Ok, a new day has dawned on IHateStarbucks.com.
I no longer want to keep hacking the old, tired php on the site, so this is what I propose. These messages will remain up for all eternity. In addition, there is a new Guest book. So if you want to share your opinons, i.e. post to the site, go here. As always, if wish to rant or rave, send me an email:

| Today since the T (subway if you aren't from Boston) was running on an abnormal schedule. The Sunday schedule but the store still had to open as if it was a Monday. There was no way I could make my way to my store on time. Therefore, I did the logical thing and took a taxi in. Will I be reimbursed for my taxi, most likely not? Oh well. I guess its better than being written up. After all, isn't that why Starbucks pays me, so that my first two hours can go towards paying for a taxi to arrive to work on time? It just gets me angry because my stupid manager doesn't seem to understand this reality, that most of his partners take the T to work and therefore can arrive ahead of time. GRRRRRRRRR! |

| macchiato is Italian for marked, meaning foam marked by foam. You are right an espresso macchiato is espresso marked foam but the grande caramel macchiato is meant to mean marked by carmel, and is really nothing more than a vanilla latte marked with caramel, don't get me wrong i hate Starbucks, but do love Italian desserts and coffee. The new additions of drinks like chantico and the affagatto style frappuccino are just Italian tradition meets American coffee chain. Starbucks copy's what works in Europe. |

| The new Mint Mocha Chip Frappucinno is not a 'double chocolate chip frappucinno with peppermint added.'<-To whoever posted that message. If you're going to get so ridiculously worked up about a drink, I suggest you actually know what you are talking about. True, the chocolate chips are used in this drink, but a new mint chocolate syrup was created specifically for this new drink. There is a difference between 'peppermint' and regular 'mint.' Absolutely LOVE this site, it's a hoot! Some things are very true; I work at SBUX b/c I can choose how many hours I want a week, and if something comes up-I can call not only employees at my store but at any starbucks to cover my shift. I can also request any days off I want to by just jotting it down on a calender, even up to a week before, no questions asked. SO, if anyone wants an extremely flexible part-time job, sbux is the job. However, I agree with many of you on the many horrible things about it! But, if I allow myself to get worked up I get WAY too carried away! Have a great memorial day everyone! |

| I STRONGLY suggest people go to the nutrition section of the starbucks website. After watching "Supersize Me", nutritional content seems SO MUCH MORE IMPORTANT to me. Its pretty disturbing exactly how bad almost all this stuff is for you. Starbucks is truely the new McDonalds...scary scary scary. |

| I hate S'bucks too. I especially hate the way they've turned coffee drinks like a machiatto, which is traditionally an espresso shot with a shot of steamed milk and a dallop of foam, into a drink that you are encouraged to order as a grande. It's insanity. |

| Well done to the owner of this site. For the last few months it is #3 or #4 listing on google.com when you search for: Starbucks
I notice Starbucks UK site slips in and out of 3rd place each week! Everyone here, run that google seach each week and click on this site. It will keep this site in good ranking. |

| I work for SBUX...I recognize the good and definitely the bad in the company...but as much as ppl may hate the baristas, believe me when I say, we hate you (the sh*tbag customers, you know who you are) way more (yes, very very bitter)....Jane said it best really....Pls don't f*cking tip us then complain, I really don't want your God damn money anyway, all I did was f*cking pour coffee or grab your food for you, it's not like I got down on my knees and serviced you sexually....if the coffee is bitter, burnt, etc...tooooo bad! You should have done your research before you made your $2 investment, you cheap bastard....Do not comment on how expensive things are. I swear you walked through those doors knowing you were entering a Starbucks .... unless you lived under a rock or in a tree for the last 15 years, you should know this!! Do not tell us how to make the drink, really!! I will purposely f*ck it up.... we are not Second Cup, Tim Hortons, or any other coffee places, DON'T COME IN ASKING FOR THEIR DRINKS AND THEN YELL AT US WHEN IT IS NOT THE SAME...IT IS NOT THE SAME YOU MORON!!!!! Oh yeah, and when we say we don't heat things up, it means WE DON'T HEAT THINGS UP...please save the disgusted face for someone who cares, cuz I don't. (Side note: Frap lite tastes like ass) Finally, moronic customers do not know how much they can abuse the JUST SAY YES policy. As degrading as it is, we are your b*tches, we have to do whatever you say....so if you want extra, more, etc of whatever, GET IT!!!....it's not coming out of my pockets, why the hell should I care? I abuse it religiously...when I want a cup of lemonade (something I have to pay for), I just ask for a blended strawberry lemonade, minus the strawberry, filled to the top with lemonade, and not blended...they have to comply! (Remember to JUST SAY YES ;)) And because a blended strawberry lemonade is a partner bev...it's totally free! You CAN beat the system peeps.
And by the way, if you come in, be nice, and treat me with respect, I will definitely reciprocate...it's not that complicated. We are all human beings! |

