Ok, a new day has dawned on IHateStarbucks.com.
I no longer want to keep hacking the old, tired php on the site, so this is what I propose. These messages will remain up for all eternity. In addition, there is a new Guest book. | I was anti-starbucks for quite some time until about a year ago when I received some gift cards for Christmas. I got a Frappiccino because they looked kind of like milkshakes and I'm not a big fan of the coffee taste. I initially appreciated the fact that it helped me poo (I have a wack system), but now I know about the addictive chemicals. Anyway I was shocked and appalled this past Sunday to see the prices had gone up as high as 20 extra cents. I got my drink anyway since I was already there and became even more upset when it was watered down. Higher prices?! Lower quality?! It is obvious that starbucks already makes more than enough money so such a change only proves they are money hungry corporate pigs. I am now on a mission to kick the starbucks habit and find a more user-friendly company. Thanks for making this site. |

| To Ex SM: Other than quit my job, there's nothing that can be done about it. I can't quit just yet, but I'm getting married next week and as soon as I get pregnant, I'm quitting. Besides, SBUX doesn't want to hear that SM's feel like they're treated like idiots. If I mention to my DM that I think the company goes a little overboard with the amount of work they expect us to get done on the amount of labor we're alloted, I'm told that I must not be following proper deployment, or my partners must need to be retrained, or if I used the Duty Roster Notebook everything would get done (have you seen this thing? - wipe down the baseboards in the backroom 3x per day?!?!). I've come so close to quitting several times, but I like my store and my partners. I agree that the role the SM is allowed to play isn't working for the company anymore. We have no autonomy whatsoever. We can't even order soap dispensers for our restrooms without DM approval. |

| starbucks is a big ass corporation. it probably started with good intentions, but its so big now that its hard to filter out who u let into the company. been with the company for about a year now and the best advice i can give to someone just joining the company is this: take advantage of the benefits, the pay, and whatever else and go on with your life. No matter what they tell you in that boring-ass orientation doesnt change the fact the company is a beast and managers(more or less) and up dont give a flying frisbee about u. keep ur nose out of drama, make that dough and get out. |

| To: Store Manager: You are absolutely right about the challenges faced by 6,000 plus SM's. What are you doing about it? I ended up leaving the company because I couldn't take the hypocracy and double-speak rhetoric put out at the DM and RDO level. I really hope that corporate in Seattle realizes that they've outgrown the existing management model and the only way to maintain the "Guiding Principals" is to create some form of SM advocate who can bridge the gap between Corporate and the actual stores themselves. |

| yup, i work for Starbucks. my district manager, a smiling alligator indeed, decided to make his employees, a bunch of kids of ages between 16 and 22, stay and work during a hurricane. and, of course, he sent us back to work with the parting remark (over the phone) of "be careful, lots of roads are closing." well, how sweet of him. maybe he should go close the damned store.
yesterday, my manager left a note on the board that there would be limited time off until mid-JANUARY. whcih means, anyone who thought ahead to sign in July for time off around X-mas and New Year's are SCREWED.
best place to work? naw... i'm only stuck there until my resume reaps new benefits. |

| I had a case study on *bux that I've been working on- and should be working on now -and so I decided to see if it was all the case study said it was...I looked at the menu and thought oh God, coffee because I can't stand the stuff...but then I saw pumpkin spiced latte...I don't know why they called it pumpkin spiced because it tasted more along the lines of the last dregs of coffee everyone drank from their parent's mugs when they were little kids...needless to say the 1.95 double chocolate cupcake was my favorite item on their menu...and by the way, if a *bux exec is reading this:
Internal Strategic Issues
1- You can't entice non-coffee drinkers to come to your coffee joint because once they do as I did they'll never waste their time in there again and they might even sue over the experience
2- Even if all my coffee drinking friends went to your coffee joint as Schultz's "third place where people meet," I'd run to the gas station and get a Big Slam of Mt. Dew vs. pay the exhorbant prices for soda at your store |

| Has it ever occurred to anyone that Starbucks is exactly like McDonald's? It's on every corner, the quality is marginal at best, and their advertising makes me want to turn the channel. I'm still puzzled why people pay over $3.00 for burnt coffee made by people who could care less who you are.
People should embrace their local coffee shop; they will take care of you and know what you like, and usually charge a more fair price.
I can only hope people will stop and think what will benenfit you and maybe even others more; big business corporations or small mom and pop shops that are courageous enough to carve out a living against the massive oppression of big boring brands. |

| I go to school at Southern Illinois University - Edwardsville, one of only two universities with a starbucks on campus, and I have begun to noticed that a large percentage ofthe student body (and the professors) are strung out caffiene addicts, everyone is walking around with starbucks cups all the time and many cannot seem to function without their daily fix. |

| I just wanted to make an entry. I worked for starbucks for well over two years. I was treated with no respect other than the respect a donkey is given for carrying a heavy load. The company destroyed my dignity and the dignity of respected colleagues. Starbucks is a fad that has lasted entirely too long. Thanks for reading, els |

| Just heard *bux was raising their drink prices approximately 11 cents. What the hell for? Aren't they overpriced enough already? My local gas station is selling their coffee (any size) for 89 cents. I'm not now or ever going to pay $4.00 for a cup of *bux coffee again. It still all tastes the same to me no matter where you buy it. Am I right? The "third place" atmoshpere can be anywhere. It's all an illusion. *bux is not the only "third place" to buy coffee. Try it anywhere, I guarantee you, you won't be disappointed. It works for me...it will work for you. Peace. |

