Oh yeah those stupid MUG Awards really get me angry. I most get like one a month or something. They are just really pointless little pieces of metal. Usually, I take the MUG award home with me and put it in my dresser drawer. It goes right next to my socks, t-shirts, and underwear. I keep it nicely tucked away so when that day comes, and it will come, when I leave Starbucks, I can return them all to my store manager, complete, with the little message of gratitude. Oh but they better be careful because I might accidently put decaf in both bean hoppers!!! HAHAHAHAHAHA! HAHAHAHAHAHA!

I'll admit it to you, Roma, that I do play the regulars game. The regulars always get their coffe first and best. Not to say that everyone elses coffee is gross, but for the regulars I go the extra mile by steaming fresh milk. Getting their drink ready as they step inside the store. Sometimes I give a smile and say "It's already getting ready." Now, to counter that I only treat regulars special, I would like to say that for you to become a regular is easy. Show up on a regular basis, smile, have something unique or memorable, whether its an accent or drink. Regular can be daily or even weekly! Regular customers are treated special because of their special patronage of Starbucks.

Hello Boston Starbucks Rebel: I love you! You are so great in your ways to "take down the man" while maintaining a cool, calm posterior. Kudos to you for making my days at work something to look forward to! Mug Award!

Lately I am just wow-ed at the degree of company games I see go at the coffeehouse("?")/Starbuck$ I work at - It's like a buch of frantic little rats scurrying around to make it big in the "coffee world". Butt kissing, back stabbing, favoritism, double standards, managers turning "blind eyes", over-looking of other as compotent employees, etc... All for a "piece of Green AS*" and the promise of you someday climbing to the top and being another King Starbuck$ Rat. (store manager, etc.) Most are willing to sell their soul and "give away their mother's last drop of blood" for this chance. It's rather disgusting to witness daily. On a scale of 1-10, how wouold you rate your stores dirty side?...

Y'know I came online with the intention of applying for Starbucks when I came across this site and changed my mind. My experience as a customer with Starbucks is Japan-based: while living there for three years I found they were the only chain/place to serve half-decent coffee, which is saying something (no one goes to Japan for the coffee!) even though the lattes often made me feel ill. There aren't many Starbucks here in Australia, independent artsy cafes are still hugely popular and if Starbucks staff are required to 'chat-up' customers I've never seen it, here or in Japan - sounds bl**dy rude. Their coffee is terrible but the real reason I don't like them is for their virus-like spread, creeping over the globe in the wake of McDonalds and Coke at the expense of developing nations and small business. America is taking over Australia and we're all pretty p***ed off about it, so I try to support Australian companies.

Starbucks is one of the most disgusting heartless corporations existing on this planet. Besides the fact that its everything but a "coffeeshop" it is the worst kind of globalised uniformized bullshit places with mediocre at best products for irrealistically high price which doesnt get to anybody but to the head of the corporation and maybe the shareholders. But I dont blame them the most. I blame the stooopid sheepthinking assholes that visit those cafebordellos. What do they really think when they enter this hellhole to drink bullshit fancynamed coffees helping billionaiers to be trillionaiers instead of supporting the small guy down the corner who just wants to make a decent living for the family and makes a deadly cappuccino with a real smile..It might be strange for you but if I hear if any of my friends EVER go there I tell them that they are stupid fudgeheads.

Now this is freakin rediculous. The city I live in has NINETEEN starbucks (20 if you count the one in one of the suburbs). McDonalds, my friends, only has seventeen resturants in the city. And Globally? McDonalds=6739. Starbucks=8818. Plus, didn't anybody see Shrek 2? With that coffee-drinking cookie? Starbucks is reaching for the minds of our innocent CHILDREN!!!!!

I came along this site looking for anti starbucks pictures. Why? because i just started working there as of 2 days ago, and already i have recived this large book of all the things you can and cannot do. I am also trying to become a psychologist, as i have already taken social psychology... it made me a little more aware of the companies underlying insanity towards marketing, and bascially brainwashing "partners" and customers. there is one part in this book that tells you how to bascially get a cutomer stuck in conversation by learning how to ask questions you cannot reply with a yes or no. the only question i have is why? why all this attention to "legendary service". its rediculous! I love coffee and i love coffee shops and i've never come in contact with such crazy methods of working! Its all fake coffee not to mention, powerders, pre packaged GARBAGE! its just sad and i cant take it after 2 figgin days! not to mention i have tattoos that i love and am very proud of and spend good money and time on and regardless the emphasis they put on diversity i have to cover them up, even though they are in no way offencive, one is dedicated to my father for goodness sake! bascially divercity to them is skincolor i guess. i am convinced seeing as there are many locations in 3rd world countries they are trying to take over the world. whats the point of having a starbucks in saudie arabia when people can barely aford to live let alone buy a figgin carml whatever the hell!

I have been at Starbucks for about a 1 1/2 years and I can honestly say after working for this evil corporation I want to have nothing to do with this company. I am getting ready to graduate from College and going onto Grad School in the next month, I can't wait to be done working for Starbucks. Before I worked for Starbucks I was a dedicated customer but now I would rather go to a independent coffee shop than pay the white man that sits on top my money. The other people that work with me are so freaking brainwashed from working with this company that they can't accept the fact that I am only working for the money, I could care less about the success of the company, who cares if it eventually goes down the toilet, I don't. I just want my tips, free coffee, and pay checks. Oh yeah, I love screwing with customers drinks and they never know about it. I only have 3 days left at the evil empire. I don't have to take the crap that the company dishes at it's employees for the crappy wages that they pay us. To the CEO at Starbucks, I refuse to be your slave!!!!!!!!!!! You can start serving me my coffee!!!!!!!!!

