| What i don't understand is how they can only carry 1 sugar-free flavor. I'm diabetic and don't happen to like vanilla, go figure. I hate starbucks, but my housband love's their frappachinos, which have deadly ammounts of sugar in them, so I ask what sf flavors they have and what a crappy response!!! Thankfully for me I work at a wonderful little mom and pop shop in Colorado Springs where I have 5 SF flavors. I also have the greatest customers ever, who, when they put in a starbucks 2 blocks away all got very concerned for my shop, but like i told them all, if people want a good cup of coffee that does not taste like tar or cost $7, they can come to me and pay a nice reasonable price for some damn good coffee. So don't worry about too amny of us little shops, people are not as dumb as they seem. When given a choice they will simply choose the better coffee and the better deal. |

| All of the cops I know refer to SBux as 4Bux because that is how much the coffee costs. It is an atmosphere fit for whiny, spoiled, hoity ass munchers. My sister was visiting from Tokyo and we ventured to SBux where they charged us $50 for 3 small coffees/and 1 muffin. Sister thought nothing of it, as the prices were just as they are in Japan. I challenged the barista who giggled in a stupor and pressed dozens of buttons on the cash only to figure out that she was not in Japan and had in fact punched in our order 8 consecutive times!!!! Oops |

| I am so glad you walked out on that jerk that gave you grief about how you ordered a drink. I am a new former "partner" of Starf**cks. If I would have talked that way to a customer I would have been fired years ago. As it was, I had to quit because of alleged complaints made about me from customers. Sure, there were probably times when I may have looked at someone weird, or had some strange body language, but never would I have spoken that way to a customer. It amazes me some of the things I have read on this site regarding treatment of customers by Starf**cks employees. I AM SO GLAD TO NOT BE A PART OF THAT ANYMORE!!! |

| very typical star&^%$s situation. they believe the world revolves around their "culture". the time i worked there (not very long), i talked to everyone in standard english and tried to always be sympathetic with the fact that a coffee drink does not need a taxonomic classification. :) you take care! |

| How fun to read your postings. I have worked at *$ for 2 years, and LOVE it. It has been a wonderful experience. I read these postings for one reason, to see what I can do to improve the experience for all of you. The company rocks! The ideas, values, mission and love of the customer make it a wonderful environment. I encourage all of you to give feedback to the managers when you have a bad experience, more often than not, we really DO care and want to make your day a better one, maybe you can help us get the rude, unhelpful and uncaring partners OUT of our stores! I have bad experiences in stores sometimes - and I could be the biggest fan of the company around - give the feedback and watch the store improve, it is encouraging. |

| What's the big deal? It's not like Harley denied coffee to the U.S. Military-I like Harley's use of the sleeves on a cold drink.Good thinking outside of the Starbucks drink calling boxes!Don't you have your signed "Just Say Yes!" agreement with you at all times? The sleeves are out in some stores because the customers asked for them to be and we say yes to the customers.I've never been told they're for venti's.Only told to stock them on the counters with the condiments.Nutter, you're my hero. |

| My friend had told me about a 'must try' coffee drink at Starbucks - caramel something so I decided to go in one morning and give it a try. Prior to this I was not a fan of their coffee but I didn’t hate them, yet. I walked in looked up at the board and didn’t it listed so I asked, “Do you serve the caramel drink?”. The jerk behind the counter reaches for a candy caramel and says 'You mean this?' and I say, no the coffee with caramel. He said, “I can give you a coffee and you can toss this in it.”
It was early so I didn’t realize he was being a total jerk so I tried one more time. “I thought you guys served a hot coffee caramel drink... that YOU make?” Then the bulb went on. He told me that I need to order my drinks by their true name and suggested that I take some time to study the menu and order properly. I was shocked! I took a minute, looked him over and replied… "Its just coffee a-—h---, not the cup of life!"
I walked out and haven’t been back since. That was 4 years ago. |

| To Harley: They are called HOT sleeves for a reason. Yes they are made from recycled paper, and if you ask the "head office" Starbucks only makes the sleeves for Venti hot cups, the only reason why they give them to customers is becuase they have a just say yes policy. If you go to a Starbucks that has the sleeves out in the open, they are going against standard and they are ment to be for the barista to hand out. I've been with the company for 2 years and you're the first one that I have heard of using a HOT sleeve for a cold drink. It's people like you that waste product and use the excuse that it's "customer convenience", rather then being realistic and seeing that recycled or not it still goes in the trash. This is why we (americans)are the reason for 97% of the worlds trash. Travel out side of the county and see what the world is. We are so spoiled. We need to be realistic and think about our future and the future generations. It starts small. Starbucks being one of the largest companies, needs to help set a trend and stop petty "conveniences." |

| The sleeves are NOT supposed to be out on the counter for the taking. Corporate wants the barista to put a sleeve on every cup if it is asked for. It is a safety issue, as the customer may spill the drink when putting the sleeve on. So, for the stores that have the sleeves out on the counter, they are not following starf**cks policy. As far as the need for a sleeve on every cup, I agree with sleeve girl! People take a darn sleeve even if the ask for the drink at 120 degrees! It's a status symbol. It is the most stupid thing in the world. When I started working at Starf**ks in 1994, there were no sleeves! Do you think that every single person took a double cup. Absolutely NOT! It is corporate culture at its finest! |

