was one of the more stupid policies I've experienced.
I was taught that policy dictates we say the full proper name of everything. Customers don't care though.
I won't be caught dead saying "double CHOCOLATELY chip." It's a "double chocolate chip."
^I prefer "double cha-cha".
Hand-gernade frappe? Gladly.
Don't ask why I duck upon handoff though.
Is this site American? Just realized that now lol...thank God we don't have Frappe in Canada yet, and I did not have any customer saying Frappe, and I was eagerly waiting for someone to say it...hehe
Suckbuck, this site isn't "American." Anyone who's a former or current partner, including licensed Starbucks cafes/kiosks, and even customers can post on this forum. We have partners from the UK, and Canadians as well.
"frappe" sucks, but my pet peeve is the size of the cup. The customer can remember all the different flipping modifiers but when it comes to cup size everyone is reduced to a 40 IQ.
haha my SM told a new girl the exact same thing a while ago.
Oh and "fartbox". Hilarious Senior! I give you Internets! You made me snort cereal out my nose this morning,
I use frap with customers sometimes, but never frappe...god I hate that one. And we have had a strange influx of people wanting double and tripple fraps...
Oh @ Dry Sharpie, oh I see; I was confused about what is Frappe until I googled because we, in Canada, do not have it in McDonald yet , at least not yet. And I was eagerly waiting for someone to say that...lol
P.S. I am "Canadian".