| I am not a fan of Starbucks. If I am desperate for some caffiene I might stop for a small latte, but I have to have an extra shot of espresso added so I can taste more than the scorched milk. I don\'t know about everyone else, but my issues with Starbucks are related to the lack of quality in their product and how little the Barista\'s know about their craft. I like to ask the person making my latte about what they are doing and why. I almost always get blank stares or they will say, \"this is how I was told to make it.\"
I\'m sorry, but if you pull shots of espresso all day, I would expect you to know more about the hows and whys of espresso making than the average non-professional.
There is my two cents, if I had more time, I could add the other seven dollars. Maybe later, after I make myself an Espresso

| I lived in San Francisco from 1998 to 2002 and watched them do exactly what you mention (predatory real estate practices - they bought out the smaller Pasquas for one, which had really lovely fresh salads)... eventually downtown, for example, there were Starf*cks on every bloody corner. In Potrero they took over Circadia (an actual restaurant) like the Borg they are. Of course they make huge profits, there's no bleamin' competition. They only serve to exploit humankind, while they standardise the landscape. Anyone who defends them is a moron. And the coffee is crap! |

| Starbucks coffee in asia is just another typical American company exploiting the asian workers and trying to globalise the world the american ways. Barista are paid USD 1 per hours while they are selling bout USD 2.50 for 1 cup of tall latte . So this is what they call themselves a people oriented and a company that practices coorperate social responsibility. |

| I hate Starbucks because if is an anti-art, anti-freedom establisment. That wipes clean from the World traditional coffee houses. Traditional coffee houses were places of discussion, art, poetry, opinions. Now the Starbucks with it's sterile environment. It's arrogant elitist employees have taken away the traditional coffee house. Here wee see the ongoing culture of anti-art, anti-intellegence. One mearly must look as though they are "intellectuals". Forever participating in this pretentious scene that has so taken over this Land. It is just another sign that America's end is near. |

| Ya know, I am not a real Starbucks fan either... I think the coffee tastes burnt. A true great cup of Coffee should not need anything. Just have it 'neat'. (Black for those not in the know) Having to bury your coffee with flavors and such shows a lack of quality in the base product.
Most people who go to Starbucks don’t like the coffee either, that’s why the have chocolate in them, cream, sugars, flavorings, soy, fly droppings (Oreo crumbles), and all sorts of other things. They are there for the mix, the fancy stuff; to be part of a cultural experience, to roll off the tongue “a no whip, decaf, latte, extra hot with a shot of caramel” with a straight face shows a level of communication skill that Shakespeare would be proud of.
I don't hate Starbucks; I just know I have a choice. It is like beer. Many people like Bud and Corona, and they are not good beers, Corona culture says add lime to make it good, many people like Starbucks, Starbucks culture says add flavoring and whip and caramel and chocolate and foam to make our coffee taste good…Ya want a good beer, get a stout. The best coffee I ever had was in a Coffee shop in Columbus Ohio, on the menu they had posted ‘Octal’(sp?) It was an eight shot espresso! And it was smooth.
What Starbucks offers is a social gathering location without all the beer and drunks.
Great sight, lots of fun! Nice to see content and not Flash!