| To Sleeve Girl:
Save sleeves. Spare millions of trees? Are you nuts? I typically buy iced coffee and iced Americanos. I use a sleeve. Keeps the fingers from freezing. Keeps the ice from melting quite so fast. At the stores I go to, I don't have to reach behind the counter for a sleeve. There are plenty right out in the open for the taking. That's what they are there for. Call 'em a customer convenience. Hey, did you consider the sleeves might be made from recycled paper? Maybe that's what the "head office" will tell you, but I wouldn't hold my breath waiting for a reply from them, if I were you.
I am neither an employee, nor stockholder in Star$$. Just so you know. |

| I am amazed to find Starbuck's declination to our troops overseas for such a simple request. My hat goes off to Newhall Coffee who sent 1000 pounds of their Freedom Blend without batting an eye. It shouldn't matter whether it's a charitable organization or not. These people are putting their lives on the line and spending time away from their families for us. Does Starbuck's not realize that this includes them too? You know what? It's better off they didn't send any, our troop may think we're trying kill them. |

| I agree with you 100% I hate when they reach behind the counter for things. Sleeves most of all! They don't understand what they are doing to the enviornment. Don't get me started on double cups! Why doesn't starbucks put and end to all of this waste. They are single handedly breaking down the enviornment. IT'S JUST COFFEE! |

| To Philbert,
As a barista, I learned that Starbucks cost per beverage at espresso bar is on average .88 per drink. They posted this in their effort to get partners to mark out all of their "partner beverages" in the POS. |

| This is my customer satisfaction:
Customer:"There's no honey."
Me: It's for you on the condiment bar.
Customer: "There is NO honey at my table."
Me: It's for you on the condiment bar.
Customer:"Did you hear me?There is no honey at my table!I want honey!"
At this point,I walk to the condiment bar, pick up the honey, bring it back to the bar and hand it to her.
Customer:"Oh."
It's very satisfying when a customer reveals theirself to the whole store for the ignorant, unappreciative, greedy ass they are. |

| If they pay for the experience, just watch Monty Python and go through the skit with the different abuse departments.
What is up with the "IT IS WHAT IT IS"? I hear that from every manager and wanna-be manager shift supervisor. Is that the way of avoiding giving answers to straight forward questions? |

| I've been working at Starbucks since August and it is now December. Though I love my job, I do realize what BS the corporation puts it's baristas through. The only reason I can stand it is because the other partners and managers at my store realize it too. It's those people who make my job fun, and they are the only reason I'm still there. I love my boss, and she makes life there easy. To other partners out there, f*^& the Corporation, love your coworkers. |

| Starbucks personnel managers need to take a look at themselves! When they expect employees to dress professionally and to offer exceptional customer service, they (the PM's) don't include themself. The PM in Houston needs a full body makeover to be able to work at a gas station! Also, Starbucks coffee tastes burned, thats why they give a pound a week to every employee, they need to get rid of it someway! |

| You know what i CANT STAND are demented customers who ask for sleeves when there drink is not hot. Honestly they dont even touch the cup, just immmediatly ask for "A SLEEVE PLEASE" and when i proceed to ask them to touch there drink, they give me a pist off look and REACH behind the counter with their nasty little hands and grab a sleeve...because its "Comforting". Well thats just wonderful that millions of trees are slaughtered so insecure little sickos can find "comfort". I have suggested that we charge 25 cents for sleeves and all proceeds go to Greenpeace...will see if head office ever gets back to me. |

| Barbie, if you were to go to a Starbucks, you aren't paying high prices for the coffee. You are paying the price for the "experience". The ambiance. The feeling of being there in the establishment, to see and be seen. It's all part of the package. It is what it is. Market forces reward or penalize businesses accordingly. People want this or there wouldn't be one on every street corner. Glad that you can still enjoy coffee at home.

| I'm trying to work out how much money Sbux makes on each coffee it sells. I figure it can't be much more than 50c, including staff costs (the coffee itself must be less than 10c). Does anybody have a better idea? |

| starbucks refuses to send anything in a care package to the US Military because we are not considered a tax write off. here is their e-mail send to me.
hank you very much for your request of coffee on behalf of our U.S. military troops. Starbucks has the deepest respect and admiration for our troops, and we are extremely grateful to those who serve stateside or overseas, and risk their lives to protect Americans and our values of freedom and democracy.
Since the events of 9/11, and with the most recent deployment of troops, Starbucks has been inundated with requests asking that the company provide coffee to U.S. military personnel.
Regretfully, Starbucks must decline your request. Please understand that Starbucks generally does not provide donations to U.S. military personnel. Our charitable contributions are made to nonprofit organizations that are designated as public charities under Section 501(c)(3) of the IRS Code, and are extended to public libraries and schools. The U.S. military or individual military personnel do not qualify as a public charity. Starbucks does not want to deviate from a well-established norm of charitable giving.
As you may know, Starbucks partners receive one pound of free coffee each week as an employee benefit. Many have chosen to provide their "mark-outs" directly to U.S. military personnel. Starbucks respects our partners' individual choice to do so.
Again, thank you for your request. Please be assured that Starbucks shares your concern about the well-being of our troops and hopes for their safe return.
Sincerely,
Kellie

| One more thing... I've read several complaints about wages. I would like to know what a fare wage is for an employee at a coffee shop. I certainly don't want people starting a website about my shop. This isn't a joke either... I would appreciate input. |
