| i used to work for starbucks until I got fired for a load of crap I came in one morning to go to work and the managerbrought me over to the side and said I am going to ahve to terminate you and I said why she said because we have come to the conclusion that you are stealing money which I wasn't and as I walked out I said well have fun trying to run your store because I do all and I mean all the work around her since all you do is flirt with the customer swhich by the way she looks like a f*cking horse majorly. Which later I found out it was her stealing the money she just needed someone to pin it on so I ask you does starbucks not think to hire good mangers to run the store correctly because there should not be external hiring it should be internal so that people that work there @ss off get to become one and get the big bucks so that some dumb ass off the street does not get it before the people that worked hard for company before. Starbucks needs to learn to open there dam eyes and see how hard we work for them or how hard I used to work for them. |

| i work at starbucks and ild like to make a few points which i think are relevant,
first of all starbucks heavily clouds the concept of individuality and of personal expression be it from a creative or personal point of view by trying to install its own buisness related perspective on how a coffee should be run from an efficient point of view,
starbucks conforms to taking an exisiting method of the coffee shop which im sure in its original intention was to supply a good coffee a place to relax and enjoy other peoples company with some good food as well, coffee goes back to traditions of bringing people together in ceromonies and still does in some cultures
sadly though starbucks is a place of getting your coffee as soon as possible and manufacturing people for profit as society is largely based on this and starbucks reflects it,taking away the uniqueness of everybodys differences and harming people in the name of competition,a buisness focused on plastic rather than people
that my friends is the truth |

| ...i hate Starbutts ! their coffee isn't good at all. sure the
stores are trendy and stuff, but i don't drink trends. here
in Austin Texas, we have places like Mojos, The daily
grind, Jo's Coffee, and Ruta Maya to go to. GOOD coffee
to savor. I also notice that people to seem to enjoy them
are "name brand" folks. just and observation. but i have
given them many chances...i've tried their coffee from
Texas to California....it's bad, bitter coffe. sorry. it sucks! |

| I went to Starbucks for the first time the other day. As I stood there trying to decide what I wanted, with nobody in line behind me, the cashier was trying to rush me. I told her to give me a second, there were too many choices. She rolled her eyes at me and said "Well, can I assume you want something hot?" I said yes. She then asked "Do you like chocolate, vanilla, blah blah blah", as if I were buying a shirt for my girlfriend and couldn't decide for myself what kind of coffee I wanted. Finally I told her to just give me a tall mocha. I didn't even look at the price. It turned out to be 3 dollars! I looked at the cup and said "I expected it to be taller." She just stared vacantly at me and popped her gum. I should have gone to 7/11, it probably would have been 79 cents and tasted just the same. |

| It is quite by accident that I stumbled upon your website, and yes, I am a Starbucks employee. I congratulate you for your distinct opinions and drive to voice them. I won't ramble on about our utopian coffee society, but will say this site cracks me up. The posts remind me of a street fight between two poodles with lacy boxing gloves.... Or maybe a tongue lashing between the Latin Kings and the Pink Ladies. Kudos to you. |

| I worked for Starbucks for 4 1/2 years but left in December 2004. This used to be a good company that cared about its employees and customers and putting out a good product. Things have changed a lot since I first started. I worked in downtown Seattle. Starbucks hometown. Howard Shultz came into our store on a regular basis. I was proud of my store and I really cared about the customers. Things got really bad 2 years ago when the company started firing the people who care and putting in but-kissers who only care about the money and don't care about the people. Towards the end the negativety and meanness was too much. I was supervisor trying to hold this little store together. The manager was mean as was constantly yelling at people. She treated everyone like garbage. The district manager was even worse. We never sold enough and they had the gall to tell us that upselling was good customer service. 90% of the customers we had were people that had been coming into the store since before I started. They were pretty much sick of it and were loosing business like crazy. All the employers tried to get the upper management to listen but they didn't care. The just wanted there profits. 1,000s of corporate people were sending down new rules and regulations that made no sense, had nothing to do with serving a great cup of coffee, and just made my life difficult. None of these people had even worked in the stores. Training was garbage and people that worked there for a year couldn't make a decent latte. The new automatic machines made a destinctly weaker espresso shot but those of us who had been around long enough to know that were told to keep our mouths shut and just remind customers of there other positive aspects. The positive aspects of these machines were nonexistent. I was considered negative for not wanting to sell bad drinks to people and pointing out the poor training for employees. A couple years ago there seemed to be a new trend in firing. All the people who had worked for the company for more than 4 years were being fired for no really good reasons. Most felt they had been fired because they made too much or they knew too much. I was in the group and I was next on the chopping block. I had been told by a previous manager that my DM was out to see me fired. When we got a new she wasted no time in writing me for absolutely ridiculous reasons. Understand that I had 3 awards for service and was considered by many managers and previous DMs to be one of the best supervisors in city and had never been written up for anything. Everybody I talked to thought the reasons for the write up were utterly ridiculous but there was nothing we could do about it. I knew I would be fired if I didn't quit. I really had no option. Many customers and employees said that they would stand up for me but only a couple did. So, here I sit writing this email. I believe Starbucks is on the way down. It is only a matter of time. They only care about the bottom line and if that is all you care about someone better will come along and provide a better service. Customers and employees aren't going to let themselves be treated this way. Stand up for yourselves. Just say NO!!!! |

