I work at a Target Starbucks & our tiny department is apparently getting an oven in September. We'll be serving the sandwiches, yet not getting any more employees OR hours. I'm actually really concerned to how this is going to work, since we have morning rushes (we're located in a busy area where all of the rich people come after dropping their kids off at school) & only 2 people work in the morning (1 when the other is on their 15 minute break or their 45 minute lunch). Our freezer is also packed with boxes of our 7 pastries & the petites, plus Food Ave's frozen goodies. Dear corporate Starbucks baristas, how much should I be dreading september?

A LOT. Well, I don't think you guys get hit harder with the promos than we do.

@smoovejayy our "treat receipt" is called "bounce back" and is the same thing, except they can bring the receipt back within 14 days. i think we have it worse for this promo. lol

@smoovejayy erroneous, dear. I believe we actually have it worse. Also, my co-workers and I always find out about our new promos on the same day they begin. **** management...
Anyway. I've already decided to tell our customers that our oven doesn't work as soon as they even GLANCE at the sandwiches. Less effort.

The oven and sandwiches are easy. Oven has all the settings, just push a button. put the sandwich in press button, ring next customer or two, timer goes off for the oven, get sandwich and give out. Go back to register. It really isn't that bad. If your customers have to wait, then they have to wait. I don't think target really gets the lines of customers, like the other stores.

@starbucksmaiden my store is surprisingly busy in the morning so that's why i was worried, but thank you. i hope the sandwiches are not as much of a pain in the **** as they seem lol.

The thing that will really suck about having the sandwiches is when you're working alone and you're ringing, barring, and also trying to get sandwiches in and out. The reason I left Target is because they leave you alone to do everything yourself. Hopefully, you'll mostly just have people buying the sandwiches in the morning when there's probably two of you working.

Yeah, we just got an oven at our Tarbucks. It blows. I've been shutting it down early and telling people that we stop selling them at 6 pm just so I can get out of there on time at night.

Oven? My Tarbucks still only has 1 blender...

i worry about closing by myself and still having to clean that oven on top of everything else we have to do alone. and knowing tarbucks they will not let us shut down early.

@YouAffogatoBeKiddingMe - That isn't enough? Is Tarbucks super busy with more than one person on cold bar? I've just only have really seen the need for two blenders in DT/mall stores.
Do it anyway!
If it isn't busy, you can get everything done except marking out food (in order to prevent waste), rinsing the last urn, and counting the tills. Wash everything else that you've been using, like that last blender or last pitcher, right at the every end before you close. Read the sticky about preclosing. Just make sure everything is rinsed/wiped down before you leave.
If it's busy, ****. You're screwed. I'm sorry.

What usually seems to be the problem is that the clientele who shop at target are not really looking for quality coffee. Its more like...Can i get a frappe thing? Ya know like a coolatta. But they order 3 at a time so it just becomes time consuming.

The first chance you get, grab one of your customers' babies and throw them into the oven. Breads > Multigrain > Quantity 5 it.
