just ask questions if you don't know something, you may feel like you're being annoying but it's worse to do things wrong/forget them because you're afraid to ask- the other shifts/SM hopefully are nice, understanding people who will appreciate you truly trying to learn to do your job the best you can. I asked a lot of questions when I first started because I had completely crap training... like, I read some books, did the deposit with another shift once, and then transferred stores and started as a shift, so they did things differently there anyway just because it was a different store, plus I had never been a shift- the first few weeks were really stressful, so also don't let it get you down, I went home and cried a few times and told my husband I was going to step back down and thankfully he convinced me that I should stick it out, because it got way better and now it's all old hat and I'm training other baristas to become shifts...

ya, im actually staying at my store, i understand most people transfer for reasons that are easily seen however i really dont have to worry about that too much. my SM is pretty helpful, i went over adhocs and the order i guess im just a little nervous, dont care too much for her however working as a shift i supposed i wont have to work with her as often so im going to stick it through thanks

No dont do it! If only I had known what I was getting myself into, we pretty much run the store for an extra $.50 cents an hour. F that man i wanna go back to not worrying about anything...

Don't be afraid to ask questions!
It sounds like you've gotten more training then I did before I got the bump up. My manager was losing a shift for holiday and I got promoted, shown how to do the money, then left to run the floor on Black Friday as my first day, lol. (In a mall kiosk <3)
The most important thing you do is money. Money, safety (of your partners and customers) and everything else comes after. As long as you've got that under control, it's pretty much smooth sailing. You'll do fine :)

$.5? my raise is a dollar and i have my one year review next week which is another .35 so $11 an hour is great for a full time student playing his own way lol.
ya today the effing safe wouldnt unlock completely so i couldnt close it and looked like a **** a few times but ya i took my time and asked questions, made sure i did everything right and now i remember it by heart after one day, im ready to go alone already, so much happened today like the person last night effed me over and coworkers acting up, just glad its over lol

... I've been with the company half a goddamned decade and I don't even make above 11. The **** is this ****.

I'm assuming the $11/hr includes tips?

your shift raise is to a set starting wage for shifts, it doesn't stack with your barista review raise, at least, that's how it is in my area.

I also learned the other day that, apparently, the flat bonus of clearing those first six months is no longer given out and it's just the pathetic merit increase. I'm not sure wtf is going on with that, but if it's actually true then ..then jesus christ do I feel even worse for my more recent hires. To be honest, maybe I just imagined there's one- I know I got one when I cleared six months, but I was also magically being paid under minimum wage due to state laws changing. It put me a whole magical five cents above minimum, too, post my first six months.
Imagine my chagrin!

ya my starting wage a year ago was $9.15.min.wage is $8 here so idk if its because of that or because of the rich area i work in. im hoping to get my .35 raise THEN get promoted but im sure my SM is aware of that and wont allow it lol

The most an SS can be paid in my area is $13/hr. once I get my review I'll be at my pay ceiling. Sucks.
