I used to love my job...but that's when I had realistic expectations put upon me. Having to work with so few partners on the floor with the expectation of the store to be clean and perfect all the time is not going to happen. The regional director in our region of Team Moxie is nothing but a consumer **** who only cares about her paycheck and has no clue on what it's like in a store anymore. Starbucks is going to lose a lot of great partners who actually like the company and I don't see it crawling out of this hole that the senior leadership dug itself into. The leadership conference was a huge waste of time and money, it was like a **** vacation for me. My DM is a total fake and is nothing but some used up **** from the restaurant biz....Starbucks can **** itself into oblivion for all I care.
If I wanted the BS i would work for McDonalds

You could get coffee at McDonald's now too so maybe the move is worth it ;P
But on a serious note, I know a lot of people are feeling the pain right now. Sigh.

@erasurefan1978: what state are you in? It sounds like my freaking store. NO partners on the floor and we are still expected to have everything out in under 3 minutes and have an immaculately clean store. Our expectations are ridiculous. I agree... Sbux is going to lose alot of great partners who USED to like the company.
Apparently at the leadership conference... my manager got to go out to the bars at night and party it up with the DM!!!

Talk about a conflict of interests!

anniversaryblend: my SM came back and said, "I'm never drinking again."
Good to know they were all really busy trying to figure out how to save our **** and all...

blacksheep... no kidding! It makes me mad to think about it. I heard thru the grapevine that some of the DM's even rode the mechanical bulls in the bars!! I guess TONS of our managers and DM's were seen drunk behaving this way.

anniversaryblend- I am dying thinking about my DM or SM riding a mechanical Bull! That is too hilarious.

I heard that my DM chose not to participate in the party activities. She is a weird person I must admit. She treats you like a child and micromanages EVERYTHING; which = lulz for me. I am on bar completely slammed while she does a store audit. She points and grabs an unmarked caramel bottle. "Whats this?" She asked. "Definitely mocha"

Our SM told us that a couple people were FIRED because they got "too drunk". Um, hello - they were in freaking NEW ORLEANS! I would've gotten **** drunk too for a free vaca!

People didn't get fired just because they were "too drunk".
One store manager got naked and hopped on a mechanical bull in one of the bars in the french quarter.
Another manager stripped down to nothing but an apron and took a leisurely stroll down Bourbon street.
I would say these are situations which warrant a dismissal.
Just because the alcohol is available doesn't mean it needs to be abused.Posted 4 years ago # -
And the SM's & DM's think WE'RE the problem?!? How **** lame are they?
I tried to visualize my SM attempting to mount a mechanical bull, but all I saw was the mechanical bull waving a little white flag of surrender!
One would think that the baristas and shifties, the BACKBONE OF STARBUCKS, would earn the right to a night of partying as a way of the company saying "thank you, you guys rock!" It's funny (in a sad way) how many customers think we love our jobs and that we're treated so well!Posted 4 years ago # -
I really am l.o.l. right now. I would love for some of that to be on you tube. I am a SS and agree that the shifts and baristas are the backbone of the buck and the way we're are taken advantage of is what will eventually ruin the buck into the ground and we will all be happy it happened. After an number of years...I care just enough to try and run a smooth shift by being real with my fellow vertebrae and trying to have fun. All the other **** is just that, and I am not going to waste time to care about anything more than being nice to those few and far between "real" respectful and nice customers and my fellow partners who are on the frontlines with me. No matter how ridiculous things are going I always try to keep "us" sane. So far I haven't felt like walking out lately. Which I guess is a good thing for my store. I am going to enjoy this Holiday season with a smile. Can't wait to be overly polite and fake to the obnoxoius customers (especially during full moons) and then talk **** about them 2 seconds later. Never forgetting that ever expanding DECAF LIST of course.

SS and baristas = backbone = truth
I was opening this morning (9:30 but we open at 10) with my assistant manager and:
a) I brewed all the first coffees, set up the espresso machines, condiment bars, syrups, displays, iced teas, and all this other stuff while she was taking her time with the pastry case which she took TWO hours to set up.
b) I was there by myself while she made herself a latte and went to the back to pick up pastries and count money or something. I handled the register and constant flow of morning customers and making all their drinks for a good 30 minutes.Even if it's only us two working for the first 2 hours of the morning, she does next to nothing. She's a very nice woman but COME ON, I'm slaving and stressing over the fact that I have to multitask and handle everything by myself!

Hey, I hated working on the floor ALONE too! I complained about it to my SM but what did he say? "You have to be able to multitask." And OMG you guys open at 10am?!?! My crap store opens at 5:30am.
I think i rather go for McDonalds too. Wtf with sbux taking 10% of your paycheck for.. well, i dunno where. My other job doesn't even take that much.

10% Please explain that..........

Our old morning SS did absolutely nothing, and then complained about everything not being done. She ordered everyone around while sitting on her fat **** and drinking a latte. And then she'd talk about Jesus.
What would Jesus drink?
LOL
