Is qasa really becoming a pain the ****? Apparently they are going around with flashlights inspecting EVERYTHING now. Since when in the he** did I become a janitor? What little faith they have in us to keep a store clean. I'd like to shove the flashlight up their **** for once. When I lived in Washington they were NEVER this persnickety about everything. I feel like leaving a note under the cabinets that says f.u, so they can read it when they are on the dirty floor with their hands and knees!
is it just me or ....

Yes. We just had a QASA visit and they sure did take a flashlight and look in cups, behind the fridges, under cabinets etc.

*sigh* unfortunately they need to do that at our store. There are a few partners that yell and complain about us not being up to "standard" but they are sometimes the worst offenders!!! I wish that they would just put the pride to keep the store clean on the dm, sm and the shifts. if they can't...replace them.

QASA has always been hard. You must have gotten soft. If you and your coworkers maintain a clean environment, it's only the deep-cleaning tasks that need to be done before Ecosure.

we had beetles in our store for a bit. they looked almost identical to cockroaches. it was so bad they wouldn't even have needed flashlights.
exterminator said they weren't cockroaches, but still. bugs.this is just ridiculous, though. no one ever died from dusty cabinets (or at least, it doesn't happen often enough to warrant this).

If the cabinets are clean then there's nothing to sweat about.

We did score a 92% Not terrible. But they were totally checking it ALL.

I think EcoSure is very thorough and their inspections SHOULD be as uptight as they are. Starbucks is a known brand around the world and their stores should be up to standards... at least in their minds. I know in my store EcoSure isn't really a problem given I have baristas deep clean at least every weekend and have them on point with cleanliness. I have OCD with this job.
I've been with the company for a couple of years and I can never stay still. I'm always doing something. It's quite annoying lol.

@lulu a 92 isn't bad. I believe we got a 92.9. I mean to score above a 90 means you're at least keeping up with most of the work plus deep cleaning.
It's just sometimes they might come during a rush and points would probably be taken off considering there's a rush going on and you can't attend to EVERYTHING, especially if you're short staffed... I STILL THINK there's no excuse for anything, contrary to my paradoxical thinking :)

In my area, it's gotten worse. We have a new inspector that is marking entire items off for things like thermometers whose batteries just expired that have functioning spare batteries where they are stored. I kid you not. Officially, we've been told that the company is supporting this.
Beware everyone! For ye shall be punished for any crumble, fingerprint, speck of dust, or drop of liquid found in your vicinity!
@#$%!

Every auditer I've seen is so out of shape. I always say to myself,"Who are you to judge us on cleanliness? Your tired a.s.s. probably can't clean a 1/4th of what we do on a daily basis."

the main issue I have is that sbux does not allow staffing to keep they store clean. The minute baristas step foot in the store it should be cleaned and kept clean. There should be no excuses! When I go into an In-n-out which has HUGE lines ALL the time it is always clean. If we walked into a restaurant we would expect it to be clean ALL THE TIME. "oh I forgive their overflowing trashes and messy bathrooms because I am sure they were busy." yeah right! We as customers would be ****. *rant* long story short: we need more labour!

They did away with the labor in 2008 in response to the recession. It hasn't been the same since and seems unlikely to change.

QASA is **** ridiculous and unreasonable. I've worked in high-end country club kitchens under chefs who were absolutely militant about cleanliness who were less anal retentive than these people are. It's absolutely absurd. You know what legal ramifications there are for failing QASA? **** ZERO, because it's an internal audit developed to keep people busy at work.

They just marked my store down for the fridges not being high enough off the floor. Unless we renovate, there's nothing we can do about it.

We just got QASA'd on my shift. We had a total of three partners working including myself. He came in on a Friday at 7:45am. We had a line out the door. One of our partners working was borrowed from a store and had been the SBux for less than a month. She got marked for not having her food handlers card (required in CA). We are fighting that now because you're supposed to allow them 90 days to get it. And one of our caraffes was at 42 degrees (41 max allowed). Ugh. I just ran around like an idiot trying to ensure we got no criticals and then working on minor things. It's amazing we even got an 87.9% with how we were set up. Customers were **** off because I had to work on the store and not them so we had two people for a line 16-18 people deep.

Vaneera-rattay: In NYC with two baristas one shift supervisor, it's expected to handle the floor solo, while another barista does an immediate slide and the shift holds hands with the Ecosure rep.
Ecosure will start monitoring the store long before they announce themselves. It's up to you to inform your shift supervisor if you spot them inside your lobby, and then draw straws on cleaning tasks.
The first thing I would hit up is the condiment bar: bring a dry rag to wipe stains/sugar/milk off the counter, and leave ONLY ONE carafe at the bar. There's no rule stating they need to check more than one, or that we need to leave out more.
Your next target is the restroom. Either convince someone to lock themselves in there all hour, or clean it thoroughly.
There are a number of simple backline deepcleaning tasks that need to be checked but these are usually basic preventative tips e.g. no stains or puddles in the fridges, counters clean and dry, etc. If you clean up after making each drink, these are a non-issue.
Disclosure: I have not been on the clock working during an Ecosure QASA audit.

"They did away with the labor in 2008 in response to the recession. It hasn't been the same since and seems unlikely to change."
This right here is what makes my life a fxcking he1l. How can my SM expect us to complete the duty roster tasks 100% daily while simultaneously cutting labor? It's madness. She literally told the shift team two weeks ago that she was scheduling us extra coverage for deep cleaning, then flipped out on us for not cutting labor. Seriously??
