Okay, so we got a new SM at the beginning of this year. We all strongly dislike her, she has zero work ethic, won't help out at all, works maybe 30 hours a week at most, and cannot wrap her mind around such things as scheduling and IMS (thank god I do our store order or we'd be really effed, lol). So this is all old news, but now since she's so crappy we have people transferring like crazy. One guy transferred closer to home at the beginning of summer and luckily she found a rehire to replace him, so at least it wasn't a whole new training and such.
But now we've got another girl transferring and one being promoted, so we're going to have 2 new hires in the next week or so. One of them starts tomorrow and so on my opening shift I have to a) train this new hire and b) train our new SS. this would not be an issue except that no additional coverage was scheduled. the new SS is my typical opening barista so I'm supposed to train her AND do barista things?? wtf... like, she's supposed to learn how to count tills and the safe and do all the shift stuff but also get the pastry case done, etc before open... okay...
and then this other girl, I'm hoping she's just scheduled for an all-reading day, because again, there's no additional coverage to train a newbie. just our typical Wednesday coverage. and my SM doesn't work Wednesdays, which means she doesn't actually care if it's a sht show... because she doesn't have to deal with it. I just feel bad for anyone getting trained under her too, because of the lack of proper training they are receiving. She can't be bothered to take the time to schedule it properly or god forbid do some of it herself, so because of that the rest of us are stressing ourselves out, running around like crazy people to try to make training happen while not royally p***ing off all the customers because we don't have good coverage! Grrr I want to transfer too and if my availability were better I think I would have put in for one already actually... working with this SM makes me hate my job SO. MUCH. MORE. but I'm stuck unless we want to pay for childcare, which we just don't have the money to do.
it just gets more annoying...

Anon tip to your DM? Lol. Idk, never had a problem like that, my SM is awesome when it comes to trainees, they work nothing but her exact shifts until they certify.

I feel you. The way my SM runs the store makes me want to transfer. The morale of my store has decreased in the past month or so.
In terms of the training, I also understand you. That's how my SM usually schedules new hires too. I remember when I had to train three baristas back-to-back while I was getting promoted. That **** was sooo stressful. This job has made me question my place with this company. They just ask for TOO DAMN MUCH. A company with this much pride about FU(K!NG coffee =_______=

my SM ABSOLUTELY makes me want to transfer. She's a terrible manager. She is nice and means well but at the end of the day she sucks. She doesn't have her partners backs, one of the shifts picks up the majority of her slack, and she's had a lot of people quit since she became manager. She also doesn't have the balls to "coach" the partners that need it. If Ecosure comes and she fails she will get fired...so i kind of hope she fails...