| I have been working for the Bux for almost 6yrs now. Of course there have been bad days... weeks... even months at the Bux but I worked with some really awesome people and served some really awesome customers. That always allowed me to over look all the bad apples that thought all you had to do to work there was pull on a spout and the shit would come out or the customer who thought they should have their drink ready right when they walk away from the register. Good times... yes good times. I worked at a somewhat busy store in San Diego. The manager was as cool as one can get and the partners were all pretty laid back. Everything was awesome until a dreadful change with DM happened and down came the store. Not only did the DM pull some bullshit on the current management team there but decided it was also necessary to behind partners back. I personally hope this specific DM reads this site. SHE should remember that Karma will come knocking on her door sooner or later. NEWays, without getting too much into detail, the last 2 months working in San Diego was extremely dreadful. I just felt that this company is starting to loose its focus on who they let represent them. Not only did I put 5 hardcore years into this company, it really just wasn't that bad. I mean its freakin coffee for goodness sake. I get paid good money, have plenty of hours and made good tips. However, none of that is worth taking someones bullshit and then asking you to explain to them what the hell L.A.T.T.E. means. Get a grip lady! I have since transferred up to Northern California. Where I will be working in a new store, with some new partners and from what I've been told an awesome DM. I was planning on transferring as a barista and not keep my SS position because I didn't want to deal with the Buxs drama anymore. I just wanted to worry about getting to work on time, in uniform and making sure I wasn't short or over $5. However, someone persuaded me to just transfer as a SS since I'll be making much more money. I am a little nervous. I start on Monday in my new store and I'm not sure if its going to be worth it. I told myself that I would try it out for a month. If its just as bad as how my last district turned out then I plan on either demoting myself, cutting my hours or just quiting all together. I just think that if you put all this time into a company that is supposed to follow RESPECT AND DIGNITY then they should ALL follow it. It'll be tricky with this new store but part of me hopes I wont like it so I can finally leave this coffee cult. By the way I'm not sure if anyone has said anything yet but the new seasoned drink Pumpkin whatever SUCKS!!! |

| Yeah, so I quit my "salvation from SBUX" job because it was even worse then the bux (telemarketing is NOT fun). Went back to my old store like an idiot and asked my manager, who had said "you'll always have a job with me" if he wanted me back. And his exact words were "Not really. I was kinda glad when you left. You were getting to be more trouble than you were worth." So now he's got a whole new staff of (mostly) inexperienced people, 3 ASM's who do JACK, and the store has increased in business because the sandwich shop across the street that served coffee went out of business. Meanwhile, I found a nice "working retirement" in a store 10 minutes further away that does 1/2 the business of my old store, without the neurotic manager who liked to ruin my life and undercut me to his bosses and the customers. Let the record show too that I have no intention of staying at this job for any more than a year, I just missed my window for what I decided I want to do (teach) so I've got a year to basically kill, and $12.86 an hour (plus tips) is hard to turn down when you figure anywhere else you'll be making...1/2 of that. |

| Does Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf have better-testing coffee than Starbucks? And a wider selection, especially with regard to the teas? A "White Forest" Ice Blended Drink (like a Black Forest, only with vanilla powder instead of the chocolate) should tastes a lot better to me than a Frappuccino at Starbucks. |

| I frequented a Starbucks located in a B&N store. Once or twice a month, I splurged on a coffee frap. I'm an older, retired person. In 3 years, I never had a complaint. The girls were always friendly and made good fraps. Then a new guy was hired. He made my next frap and added too much of what ever it is they pour into the cup before adding ice...added very little ice...and the frap was almost watery thin and not like the usual fraps. I could see how the people were worked to death and he actually looked pleased with what he had made for me...I didn't want to appear "ugly" so I didn't complain but I decided next time, I would not get in line if he was working. Next time he was not working, I got in line. The regular girls were making drinks but another new guy was working the register (so I didn't think there was any chance he would make my frap). Well, after I paid him, he turns around and decides to make my frap! I said, excuse me but I want to wait for one of the girls to make my frap. He did not hear me. Then I saw him draw something from the tea crock into my cup, add ice, and make my frap. I told him that I saw him use tea and I didn't want it. I refused to accept the coffee frap. One of the girls started making me a frap and she couldn't find the coffee frap syrup (what ever it is called) and she asked him what he used for coffee frap...he pointed to the tea crock. She looked disgusted at him and dumped what she had started. I asked for my $ back. He made me wait while he took orders from more customers before he called the manager to refund my money. I sent email to corporate and received an immediate reply. They offered to give free coupons but I did not accept. My once or twice a month joy of browsing B&N with a coffee frap has ended. I won't ever get in line at a Starbucks again. I have discovered Dunkn' Donut's version of coffee frap is far better, has less sugar and fat, and even cheaper. I go to Books A Million and stop by Dunkn' Donuts and never miss Starbucks. I found this site by accident while looking up the Starbucks/War hoax for my husband. I'm sorry you kids are worked to death by Starbucks. For those of you who think you would miss your Starbucks coffee, you won't. There are other things that taste much better, are cheaper, and the people are better to their employees. |
