I love strong black coffee. You cannot buy this in Starbucks. It always tastes like nats pee, no matter how many extra shots of expresso you have to fork out for. Also, Starbucks appear to be systematically taking over every Coffee Republic in London (who actually make quite decent coffee). Starbucks doesn't give a monkeys scrotum about coffee, only about making more money.

i have worked at starbucks for over 4 yrs. and i can't wait untill my last day. i am in school and expect to work untill i graduate in about a year. the only reason i work there is so that me an my boyfriend can have insurance. that and the stock is the only thing worh a damn. the money sucks, it's so corporate it's discusting... (gee i have to shake your ice coffee sir.. oh and can i get your name so you get that warm personal EXPERIENCE) what a bunch of crap. the district managers and all the big people are the most money hungry puppets i've ever seen. i have been a shift supervisor for most of the time, but decided to demote after i was called into an office for no good reason and treated like i was in court and accused of stealing because they asked if i ever gave away free drinks. of course i have and the truth is it goes on everywhere. i gave away much less than anyone else i know. i was suspended for a week. i was told i owed the company what i gave away in free drinks. long story short, it was much worse than this, but there ass is uglier than i even thought. f*** them

I am in Chicago. I finally switched to a local company that has only one olcation and they roast their own coffee...which is incredible if you love coffee. (I have lived in Italy, too!) It is called Intelligentsia of you want to check them out, and purchase coffee on line. I agree that Starbucks' product is pretty mediocre, but one has to remember what they are providing for many poeple; convenient and numerous locations where you can go and be in a snappy interior with cool music and get a better cup of coffee than McDonald's or a local greasy spoon. The first problem is that people dont't know what a real latte or cappuccino. The second problem is that any thing that is produced (like their mixed drinks) quickly and in large quantities, there is bound to be a variation in product. Yes, I am sure they attempt to keep measurements the same, etc., but take steaming milk for example. This the error I have found in so many drinks - too much water, Steaming milk takes a little practice, a cold pitcher, and a bit of time. The baristas are usually rushing, so there it is inevitable there are inconsistencies in the drinks. There are always options if Starbucks doesn't do it for you; visit another coffee establishment, and find a different place of employment..

Casandra: Needing your assistance once again. Can you narrow down the 2-3 month time frame and year that an e-mail or memo was sent to the stores by the district managers instructing staff to cut the cords and dispose of the Utopia coffee makers? There is an assistant manager willing to help me with my case but is in need of the approximate date of that memo or e-mail from higherups. Your help with the date and year of this information would be greatly appreciated and is urgently needed. Thanks. Diane

Let me first say that two weeks ago, i quit Starbucks after 9 years. I quit, seconds before being fired. I had to take control of that. For many years it was a good job and and the decent pay and benefits were enough for me to raise my child. I left as the oldest shift supervisor in history (not really) and was making over $11 per hour (plus tips). Not bad really, but how miserable was I? How taken for granted, abused, misunderstood? The list goes on. How many times did I hear that my manager was "going to have me move forward"? How many times was I accused of misdoings? Although, did I have a file full of write-ups? No, not at all. I was loved by my customers - except for the ones that hated me. I ran a tight shift, and the store never ran better if I wasn't there. But did I ever get credit? No, just complaints. Complaints from whining kids that thought I was too tough, and whining customers that thought I looked at them mean, or said something rude. What a nightmare. I am so glad to be rid of them, although looking for work is difficult too. I know that I will be OK, and that life goes on. I wonder when I'll walk into Starbucks again...if ever. Anybody with similar experiences, I'd love to hear your story.

Koffeelady-If shots are burnt, have been sitting for long, or are long pulls they are going to taste strong and acidic. If that's the taste you're going for, that's pretty nasty. Starbucks shots are more caffinated than other shops shots. We just try to make them taste good. Shots aren't skimped on-you sound liek you don't know what you're talking about.

I'd like to say something about people urging complaining baristas to find a different job. First of all, if those people - due to Freedom of Speech - can express their opinions, so can any tired and overqualified barista out there. Secondly, with the economy like this, it is not that easy to follow "i hate starbucks" with any action and quit. What really made me write it was Pink's remark how hard was it to film her new video (waking up early, riding horse, blisters etc). AGGGrrrhhh.... And let me put an end to this venting tirade by saying that as much as I hate customers who think I am illiterate idiot (I have just graduted from a major university) I cant stand some of my coworkers who can only talk about the number of shots in Venti Mocca or American Idol (making my shift even more boring) Hope everyone has a great week