| I was a store manager until recently. Today, I received a letter about a lawsuit pending against Starbucks by former managers in Houston. As a former manager, I was notified and asked to join the lawsuit (the lawsuit is about overtime not being paid). Has any other present/former manager received this letter? |

| Okay, so I have to agree with all that you said. I hate Starbucks, too. Thier coffee is often bitter, they pretend to care about the environment and I don\'t think they really do. They are everywhere! I can\'t stand the sight of another Starbucks on every street corner, but do you want to know the worst part? I work for the company. Yes, I hate the company, always have, probably always will, but it\'s true, I work there. So I have a little simple defence to make, hopefully it won\'t get me pulled off right away! I get benefits, and no, they don\'t stop you at just below 20 hours so you can\'t get them. Everyone in my district works WAY more than enough to get benefits. And we DO pay our coffee growers 74% more than ANY other coffee grower. Even all those coffee shops that you have listed as alternative places to go don\'t pay as much as Starbucks. Yes, the coffee I serve is bitter. Though isn\'t that the stupid customers fault? I mean they like it so we keep brewing it, but gross! And nothing pisses me off more than the fact that everyone besides a selct few who works there is a snob! I also hate that we only have two sugar-free flavors, and only 13 flavors total. We don\'t have Italian Sodas and we can\'t even make Frappuccinos fat-free. Nothing is of the norm with this company. They think they are trying to set the bar higher, but in all reality, you\'re just pissing peaple off, customers and partners alike. Thanks! |

| I hate Starbucks for many reasons, most of which have already been stated here so I wont' bother to go into them, but one reason really stands out in my mind.
My best friend works at Starbucks as a barrista. She barely makes enough money to survive and they refuse to give her over 20 hours, sometimes not even that much so she is always in a constant state of stress and financial strain, yet she always works very hard and fills in for people who call in sick. One very busy, understaffed day she was working her ass off making frappe crapolattes for ungrateful yuppies when her shift finally ends. Just as she's about to go home someone calls in sick so they ask her to stay overtime....for free. Then they guilt her by saying 'This is how things work around here, we're a family and we cover for each other when times get rough. How is this possible? This multi million dollar corporation pressuring my dear friend to work overtime in some shit minimum wage job for FREE when they can easily pay her the extra 2 cents they would have paid her anyways and then brushing it off as some sort of 'family responsibility'
It makes me so mad just thinking about it and if I were her I would have shoved that Little Green Apron book in their face and walked out!
it's just too cultish... |

| Thanks Jane! Loved your list of your "favorite" customers!! Here's a couple more, the I am going to stand there for 5 min deciding what I want and then select the same drink I always get person! The I want the freshest coffee person , the person who gives the coffee back and says they can tell it's not fresh also same for the latte people who can tell the milk is steamed twice and of course the frap person who takes a sip and claims it's not double blended!!! |

| Just me at starbucks...forget it. What you see happening in your district is happening in every district and store. Howard had a great vision and created it, then decided to move on and sell his vision to a corporation for big bucks (shich is disguised as a Board of Directors). The mission statement is only words now, the bottom line is all that is looked at from you Manager to district manager to regional manager to...see the picture? It sucks especially if you were around for the good days at Starbucks which have been gone for a few years now. All people care about is keeping their job. Want to make a difference, contact organizations that relate to your ongoing issues outside of the company. Here's a good example...I knew a Starbucks that had a real sewage problem. The store manager and assistant manager contacted several people but nothing happened. Now I'm talking sewage was coming up out of the drains in the backroom floor. It wasn't until the local Health Department was notified that anything was done about it and this went on for days. Not to mention that tey never cleaned up the storre properly after it all either. Sad, isn't it |

| *bucks earns the Seal of Poor Quality for each and every drink they make. I've had first hand experience with baristas that get frustrated and throw the frothing pitcher into the sink, splattering milk everywhere; baristas that refroth milk by filling up the pitcher just enough to get your drink out of it; baristas that pull coffee before the expresso is finished drawing, or before the large drip coffee is done dripping--both of which gives the consumer inferior taste due to incomplete extraction; baristas that put all the custom drink ingredients in the wrong order--bitter outcome; and finally baristas that slop together your drink and hand it over dripping all over the cup. This lack of quality, disrespect of the consumer and bad tasting drinks time after time do not deserve my hard earned pennies, nor my support of their conglomerate egotistical business. My Motto: "Support the small business owner and get your cup'o joe from someone who cares = Anyone but *bucks." |
