Because I enjoy a protein shake, I dont dislike that Starbucks offers them..but, I understand why everyone else does - they are annoying to make! - but its part of the job I suppose.. anyway, I just dont agree with the whole new and improved way of making them...It is cutting back on the protein/fiber, and isnt that what the basis of the drink is to begin with? anyway, protein expands why it is blended too long - it should be pulsed in after the rest of the mix is blended.

bellaragazza- the vivannos are not only hard to make, but they taste bland and arent even all that nutritious. If I were going to get a protein shake I would much rather go to Smoothie King or Jamba Juice for a more nutritious shake. I think it's kind of a ploy to make it seem like they are trying to be more health conscious, but cutting corners so they dont have to pay the extra $ to actually make it worth your while.
I'm glad we sell fresh fruits and oatmeal now though, I will say that. That is my breakfast every morning :-)

Well they arent void of nutrition either. It is far better to have protein, whole banana, milk - yes milk (calcium, vitamin D, protein, all out-weight the fat concerns since it is only about what 8oz?), the mocha sauce on the other hand..A vivanno is sure better than just coffee for breakfast. Carbs are not the enemy and should be consumed with some sort of protein source. It is the type of carb and its gylcemic index....one is better off eating a sweet potato as a carb rather than bagel.

bellaragazza: Thanks for making the point about carbs not being the problem, necessarily. There's a world of difference between COMPLEX carbs and simple carbs. I know this because I'm a Type 2 diabetic and I'm always getting **** from people who screech at me, "YOU can't have any sugar! You're a diabetic!". Sugar is a carb. It's a simple carb and doesn't do a whole lot of good things in any one's body, but especially in someone with diabetes. I know the Vivannos are hella better than those dreadful crappaccinos. Bananas are a great energy source (not for most diabetics, however) and the protein powder isn't half bad.
That mocha sauce... bleccch! I had to make several containers of it yesterday at work and I was appalled at how sickeninly sweet it was--just tasted a little that dripped onto the counter. Nasty, nasty stuff.