Im a shift supervisor, I make $11 an hour and am going to bonus $300 on my next review since I am no longer to have raises and have $6,000 in vested and unvested stock, i average 100$ a week in tips in my crappy little store and worked for starbux now for 4 years. I've seen it all........all the new partners that cant handle a working environment/social situations, or are impatient about raises and money( usually these people have had lots of jobs that don't last long ). Yes, I've seen all you lovely customers that have treated me like dogsh*t over the years for your stupid coffee to be PERFECT and the way you want it (ever been asked to make a 3% milk latte and then get asked to make it again 2 more times) and im sure you bitches would suffer third degree burns attempting to make your stupid coffee yourself....But I still serve it with a smile and a thank you.....IM not a snotty barista until you make me be one, then ill f*ck your drinks up ways you never imagine (oops was that a decaf espresso shot in your CM that was left under the bar in a shot glass for 4 hours!) yes I remember the crazies, the b*tchies, the old, the yuppies ala perfect lattes, I remember all of you....but I ALWAYS treat my nice customers with utmost RESPECT and am willing to make the drink 100 times till its perfect, and don't think don't I hook up MY regulars with a complimentary beverage here and there cause I do, quite often, cause they are NICE =0) get it....."and the Siren, she is a fertile byatch when you work hard and fast" PS dont EVEN byatch about how expensive it is I am so sorry we dont have a "dollar menu." My old store (i don't work there anymore) used to do that thing with the tips but eventually someone caught on and we got cameras installed. I've worked at several stores over the past few years where there was someone that did it. I've also worked at some really dirty ones too and yes they to had the gnatttacchinno. We threw stuff away all the time. I guess thats what you get when you let your employees become bitter by overworking them and underpaying them.

Why do Starbuck drinks taste so weak? I have to pay extra just to be able to taste a little espresso. Whats up with that???? The automatic ,just push a button and poof-you are a Birista, machines are the worst. At Starbucks they seem to overdo it with the syrups and skimp on the espresso. A regular latte at our local taste like warm milk your mom would give you before bed. When I order a latte and pay $4.00 for it, I want an a_s kicker not a butt knocker! Why do they think we drink espresso anyway?

Hello, I am a WIFI HOTSPOT owner in Colorado. Did you know this.... ? StarButts.. lobbied and got a law passed that makes it illegal and criminal , for any coffee business to make any public remark that diss'es any other coffee business ! How did I find out about this? I partner with a coffee vendor at our cybercafe... and yep I had to agree to this gag order to serve our clients coffee as my coffee vendor does not want to get in trouble. Yes , StarButts does belong to the nazi SS in my opinion. I am currently haveing my lawyer look at the freedom of speech issue as I type.... more later.

I hate starbucks because, first of all there are too many of them in sacramento. There are 28 of them. One was just opened in a very depressed area called "Oak Park" where a lot of poor people live. Is that ridiculous or what? How can people afford to drink all those flavored coffees? Why do people need to drink them all the time anyway? Is the whole world on coffee except me? Caffeine is a drug people! Get it? It should be used only when needed. Another thing. What is all the stuff they are selling in those starbucks. They look like the 99 cent store with all those racks of stuff. Who is making all those things? Where do they come from? Where does starbucks coffee come from who are the laborors? Are there any sites that tell the TRUTH about starbucks? I went in the one down the street from me to get a napkin the other day. The employees look like they are the most depressed people on earth. I hate starbucks!

Hey Coffeegirl, Starbuck's did buyout SBC just a couple months ago for 72 million cash. They kept everything the same as just another product line. They however do not own Tully's, at least not yet.

SS is a shift supervisor in the Fourth Reich.Send an email to Customer Service and it will generate a case number.Once it has been logged into the system they should respond within two weeks with at least a "Thank You" response saying they'll email you again. This is the time that it takes for them to assign it and find out who did what wrong, and who wants to talk to you.(I'm sure you can imagine they have a LOT of case numbers to get through.)Like any company, the more persistant you are, the more results you will get.Persistant customers can even get cell phone numbers of Regional Directors and VPs. Coffee Girl, I'm sorry, but Starbucks does own SBC, the sale went through in the spring.Soon, you will no longer see the red awning. :-(

The average partner at my store makes over $9 an hour. The shifts make over $10. I hate Starbucks as much as anyone else, but it's paying the bills until I can find something better.

Sorry I don't understand corporate lingo, but what does SS stand for? It sounds like something to do with the Nazi Party... I can guess what SM, ASM, and DSM stands for, I think... I called Customer Service in Seattle but they never called me back about it.

Want to get paid more at Starfux?? Memorize all the prices at your store, even easy shit that people usually add together. Then quote it to your enthusiastically satisfied customer, exact change goes into the tip jar everything else gets rung in. (don't ring in the exact change ones dummy) My store doesn't do this, but the store down the road, that my friend works at does it....all the partners do it and their tips are like $4 sumthin an hour, if starbucks wont pay more, then just take more. this is also the same store that throws away the whip things at the end of the nite because they don't feel like washing and refilling them. Their store also coined the term "gnattahchinno" they have gnats/fruit flies so freaking bad they always land in the frapps. And think its so freakin funny to serve them, especially to the extra rude enthusiastically satisfied customer. Fu*k em if they cant take a joke!

I read so much about the problems at Starbucks and the many paperworks you fill out. I was wondering if any of you might have an extra copy of the employee/operations manuals and the forms they make you fill out. I'd like to get familiar with the real Starbucks policies because the management of the store near to me just sucks and I want to bash on them when I know they're violating procedure. Can anyone help me out?

I feel so bad for you. Taco Bell, Gas Stations, Grocery stores pay well over the $6.85 amount. The grocery store union is your best shot. Plus, they pay weekly..... You dont have to slave at your job and wait 2 weeks for a $200 paycheck when you can get double working somewhere else.. Good Luck
