I just quit starbucks after 2 1/2 years. The only reason why i loved to work there was because of my co-workers.. the greatest people ever to work with.. If it weren't for them, i don't think i would of survived in Starbucks!! lol, thats the only reason why i miss working there.. But Starbucks is ridiculous..it just seems like they DON'T care about there employees..They're too expensive too. I go there frequently to visit my friends, but i've noticed that recently, they made working on holidays terrible! the hours are just ridiculous! I'm glad i don't work there anymore.!

Starbucks entered most of our towns in Germany now, specially Frankfurt a.M., but therefore many of the smaller coffee shops closed, cause everybody is only ruing to Starbucks. Even that they're more expensive and the coffee is cold sometimes, too. Luckily this trend goes backwards, cause the so cold 'rich' people go back to the Italian and Spanish shops. (Guess they don't want to stay in touch with the normal population.). But I’ve to say that I love the Strabucksfruitdrinks!!!!! Everybody should sell them!

Have you ever noticed that when you ask someone where they have their coffee, those that admit Starbucks answer almost shamefully and embarassed?

Paris - I agree. The spelling and GRAMMAR in some of these posts are quite shocking. I almost choked on my pumpkin scone (or my pumpkin scone tried to choke me) while reading some of these posts. Starbucks should include some kind of literacy program with their stock options, 95% medical coverage, free drinks, vacation pay, advancement opportunities, free pound of coffee each week. Which reminds me. What is everyone complaining about? I forgot. If you're not happy in a low-paying "coffee shop" job then finish school, and learn how to type. Or, just be glad you're not over-weight and working at Wal-Mart (ugh... those aprons they force them to wear). That's right, instead of serving over-priced coffee to yuppies; you could be wearing spandex, sporting a mullet, and stocking Oreo cookies...

Um, Robert, read all the posts. The majority do not seem to know how to spell, type, or use proper grammer.

I own a bakery in Colorado Springs. I started suppling Starbucks with pastries when they first opened here in 1993??? Dealing with them was a nightmare. They tried to get all my recipes, which I refused to relinquish. After they asked me to mail a sample of each pastry item to them, for which I was never reimbursed. They came to visit my bakery, to make sure it was up to their standards. Finally they threatened that if I did not give them my recipes they would cut me off. I said go ahead and make my day. Hi, i recently left starf**ks after 9 years. I quit, but was going to be let go. What a mess. What happened to you. I am so curious, as many people in our district were termed lately, and mostly very long term partners. What's your story?

As a former sm i have never been a part of a company that has to deal with so much crap and all of the politics that come with it. I mean i blame my assistant mgr for my release,it sux that you have to step on toes to move up higher,it's not right but,im sure it happens all the time. Also, who cares about the name game, damn it's just coffee that had to be the stupidiest thing they wanted to do.Anyway i'm glad i am out of the imprisonment that i was in and one day it too {starbucks}will end up out of business.

I came across this site and I must say that it's sad the way Starbucks treats their employee's. The 800 number is a result of loosing your job? I feel bad for the employee's. The employee's are the putting cash in Howard & Company's pockets so they need to treat them right. But then again, if they dont like it these people can find new jobs that pay more money and w/benefits.

Chastity - um, Caramel Macchiato. Essential. A proven point that a monkey could do your job. Unfortunately, intelligent people (that know how to spell) just can't handle it...

TO *$ SLAVE - Your manager is completely out of line. What you should do is contact your district manager. The manager absolutely cannot touch the tips, let alone use them to cover the cash shortages! I can't believe that. Those tips are you and your co-workers. Starbucks charges .50 cents per hour for tips and taxes you on that. That is how much is reported to the IRS. The rest is tax free. At my former store we made at least $2.00 per hour. The managers never touched the tips, not even to give them out to partners. If a supervisor was not on duty, you couldn't get your tips, you'd have to come back. The manager/asst. manager absolutely cannot have anything to do with tips. You have got to get help! Don't let the corporate greed mongers do that to you. If you absolutely must work at starf**ks, at least get the benefits!

Your employer can not make you pay for overaages and/or shortages. It is against the law and protected under the clause of "cost of doing business". they can write you up and other enforce deciplinary actions but they cannot charge you. I had to go through this with a different company. Call the labor board and let them take care of it.

i know they can't touch the tips, but she does. she says this is how she covers the overs and shorts and since we're the ones short, she can use tips for this. she asks the new partners for the money out of their pocket to cover their shortages until their training hours are done. not much i can do when she's the only one with access to them. we've all seen the results of using the 800 number. it should be called the "order your last paycheck" number.

Hello, all... a friend of mine recently informed me about this wonderful web site. My friend/co-worker and i both work at starbucks and i think we both equally hate it as much as all of you... but more so from our side, cuz we must work here to make a decent living to survive (the economy here sucks!) - this is a friends computer and internet by the way, i cant afford it! N E WAY - My only point for this message is to say that while i do enjoy my Carmal Macciato, and my occasional cup of Guat. Ant. - i realized how the company really works after working here for only 6 months and that the company fronts like you matter as an essintial component of the company, however - its just to make you feel like they care so that you will work harder for them - so that they can make that extra couple bucks (and yeah the prices are outragous... thank God i dont have to pay for my coffee!!!) the benefits arent that bad really though... and another note - whoever that Chris guy is... you need to get a different job - cuz while i may hate starbucks - i do love my job (the people thing that is) i dont just act like im concerned about the customer - i really am i have met alot of friends through starbucks and i love my customers and that is the only thing that makes me want to get up every day and go to work - cuz i know that ill get to see all those cool people! - so Chris get a different job and find a real reason to hate starbucks - and stop acting like you care about the customers if you dont... cuz if you are truly like that... i dont think theyd mind if you fell off the face of the earth :-) Sincerely, Chastity

I don't drink coffee, and i hate starbucks, i've been in there before and had their stale ass breads and crap. Even if i did like coffee i wouldn't buy it from them, we need more Ma and Pa stores and less giant overpowering asses like starbucks. Quality goes downhill, big time, somthing you get at the Ma and Pa places

I have been boycotting Starbuck's for the past year now and feel great about it ! I fail to see the need for 2 Starbucks' on opposite sides of the same street corner (Shepard/ W. Gray- Houston, TX.) Oh, it's for convenience because one store has a drive thru and one store alone could not service the quantity of customers that sneak out of their River Oaks mansions to grab a cup-o-sellout coffee. Gluttonous if you ask me ! Long live the mom & pop competitor's !
