Ok, a new day has dawned on IHateStarbucks.com.
I no longer want to keep hacking the old, tired php on the site, so this is what I propose. These messages will remain up for all eternity. In addition, there is a new Guest book. | Good news, Starbucks have closed in Chapel St, South Yarra, Melbourne, Australia. The bad news is that they relocated to some other suburb with less competition. Chapel st is a trendy, lifestyle precinct with good coffee places a-plenty Melbournians love their coffee ( - c/o among other things Italian immigration in the 50's) and are very protective of their favourite cafe hauntswhere the experience of the 'coffee' is as much about the relationship with the owner as the good coffee they serve.....
Cheers |

| What exactly is a snapshot? I keep seeing them mentioned by not defined. Maybe this site should have a glossary of terms. Maybe people could post creative definitions |

| Wow! Guys you all have to realize it's not's just Sbux, it's happening in every company on the S&P.. My daughter has worked for Hollywood video and is currently working for Little Caesars, she just received her raise that she was supposed to get four weeks ago, a whopping .15s and hour! WHOOPIE!! The girl bust her rear for people that could care less and their turnover rate is 80%!!! Yeah, that.15s will pay for college! I worked for K-mart back in the early eighties and it was the same there... It is ridiculous because, WE THE PEOPLE that work (worked)for these "Corporations" are getting screwed so the stockholders can drive their friggen gas chomping Hummers... You know what? GOD only want's 10%, what the hell is wrong with corporate big wigs getting 10% too? By the way great vent site.. I still like Sbux French Roast espresso, however I buy it at the grocery store and make it myself at home... 3.00 a cup is too steep for me!! |

| I'm writting today because, I wanted to see if any of you might have suggestions. I've been working for Starbucks for years now. I moved from one district to another. I worked in each district for a decent amount of years. I have had a manager for about a year now that I believe is trying to sabatosh(I'm not the best speller) me. Not just me, many people. This manager has over a hundred precent turn over rate since they've been there. I've been written up more since they've been there then my entire time w/ Starbucks. For really stupid things as well. My manager keeps telling me that others are saying that I'm starting contaversey and I am the cause for bad morale in the store. Granted, I've been there for quite a bit of time in that store long before they came along and that morale has been there for a while, even before I showed up. I can inform my manager just where the low morale is coming from but, they refuse to listen. But, they can sure listen to others when my character and integrity is defamed. My manager and District Manager recently tryed to fire me on these so called accusations against me. I've had many partners come to me and talk about how horrible they're reviews were, that our manager makes them feel as if they are worth nothing even after working so hard everyday. I have gotten the worst review that I ever have w/ Starbucks recently and didn't even get a raise. The very thing that my manager accuses people of (ex. high stress, disrespect, bad deployment of shifts, etc) this manager is the worst at and many people in the store know it and talk about it. This manager is a micro-manager, locks up sharpies, because, "the kindergardners can't hold on to the ONE they are given". This manager can't give one person a good review at all, fires about one person or more a month since they've been there. I've been put on probation for stress, diployment, bad morale, etc. Have been told I'm doing amazingly better yet, after the two month probation, put on ANOTHER ONE! To "see if I will get any better". What can I do, I feel stuck. I very much want to trasfer but, because of the probations I can't. Any suggestions? |

| I have a question. I just received in the mail last week a packet about S.I.P. I had gotten it before but threw it out along with my Bean Stock and decided I was better off doing 401K and I'm wondering if it's worth it to do SIP since you can keep it after you leave the company? |

| I have just a couple of things to say,
Starbuck’s posers will pay a pretty penny to be seen at starbucks or with a starbucks cup in their hand. Chances are if I pour regular coffee in a starbucks cup, some person will pay $4 for it. Applause, applause to starBUCKS marketing scheme. |