| I love the people who come to starbucks. A middle aged fat woman came into today and jokingly asked "can I get a mocha martini, i responded by "would u like an olive in that." she responded by "no i'll just have a mocha". what a dud, if u are going to start with a joke don't kill it in 2 seconds.
Are you really that dumb that you can't continue the stupid joke u began with. She prob thought up that line all the way home from work and then expected everyone to laugh and congratulate her for being so clever. what a moron! |

| As a native Seattle-ite, not to mention currently a lowly college student who USED to be going to college on my parent's loving hearts and finances (who is now going to school by financing away the rest of my life, thanks to Starbucks takeover of Seattle's Best and the "downsizing" of my father's entire department so that now the coffee in SBC bags is not roasted onVashon Island where it SHOULD be but instead the same bland crap that's in the green bags across the street at the marmaid), I will never set foot in a Starbucks. Starbucks has completely decimated a cultured, growing, competitive coffee market in what is largely known as the coffee capital of america to be sure. A Starbucks on every corner, usually across the street from itself. The greatest travesty in the Starbucks demolition of Seattle's coffee culture, however, is without a doubt Seattle's Best Coffee. All of you SBC and Torrefazione lovers who now weep for their slow and painful death have the tyrant of Starbucks to thank for bringing in their bland and typical roasts to cafes that used to seep delicious flavor and ambiance as well.
If you know what coffee is supposed to taste like, if you know what a business does for a community when it is TRULY a contributor instead of a sponge, you will not support Shultz and his killing of coffee culture.
don't even get me started on his 2005 run for market share in brazil against Pele and his brazilian coffee empire....
i weep for the coffee shop of yesterday |

| It all began with a group of friends. Peer-pressure set in. I started going more and more frequently with my friend, a pusher. I'll call her: Jane. Jane decided that she would tell everyone that it would be a good idea to buy me Starbucks gift-certificates this past Christmas. I also recently moved to downtown Columbus, where there is a Starbucks on every corner and every local cafe' "Proudly serves Starbucks coffee". Besides, how could I deny those shiny clear plastic gift cards their intended purpose of existence?
Well, it didn't take long for me to realize that most of their coffee really isn't so good. In fact, I made the mistake of ordering a regular coffee, black - once. It tasted like it had been left on the burner at a truck stop gas station for a week! So, I stuck with the Large (Notice I didn't say "Venti") fattening mocchas with whipped creme and extra espresso. I burned through three gift cards in less than a month.
Right now, as I write this - I am battling a severe headache and potential migrane due to the lack of caffiene. I am sipping apple juice and I can't wait to get off work to get some headache medicine.
Thank you for this site, with any luck it will help give me strength and keep me from relapsing. |

| Here's a not so funny story...a nice little coffee shop opens in a small town in NJ, a couple streets away from a Starbucks. This new mom and pop coffee shop is great: good prices, good drinks, a nice atmosphere, even live entertainment nights. This nice new place only lasted about a year, corporate Starbucks bought them out. The end. |

| Words to the weary...After dedicating 7 long, bleary-eyed, 4:30 am starting years of my life to the motherbucker, I quit. All you folks who just can't stand it should do the same. There are other jobs out there that pay the same or better without all the bucker bs. Starbucks is changing rapidly and not so much for the better. Do yourself a favor, sell your stock , cash out your 401K and take some time off. There really is a much bettter job market out there despite what the bucks tells you. |

| I have to apologise for my spelling, I am an X starbucks coffee drinker and believe it has affected my abilitys to spell right.
I have to admit that the corporate value of starbucks has to be measured by
stealth labor unfairness. Not to mention the foul taste in coffee and
advertisements, they match in flavor and whit. Paying out the wazoo for a
cup of their crappy joe isnt a reflection upon your social status, don't you ever believe its! And their adds make you think it is.
Their sales aproach is
reflective by the help that they hire too. I hate to be treated rude when I
over pay for something.Cant really blame the help when they get lied to so often and much by their peers. Is that a sign for me to hold? "Hi, im stupid, I
just paid too much for a late' and feel proud of it at starbucks" or " I
sure wish I could be the next Starbucks poster child". What has this world
come too? I see the price for the foo-foo coffee and wonder, " prozac or
ridillin today". Could this be a thorazine shuffle? Stay away from starbucks, they just put your neighbor out of business. They dont even live in our comunitys and are heartless about it all.
If you patronise your local Starbucks your just adding insult to injury. Thanks for letting me post my opinion
and comments...sweet to have a site thats format is set for the consumer and not the
advocates for corporate america. Statement: Starbucks, you are the one who
made me just as bitter as your coffee....you suck! |