To Older Barista: Please except my apology if I offended you in anyway. It's not that think of you as flunkies, It was used more as a form of speech. You have to agree though, that there are many people who hold your same position where that term does apply, but I meant no harm, honestly. Since you remark requested a response, I will use this make one more point I left out. If I take a half hour per day everyday to get coffee, I will have spent 7.6 days per year coming, standing in line and going with just a half hour per day. And all of that for a less than superior drink. There is no place like home.

Oh yeah. I just thought of this GREAT plan to spread anarchy. Imagine if all the baristas one gave decaf to all the customers! Wouldn't that be hilarious. They would all be falling asleep at their desks and everything. I wonder what economic impact would have. I think I might try it one day. Only to the mean customers. My favorites would get real caffine.

My suggestion as a Barista and feeling for some poorly served customers is maybe to complain to them. Personally as a Barista if someone has a problem I prefer if it is brought back to the store and avoid a step such as this rather than complaining. Also I make the suggestion of our Espresso machines which are 1/2 the price and twice the quality of the one your purchased.

Hi Boston Starbucks Rebel, I believe that I am a favorite customer of one really awesome Starbucks employee because she always gives me free drinks if she's at the register when I walk in and this has been going on for many years. I like all the employees at my fave Starbucks.

Wow right on...finally, someone agrees with me that Starbucks quality is poor. Give me a small cup with 3oz of steaming hot espresso from my own French press and I'm a happy guy. I had to laugh at this kid working behind the counter the last time we were in an SB. I brought my own coffee from home and just went there for the fireplace and the free Sunday paper. I just smiled and put a dollar into his tip jar; kid's gotta earn a living too, ya know?

Ever since "Super Size Me," you have have to wonder what Starbuck's uses in their drinks to keep revenues high and expenses down. If they treat employees poorly, what's in the drinks to hook you to coming back again and again. Somebody should do a documentary on Starbuck's and exploit their practices. On a side note, my wife and I just did our own exercise. We bought an espresso machine (Saeco Vienna de Luxe) about a year ago along with a blender, plastic cups, straws and all the ingredients we would need to make our drinks on a daily basis. The machine at that time was $500 and all the start up stuff was around $100 give or take. I figured each drink costs me under a dollar, but let's call it a dollar which includes cup, straw and all the makings. If we went to a coffee shop and each spent $4 on a drink per day, that comes to $2,920 per year plus the time spent going there, standing in line and leaving. If I minus out the machine and cost of goods, I have saved almost $1,700 per year, countless hours coming and going and my drinks are superior to what any flunky would make. The beauty of it is that if I make a bad drink, I can always redo it. Additionally, our friends love it and it saves them money too. Extra shot? No problem. BTW, the Saeco espresso machine and "The Magic Bullet" make a great combo. I use all fresh espresso and the best ingredients, it's hard going out of town when no one comes close to what I have.

Dr. P: your WalMArt anaology is "right on the $$$$" so to speak. There are so many similarities between these 2 companies. Starting with the dumbing down of coffee. What true coffeehouse survives on any concoction like the fraps........Ugh. Sugary and fattening, and no real coffee. Those ground coffee packs you add to water are disgusting. SB treats their employees the same way. Although both companies give their employees benefits, since you are making such a low wage, and you "yourself" have to pay for those benefits out of your meager wages (no, they do not pay your benefits as a barista or shift)! Both companies have strange ideas about the qualities you must have to move up in the company. SB will dangle all sorts of carrots in front of you, beware, they are treating you like an ASS to be sure. Ever wonder why you rarely see baristas for too long??? Look around at who's in charge of your store. Might make you think twice, wish I did before it was too late! It's obvious SB use's a low quality bean, except in their black apron coffee's. And even then, the size of the bean is a good indication of quality of flavor. The smaller the bean, the nastier it will taste. The larger the bean, a better quality of flavor and will taste smooth with no aftertaste.........Could keep the rant up, but will only say I'm glad to see so many good response's to the Wal MArt of Coffee's: SB........

HEY FEEDBACK WELCOMED, I have been at Starbucks for almost 1 year. We have been through 3 managers. The first could not get along with the DM, but she did start as a barista, so hse knew her stuff. The 2nd, was an interim and she also started as a barista, how she made manager i have no idea, because she is very immature and needs alot of composure help. The 3rd(how long will she last?) has a tetail vbackground and knows zip about the food and beverageindustry, which happens to be the majority of our sales, not retail like the original game plan at Starbucks in Seattle. Coming from a strong food background, I find this ludicrous. I truly think that no one should be promoted from outside to do this job. It is too specifically, intense with all that you have to know. To win the trust and respect of your fellow partners, a manager has to be able to do all the floor work and do it better and faster than anyone else. That is just the way it is in this kind of business.

Dear Viking, I appreciate your service to this country. I am glad that you serve the high ideals that this country was founded upon. Ones that respect the individual independence while still working towards common goals necessary for the security of our prosperity. Starbucks instead wishes to spread its global empire to all parts of the world in its demonic attempt to cause conformity and uniformity throughout the world. Thank you again!