I had to do it, back in the day, was just after 9-11. No jobs in NY. They send you to Hicksville and freaking wash your mind with near boiling coffee, then give you a brain freeze with a frothy crapacinno. Bringing these dopey little punks in to work there for peanuts saying you could be a manager if the starz all line up just right, and we get the right spin on your head. There is a book on how to wipe yourself at starbukz. I'm hooked on the stuff, I have to quit though, the price is too high, I'll have to sell my first or give my left nut for a cup o' joe there any day now. Hang in there you silly little barista babes. |

| Questions. What is the proper coffee/water ratio? Is the coffee measured by weight or volume? This is for a regular ole cup of homebrewed Folgers. Any other advice for a good cup of coffee?
Thanks |

| I hate Starbucks... actually I don't mind their products, however I refuse to get anything there!!!! Why???? CUZ NOTHING AT STARBUCKS IS RECYCLABLE!!!! It is one of the largest most popular corporations. You would think they would care enough about our environment and spend a lil bit of $$$ and use recyclable cups!!! |

| I had a sore throat today so my husband went into a 7-11 to get me a cup of tea. What he came out with was amazing. They have a chai latte (that comes pre-made out of a machine) that rocks. It was ten times better than what Starbucks serves AND it was only ONE DOLLAR and change. I will never get another $4 chai from *$ again. |

| If I could mention names here, I would, just so I could warn all of you who NOT to work for and what store NOT to work at. But what I can do is give you a few guidelines as to what you should and should not do, wether it's considering a transfer or looking to work at Starbucks for the first, second, third or even the fourth time in your life (this company really does suck you in, there is just no escaping Starbucks). First of all, during an interview, if your manager is a blonde bimbo with fake boobs and a squeaky voice, run. If you're a guy, run even faster. Just trust me on this one. Two, if the store faces a wall or a covered parking lot, run. Three, look at the turnover rate and ask questions. If there are an excessive amount of partners on medication for mental problems, run. If you don't, you may become one of them. Four, if a partner that you've known for 30 seconds has already told you about all the drama the store has to put up with, don't transfer there... run. DRAMA IS NOT FUN, OKAY? And last but not least, don't think you won't ever have to put up with the bull of this company just because you quit your store and moved away. Guess what? There is gonna be a Starbucks right next to your new house or in the apartment building of your new apartment. Listen to me carefully... YOU ARE GONNA HEAVILY CONSIDER PUTTING IN AN APPLICATION! WHEN THIS FEELING COMES OVER YOU, RUN! Starbucks is not a job, it's a disease, and a life threatening one, at that. There's help, it's called ihatestarbucks.com. |

| Guess what? At my local Starbucks, in Santa Barbara, California, there is a "Now hiring" sign in all the stores. On the back (which is readable from inside the store), Starbucks says that they are proud to still be offering health benefits to those who average 20 hours per week. But the joke is that they will cut your hours so you don't get 20 hours per week by the time that you are finally eligible for benefits! They have even advertised a "hiring fair" for baristas and shift supervisors, and a separate one for assistant managers. What do you think of all of this? |

| I believe that coffee shops should be similar to mom and pop stores. Starbucks is too commercialized. What about the tiny coffee shop on the corner that serves real-brewed coffee with a nice person behind the counter that actually *knows how to brew a cup of coffee. Starbucks is full of zit-faced teenagers that couldn't make coffee if their lives depended on them. |

| The newest wave of humiliation consists of a hat and a nametag. Why the hell anyone needs to know the name of the person slinging their coffee is beyond me. I am a person--if I want to, I'll introduce myself.
Also, in our district, if you receive less than a 100% on a snapshot, you will be written up. My lovely manager has added
another punishment: she'll take you off the schedule for a week. So much for that new pay raise when I'm not getting any hours!!!
We need to band together and boycott the bastards. Spread the word!!! |

| I have been with starbucks for 2 years now, this is the worst I have seen it. My manager keeps hiring the slowest people. Now we have a new asst. manager who is even slower. He claims to have 10 years coffee experience. But from where? A coffee cart? A Mr. Coffee? He sucks. I cant wait until he gets a bad snapshot. My other asst. manager and I have a bet going on how long he well last (though neither of us think he will last over a month). |

| I do not frequent Starbucks and have probably purchased coffee there twice in my life. I just recieved an e-mail regarding the anti war/anti support of troops in the war... by Starbucks. I do find this hard to believe and, lets be fair folks, do we need to believe this to be true? Wake up and smell the coffee....in your own kitchen! |

| Hearing of Starbucks alleged opposition to the invasion and occupation of Iraq almost makes me proud to work for them. However, I highly doubt that what you have heard was true as my store is very pro-military in many regards (and sending coffee happens to be one of those "regards"). I can think of pleanty of other reasons not to shop there, though. |