| I believe if people want to waste $4 on coffee, they can. America is still a 'relatively' free country (though with the patriot act who knows when we'll become a Fascist state...) BUT when Starbucks decides to support activities that are illegal, unlawful and biased, then I get pissed off. I no longer go to starbucks after their support of Zionist practices in Israel - ie giving money to the Israeli govt. to subjugate Palestineans.'

| Just want to say I had worked for Sbux for 7 years ( yes i am permanentley insane now!!!) and in that time was promised a promotion from Shift to Assistant Manager 4 times...did it ever happen....NO! I finally left because my wages weren't increasing at the same rate as my responsibilities...like my manager would go away on vacations and "Manager conferences" to Vegas for weeks at a time, leaving me in charge to do all her crap....but why the hell should I deal with all the sh*t making $10/hr, while she's soaking up the sun and shopping making $40G a year??? and when she comes back and the store's being run better than she could have ever done in 2 weeks against her 5 yrs as manager, do I even get a thank you????? NO, i get demoted back to my slave job, looking after snivelling whiny, lazy ass 16yr olds who never had a job before, but because mommy and daddy said they should they figured Sbux to be a classy looking slack ass job (which it isn't when you have Corporate pigs breathing down your neck every 2 minutes watching the way you tie your shoes or brush your hair!) i was also told i could never be a manager in the store which i currently worked as "thats not policy", since that store was the only one close to where i lived i couldn't afford to move any further away. after i left i find out 1. a girl that i had trained and worked with at the same store has now been promoted to manager at the very SAME sbux we both worked at....some "policy" that was! AND to add insult to injury a moronic, idiot, retard of a guy, who EVERYONE at my store HATED and customers used to complain about on a daily basis, not to mention the fact he is ugly, brain dead, and has THE worst voice in the world, got promoted to Assistant manager in less than 1 yr of starting out at my store, and is yet again working at the same store where he started out! Sbux is a crock, plain and simple. Thye lure you in, and cut your throat. DM's are all on power trips, thinking they are disciples of the all powerful and mighty "GOD" aka Howard Shultz, who is power hungry, money grubbing self centred jerk. We had gotten an email once saying he had purchased the Seattle Sonic's team....and he wanted to assure us "he didn't acquire this team with Sbux money, but his own finances".....Ummmmmmm last time i checked Howard Starbucks IS the way you earn your "personal" finances! DOn't get lured in, honestly, besides all the hype, jargon, "good" coffee and tasteless advertising, they are no better than a sweatshop, at least if you work making Nike running shoes in Malaysia you don't have to chant a montra all day long while you work. |

| You wanna know why starbucks has soooo much money. Can you say net 30 turns into net 360? They do not pay their bills. Let's talk about the pastries. They purchase loaves for $.30 a slice and turns around and sells them for $1.19-$1.27 a slice; I think it is 10 slices in a loaf. 110-120% profit. Come on now who are the stupid ones, can we say customers? Milk where I am from they buy whole milk for 2.89 a GALLON!!!! Think about how many latte's you can make from GALLON of milk. And you guys are right. They treat their employees like s**t. But if you want money you have to work some kind of way, Right? |

| Ok, I am glad your back. I just quit this week. It turns out that they need some extra cash so they decided to take mine. They let me work for three weeks while they took out money for my benefits I was told would be cancelled while I was away for a month. I was never so fond of the job but I figured I could at least get so medical and dental benefits for me and my wife. I turns out that after what I laid out of pocket and what they just took from me I could have had a real job and paid my own dental bills.
I am considering filing suit with the NY labor board. It seems that my store was not the only store that did not give the required breaks. If you worked in a NY store and got the message "meal break violation" when you tried to punch out for lunch you should file as well. The violation is not on you it is on them. NYS require that you get your breaks in a timely fashion if you are not getting them they are violating your rights as an employee. From what I have read this is a big issue at all Starbucks. If we do something about it now we can stop them from thinking they are above the rules. Please post your complaints here. If you want to file a complaint agaist them for this let me know and I will set-up an email address |

Yep, there is nothing more satisfying than dropping a steamer and then whistling a tune as I walk out the front door. |
